I'm not embarrassed by who I have voted for. Why would you guess that? I'm only pointing out the fact that you have no idea who I have voted for in the past State, Local or Federal. The only thing you know is what I have told you: I voted for Trump twice and Bill Clinton once.
I voted for Clinton for his second term as I thought he did a good job during his first term. It had nothing to do with Bush Sr.
You voted for Trump twice and are still confused as to why reasonable people would think that you're a treasonous fascist fuck? Gosh, you're dumb.

Voting for trump twice and still to this day supporting his legion of thugs and liars and fascists makes you one of them. It doesn't matter who you've voted for in the past. Right now you are a fascist authoritarian moron and I will say fuck you fascists every time I cross your path!

Voting for trump a second time after seeing him in action for four years shows a lack of crucial basic and fundamental values. And he was running against Biden, not Che Guevara.

Continuing to support Trump after the 2020 election is simply unforgivable.

Musk is a great entrepreneur, but he is definitely a giant douchebag. I remember when asked about Texas's draconian abortion law he demurred saying he didn't like to talk politics.

Of course when he felt snubbed when the Biden administration did a press conference about reducing ICE vehicles, he did tweet about that. Even though it made no sense to have a EV brand at a conference about reducing ICE production.

And now about the ultra ultra rich tax. He's not worried about talking about politics, he just doesn't give a shit about women's bodily rights and kissing ass to his states government.

Of course he didn't refuse government subsidies and incentives that helped Tesla a ton, but now he doesn't want to pay shit, and instead plays fear mongering tactics of the worst politicians that if they come for a fraction of his insane about of his wealth, they are coming after all of regular Joe's stuff too.

Just a giant hypocritical asshole POS.

I'm not really seeing that the cities benefited from the enormous cost of rural electrification. Subsidies have entrenched rural communities that long lost any economic reason to exist.

Yikes. Are you suggesting American cities wouldn't have been affected had we lost WW2? Hundreds of the cooperative companies helped into existence by FDR back then are still around today, some of them even powering *drum roll* cities!

"What's in it for me" yeah, that attitude has really gotten us far lately. Not a fan myself.

Elon Musk is pushing humanity forward. You know I'm huge Elon Musk fanboy.

SpaceX/Starlink and Blue Origin/Amazon/Kuiper are not the only space internet projects. There's also AST SpaceMobile which I recently bought shares in. ASTS is lot more speculative but the stock has potential for big payday if they succeed. Not investment advice but it's a company you might want to check out since you have interest in this space. Also Rocket Lab. Rocket Lab is the only private company besides SpaceX that has successfully launched rocket into orbit. Not that low orbit crap like Virgin Galactic and Blue Origin. Peter Beck and Rocket Lab are the real deal.

Will check em out thanks.
We agree that Elon is pushing us forward, that is for your and mine definition of forward anyway.
Riddle me this though, do you think Elon is doing all this shit for humanity? I dont. He has this idea of colonizing Mars, but lets get real its infinitely more about "an exciting tomorrow" than it is "for humanity". His vision just so happens to align with what I believe humanity needs right now.

Getting to mars has nothing to do with doing it for humanity. It's all ego based. We have a big beautiful planet that we can invest in and thrive on, it's just that greed and ego get in the way. Getting shit into space, orbiting around earth, sending out telescopes, etc..., yes that helps us here on our planet. The mars thing is just ego.

Im inclined to believe you're right. But it will also be a beacon for the collective of humanity to lift our heads to and share a vision. I see it as a uniting force across borders.

If you are in a rural community that lost its economic reason for existing (mined out, lumbered out, low pay textile mill moved to Vietnam) decades ago you should get off your ass and get off the public tit and move to where the jobs are instead of sponging off the taxpayers. The country is littered with tens of thousands of small towns where the jobs left decades ago and aren’t coming back as the industries that provided those jobs closed up or automated the jobs away. Lying politicians have folks convinced that lumber jobs will return if we gut environmental laws when the feller bunchers replaced the lumberjacks at a rate of fifty to one. Lying politicians have convinced folks that coal jobs will also come back if we gut environmental laws when mine automation has replaced miners at a rate of a hundred to one. How long do you want us to continue to subsidize dead end towns? There are towns that that only existed because steam railroads needed to add/subtract engines to climb mountain grades. Steam has been gone for sixty years yet we’re still subsidizing the folks in those towns.

And the whole time we practice that socialism, people that benefit from it bite the hand that feeds. It's far out there.

I mean, if you can package what you said into a 3 word chant, maybe....just maybe you'd win back some of the voters in those areas.

Well you've been conservative and politically active at least since you've been a member here, so it's a safe assumption that you vote for conservatives, because you certainly defend them.

Further, conservatives are the ones that has fought against making broadband an utility and paying for it's expansion. Conservatives are the ones that have passed laws at the state level banning government entities from installing their oulwn networks. It's conservatives that have fought against accountability on the money given to ISPs to install internet in rural areas.

But you want to attack Democrats for saying "give the people what they voted for." I'm sure you won't ever attack a republican for going against the interests of rural people that vote for them, just like you'll never give credit to a Democrat for helping the rural people even though they voted for the other side.

Oh yeah, since you brought up hospitals, rural hospitals live and die on Medicaid, tell me which party expanded it for all Americans and which one blocks that expansion and has attempted numerous times to kill the whole program with block payments?

Once his income is taxed as highly as mine, maybe I'll think about caring. His real income, not the bullshit number he puts on his 1040 after he borrows millions against his assets.

Elon is right about it starts out as billionaire tax and then eventually moves down to millionaires and below. I think they might even come after your 401k and IRA. You don't need to worry because you don't pay taxes or have any money they can steal.

Elon is doing it for himself and humanity. Who's going to build Starship if not for him? How many hundreds more years would we might have waited? And who's to say we would still have the technology to do it? People take current knowledge and amazing technology for granted. Our know-how and technology can disappear if the world suffers couple big misfortunes and world changing events. It's not unreasonable to think access to knowledge and talent can die off without it being passed off to new generation. Just look at the decline in US space program after our moon program. We have to keep pushing forward, testing and expanding our knowledge.

US Income Tax was originally for the rich. But now it's universal although half the population still doesn't pay anything. In Argentina, government went after people's retirement accounts. It can happen if you don't push back until it's too late.

Elon is going to pay the max Federal and California tax rate next year when he exercises his expiring performance award options. He's going to pay 54% tax rate. That's 37% federal, 3.8% NIIT, and 13.3% state of California tax. Have you ever paid the max tax rate? He's going to pay over $10 billion in taxes to the IRS and California State Treasury. It will be the largest tax payment ever by US taxpayer. He's going to pay over $1 billion to the state of California which will also be the largest tax payment ever for the state.

Elon takes no salary other than the minimum wage required under California state law. He has bet and risked his entire fortune on himself and his companies. You are more than welcome to do the same. Have you started a business and risked all your money on the business? I have. So I know how hard it is, and he deserves every penny he makes.

Income tax? Really?
Anyway, this explains why you are against it but why ANYONE not yet is in the money should support taxation, yes specially on the rich as they have gained most from this mold.
