Hey guess what, that store manager doesnt give a rats ass if you ever shop there again. When I worked in retail people would tell me that all the time like it was some kind of threat.

Customers don't grow on trees. Losing good, loyal customers over returning items for store credit is a bad policy. The store will sell the returned games for $180 anyway, and the store credit will be spent at that Walmart. Rather than making a big fuss, that Walmart would do good to simply accept the returned items and keep a customer.

What the OP is doing is something scammers do all the time. I used to see it when I worked at a convenience store in high school - people would steal medicine from the drug store across the street and then try to return it to our store because we charge more.

Another thread that should be nominated for OP pwnage of the month. There have been many this November. Cant wait until the December "I cant beleive this is all I got for xmas from my mom/dad/gf/so" threads.

At least it seems that the OP is willing to accept pwnage and let this thread die (not that ATOT will) unlike that other moron with the rant about his friends 360.

OP is one of those types of posters who will post something, and when people disagree with him or even show him how he is wrong, he completely becomes ultra defensive and will not be reasonable or listen to anyone else.

Just look at his responses, he acts like he's 15, yet he says he's 24. He was evenshown the policy 2x which states you need a receipt and he blantantly ignores them b/c that would prove he is wrong.

He's a classic "if you don't agree with me, then stfu and gtfo" type of people.

Things change.

Save your receipt. Especially when you buy $180 in games and decide to read reviews after you purchase them.

You must also realize that a lot of these stores that were selling the PS3 / Wii had special bundle deals, if you are trying to circumvent these deals, don't be shocked if you get shot down.

lol wow i woke upt o a lot of responses, i can't respond to them all so here goes....
he wasn't trying to return a bundle deal he purchased his from best buy. we didn't spend the 2k in 1 day and he purchased the games with cash. it wasn't ignored it just wasn't an option.

now for the "Everything in the store can be exchanged or refunded with a receipt within 90 days of purchase... with the exception of a few electronic items and regulated items." ... no where in that does it say they WON'T take back items WITHOUT a receipt. so it isn't going against written rules so i dunno wtf some of you are talking about.

i am updating the op, returned the games

I don't know why everyone is being to mean to the OP. Wal-mart used to allow 3 returns a year without a receipt; I don't know if they changed it or what.

Sorry if this has been explained, didn't want to read the whole thread of you all yelling at him.

I'd also like to add this includes sealed videogames. I did it twice (long story).

i am not sure what the rule is now especially in CA. I know 2 years ago (when i left FL) the rule there was 4 returns without a receipt, not sure if it was per year or in any 12 month period, per store! for cash, credit, or exchange. They then switched it to just credit or exchange. I know i haven't returned anythgin without a receipt since i got back to CA 21 months ago but i don't know if those rules apply here.

You return something without a receipt (i am not talking about a $2k lcd tv or something) and they offer you an exchange or store credit, take down your phone # and i think yoru drivers license # to keep track. Why would they have all this set up to be able to track those returning things without a receipt if they never take anything back without a receipt. The whole point of this thread was to outline what i experienced since it has never happened before, and to point out the walmart assistant manager was just being an ass when they normally would have taken it back like the other walmart did today

Or more likely, one that was boosted and being brought back for the cash. NOT saying that's the case here, but it could be behind their reasoning on this.

Yep. I actually just read in today's police blotter about a guy who stole a DVD recorder from Walmart, and then came back later that day trying to exchange it for cash/credit.

Seriously, why the hell would the OP be surprised that you need a receipt to make a return?

EDIT:

There's certainly nowhere that it says that they will, so like the manager said, it was his call. If it's not written in the policy, then why the hell should they do it? Jesus Christ, what the hell is wrong with kids these days?

In reality what your doing is taking an store policy and re-interpreting to to say...

Well they would like me to have my reciept to return these items but....it does NOT say that if I don`t have my reciept they will NOT let me return them....

Well the bottom line is thats the way a snotty little kid approaches life instead of understanding you need to have your reciept!

I fail to see whats so hard to grasp.....

I am not the first one to say this, you're being a fvcking pussy. The policy states it very implicitly that a receipt is required for refund....stop being a little bitch just because you're not getting your way. God you piss me off.

One time I saw these Stone Cold Steve Austin Dolls that connected to the internet for $50 at Media Play. Later I saw them at EB Games for $5. After 15 minutes of work, I had $150 worth of store credit at media play. This was about 7 years ago when I was an ass. And it's assholes like me that make the system the way it is. I appologize.

Eh, the Wal-Mart near me is notorious for taking anything back... receipt or no receipt. People've returned go-carts there that they destroyed the engine... lawn furniture that they no longer needed... meat that had spoiled. How much they (Wal-Mart) take back depends on how much they're taking in. If the store isn't taking enough returns, they're more lenient about it. If the store has too many returns, they're harder on it.

I know I was a naughty boy one time and purchased a DS from Wal-Mart, it had a stuck green sub-pixel on it so I returned it to Wal-Mart (with receipt) for another one, even though that's not their job to handle defects that not even Nintendo would honor :x. Needless to say, my replacement was just fine and didn't bother me.

Something I did now to keep track of receipts is I purchased a zip-able section folder thingy from Wal-Mart that I now organized alphabetically and put receipts in there. Like I had a chair break on me (stupid company using 99% plastic arm-rest things) and I needed the receipt to have a new arm-rest sent... simply went into my thing, looked under the "RS" category, pulled out the receipts, found the Staples receipt with the chair... done. The only receipts that don't go in there are gas receipts, I tend to keep those in the car itself with mileage information written on them.

That's a good plan, but just make sure you don't get too OCD about it and start saving receipts for everything and anything FOREVER like my old man does.

Not much corporate can do or will do. They might even tell you the same. No receipt showing the transaction so he gets no credit.

They can't look up a receipt because you don't give them any unique information when you but the item. How could they possibly find out which transaction was yours? Unless you used a CC, then they might have a system for looking it up. When I worked at Staples 3 years ago they were able to do it but it took forever and was a PITA.

If stores started asking for personal info to be able to track down your receipts, people would get all upset and say they're trying to steal your identity or something. You know people would complain.
