manly - Good catch I forgot the HostingMountain.com buy 1 month, get 5 months free special ended last night. Damn now I gotta update my sig!

dc - You're right $5 is a very small risk. Plus Alan doesn't go around calling himself "CEO Alan" and you're getting a realistic amount of webspace/bandwidth for your $5/yr.

geckojohn - I agree, next to RippleHost.com's $5/yr hosting AddAction.net's $9.95 setup fee and 6 MONTHS OF FREE WEBHOSTING is the next best thing. AddAction.net currently hosts my forums http://forums.gottadeal.com/ you get a lot of bang for your buck. I'll PM you a URL with more details on the 6 free months special, after the first 6 free months there is no further obligation you can either cancel your account or pay the regular $6.95/mo fee. 500MB/5GB is pretty nice, not too small or too much.

jrichrds - Thanks for your comments regarding switching from cPanel to H Sphere, I could see myself doing it but it would take a while to adjust. Currently I prefer cPanel. In a few months I'm going to ask Dixiesys to move my accounts from Plesk to Ensim so I can learn that as well.

Thanks for your consideration in not tempting some of us with yet another killer deal. 'Brown' has my $10,000 of software on his truck out for delivery and I don't need to be noodling around a new web site when it arrives. Heh (note to self: don't even think about searching WHT for AddAction).

(slight pause for reflection) On second thought RossMan, maybe you could post that one tomorrow.

and I just now PM'd you back.

AddAction.net is definitely the best hosting option right now especially since they recently DOUBLED the bandwidth from 5GB/mo to 10GB/mo, w00t!

RossMan, didn't I ask you, politely, not to do that today? But since you did, where do I sign?

Recap:
Ripple was the killer deal yesterday (Tuesday) @ $5/yr. for X-package.
HostingMountain, with Studio Site, @ $9/half-year (since 1 year is a lifetime in this business and requires PayPal) for XX became the killer deal this morning.
(Wednesday afternoon) HM is bumped by AddAction offering XXX.

Even though I got into this game way back on Sunday, and therefore consider myself HQ (host-qualified), just checking that, in general, one can't have too many of these things, right? Like, you can point users towards different sies at different times, right? Managing a portfolio of accessible distributed storage, who'd a thunk it?

sundog29 - So far we have covered 3 webhosting Hot Deals, the next level is $13.50/mo gets you a webhosting resellers account with 2.5GB webspace and 30GB bandwidth per month with all the usual goodies including your own ns1.sundog29.com and ns2.sundog29.com personalized nameservers but we'll save that Hot Deal for last. I plan on getting the 3.75GB/45GB for $20.25 per month and splitting the cost with some AT'ers who want reliable, fast but cheap webhosting.

Currently I'm very happy with AddAction.net I was even happier when I (accidentally) discovered today that their "The Plan" bumped the bandwidth from 5GB to 10GB a month, quite the pleasant surprise! I think so far about 15 people have PM'd me asking about AddAction, damn Ferengi's know a hot deal when they see it, feel it, taste it, lick it, you know what I mean.

I'll PM you the details regarding the $9.95 setup, 6 months free, etc.

Rossman, you mention "OSCommerce shopping cart" I can't find any info about it in the link. Does it throw Credit cards into an database for the owner to do auth. or is there some software/service to buy? Does it require more than basic HTML/XML?
Thanks for the offer.

Good question but unfortunately I don't know the answer.

The osCommerce listed in my sig is from the HostingMountain.com $1.50/mo deal which expires TONIGHT.

I would recommend e-mailing Neofree at sales@hostingmountain.com and asking him/her your questions.

Damn, how many posts do you have to write to become a "Grand Nagus"?

Is anybody else a Grand Nagus besides Rossman?

Did the Anandtech Mod make up the title Grand Nagus just for Rossman?

Danm, it's a long way from a senior to a gold member.

jodhas - Post count has nothing to do with it but if you're curious read this.

I simply have no life and live for Hot Deals, sad I know but it's an addiction :(

How much can you afford right now?

They're around all the time, just go to the WHT Advertising forums look in Shared Webhosting Special Offers or post a request in Web Hosting Requests.

Rossman,

Thank you! ;)
Been away for a few months and just returned.
Already saved $125.00 (for the year) using Ripplehost and Godaddy VS. my current host and domaine service.

Now, I hope I can set it up corrrectly.

Thank!!!

I'm in.
No idea of what-all I really signed up for except that it is bigger and badder than Ripple and HM. I'm also obligated to come up with something of a hands-on review, hopefully before RossMan offers up a better one.

johneetrash - The HostingMountain.com $1.50/mo is expired however the $4.99 RippleHost is still available and is a great deal. Alan has said the $4.99 won't be around forever and may expire at any time.

The BEST deal is the AddAction.net 500MB/10GB for $9.95 for 6 months, PM me for more details regarding that offer.

I am new to this. I registered a domain in namecheap.com and signed up the webhosting package in ripplehost.com. When I checked my status in namecheap.com, it says register failed due to the Invalid attribute value. What does it mean? I set the nameservers to ns1.ripplehost.com and ns2.ripplehost.com. Is that correct? Any websites have full detail how to do it?

I have all 3, as well as namecheap as my registrar, and they are all very good deals. No regrets. The industry is competitive, this is not the bottom of the market, and there will be more and better deals to come. Just follow this thread.

If you want to get started today, AddAction.net is indeed awesome, and Ripple makes a good, cheap backup site. For $18 registration and $15 hosting for the pair, there is not a whole lot of downside here.
