Looks like it went up to $9.99 after the first 50 signups? E-rice seems better at that price.

What makes you think it went up to $9.99 unless they recently (in the past 4 days) stopped doing the $4.99 plans.

Did you read this? I signed up this weekend and it was $4.99 not $9.99

I didn't signup, but everywhere on the site I went I saw $9.99 (or $9.95? something like that). Guess I should decide whether or not I want to sign up before the price does go up, or if I want to not be a cheap bastard and pay $5 more a year for more space and bandwidth at e-rice. I read your post on their board, but it didn't say anything concrete. The site says the deal was supposedly for the first 50 people; it can't take them that long to get that at that price.

Akki - Trust me they still have $4.99 accounts available unless Alan says otherwise. I know the site is a little misleading because you see $9.99 everywhere and the "first 50 customers" but that's why I specifically posted that thread to avoid questions like this.

There are a lot of webhosting choices out there but none of them can touch $4.99/yr but remember you get what you pay for.

ok i don't mean tobe the party pooper here but does anyone remember what happened to cyberwings? this is one of those hosts were things just do not add up even if they got a server from Rackshack, this still makes no sense unless they are waaaayyyy overselling. Also keep in mind that they still need to offer support and admin the server which cost more $$$. Yes they are many hosts that offer prices like this (you can find them at webhostingtalk) but is tht what you really want? In the end this is your choice but don't be surprised when they are gone!

I'm new to this. Do I need to go get a domain name first and then sign up with RippleHost?

Correct. First you need to register a domain, I highly recommend NameCheap.com for only $8.88/yr which offers a solid service ... then go to RippleHost.com and purchase a webhosting package. After you receive your RippleHost account info via e-mail you'll go to NameCheap and update your nameservers (I can help you if you need it, it's not that difficult) then upload your content to your RippleHost account and wait 24-48 hours for propogation.

If you have any questions please feel free to ask.

The $4.99 promo price may end soon and it goes back up to $9.99 and you are correct, after the first year the price goes up to $9.99

But still $9.99 for all this is a great price. Due to the limited resources I would only use this hosting for a small personal, hobby or family website not forums or anything else like that. Just register a domain with NameCheap.com for $8.88 add this for $4.99 and you have an awesome deal on your own webhosting including your own bob@whatever.com e-mail

To put this into perspective, Yahoo and Hotmail e-mail wants to charge you $10 - $20 per year for extra e-mail space. For $15/yr you can own your own domain name and have your own webmail (Squirrel Mail, Horde or NeoMail - currently I prefer Horde) with 100MB storage!

Someone correct me if I'm wrong but I believe it's autoinstalled in cPanel which is nice, no installation just click read webmail then choose either NeoMail or Horde (you have to install Squirrel Mail yourself if you want it).

Let's assume your domain is www.huesmann.com I would create a subdomain and redirect your webmail to webmail.huesmann.com

how is www.ipowerweb.com for a more robust(?) option. I called and they were willing to up the storage space xtra 100mb.

How much do you pay, is it per month or per year, how much website space and bandwidth per month do you get? They have a nice looking website and it loads FAST which is a plus.
