You know I thought that maybe all the comments about different stuff might clue some in on it.

I already consider this discussion as past any use.

I never said Valve was pure evil only that I feel they are not forthright about their conduct and that they took advantage of spammers to gain some cold hard cash. I mean another Valve move less than a week later also is going to give Valve some money does that just seem coincidental?

I hope Valve does get Linux on the desktop adopted to a significant share but I am going to make sure I use more platforms than Steam for my software.

And I also think for certain mods maybe for something like Falskaar that the modders have a right to ask for money but I am fully against any attempts by developers, publishers, or retailers to shift the mod community from friendly cooperation to capitalistic gain.

That becomes subjective then.

Maybe Valve can just let modders decide if they want it to be free or not. And let the open market decide what sinks or floats?

Honestly I think that the right way for this is for Valve not to sell mods at the current time or to run a very curated paid workshop until everything is up and running so that the Steam community gains some love for high quality mods.
