You were going 80 in a 65 and you got a ticket for going 80 in a 65? What are you planning on fighting?

He thinks because he wasn't driving erratically he didn't do anything wrong. Well just let him try to fight it. I'd like to see the judge laugh right in his face. Traffic judges never deal with BS and are always harsher than other judges cus they have to deal with retards like this that think they did nothing wrong.

Next time some douchebag is driving exactly the limit in the left lane throw him a smile for saving you from a ticket.

Huh? Aren't you basically validating what I said? They don't pull you over for lower overages because it's not worth it....

I believe her, she had no reason to lie about it. It could have just been one officer's motto for all I know, but it has held true for me at least a dozen times.

I always thought that hitting your brakes when you see the cop made you look even more guilty. I always just left the cruise on, 74 in a 65 on I5 in Oregon and I have never had a problem. The only time I've been pulled over when I was doing well over 10MPH over, lol.

Hitting the brakes is for the second clock (they like to get two readings). And also to warn other drivers behind you. Which tends to create a chain warning reaction that stops anyone from getting ticketed in that trap area. :whiste:

I know when I see someone way in front of me brake for no reason, I brake. But you'll never catch me driving carelessly because I watch the road like a hawk. Unless I'm preoccupied in which case I mosey over to the right lane and enjoy the brainless 55 mph.

Let me explain this to you slowly:

Speeding tickets are not a general tax on drivers. Speeding tickets are a specifically targeted tax on drivers who speed. Even though this is ATOT I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt and assume you can understand the difference between those two things.

Or am I giving you too much credit?

Speeding tickets are supposed to increase the safety of the road.
Speeding tickets are handed out to people who drive 65 in a 55 on a deserted road in mid-day.
What's the justification for fining a person for "speeding" if they aren't endangering anyone?

If a reasonable person feels that they can safely drive their car at a higher speed, yet the law sets an unreasonable maximum, then it's a tax on every reasonable person. Even if a reasonable person forces themselves to drive within the speed limit, it's still a burden on them, as they must forgo any use of logic or reason -- as a reasonable person would be apt to use -- and instead adhere blindly to the law that speeds over 55 are bad.

The laws against recreational drug use are very similar. Do you think that everyone who's smoked pot is unreasonable? Do you think the law that punishes people for what they do in their own home without endangering other people is reasonable?

Sounds like he was in control of his vehicle and wasn't driving in an erratic/reckless manner, so I don't see what he did "wrong" (in a general right/wrong sort of argument). Sure, he was breaking the speed limit, and thus the law, but I find it incredibly sheepish to put full faith in believing that there is some scientific formula that determines that any/all vehicles/drivers/conditions are taken into consideration when determining a road's speed limit, and thus what is a truly "safe" maximum speed for the road, or portion of road.

Ok so?????? You're trying to say otherwise?

Sorry we are all human and you are one too. You get pulled over doing 80mph on a clear sunny countryside road, you'd calmly accept and say 'silly me'. Right?

Prove me right ATOT member.

I mean, I'd clearly STFU about my ticket if I got a $800 one like you, endangering everyone on the road.

You were speeding and you got caught. I don't know why you'd need to rage about it. I've gotten many tickets and I've accepted them all cus I knew I was speeding. I didn't get all crazy and complain to everyone that I wasn't cutting lanes and act like a little kid about it. Accept it like a man and move on.

The justification is that any person with an IQ over 4 (sorry, I know that excludes you) understands the cost associated with getting a ticket and can then choose to avoid that cost by not speeding. They therefore drive safer at ALL times, both on crowded roads and deserted roads, during rush hour or mid-day. Don't want a ticket don't be an asshole. If you choose to be an asshole at least grow up enough to stop crying about being ticketed for being an asshole. But really, stopping crying still means that you're an asshole. So I'd suggest you stop that instead of stopping the crying. It's always best to attack the source of the problem rather than the symptoms. Your problem is that you're an asshole. Stop!

I did accept it like a man. I also plan on showing up to possibly get the ticket reduced/dropped. If that doesn't happen, that's okay. That's the investment I'm willing to make. Good thing you find the peace in yourself to accept it after getting the $800 reckless ticket. Who's the little pissy kid?

Am I involved in those fabled internet arguments with you now? Good stuff.

I did accept it like a man.

I'm not some teenage kid who drives like an ass that gets a deserving ticket. I completely sympathize with general ATOT mentality that you should pay up IF you've been a retard.

I got a ticket on I-90 in the bumfuck nowhere in upstate NY en route to Niagara Falls. It was a beautiful sunny afternoon, there were about 3 cars on the countryside stretch.

My car was set on 75mph cruise on perma-65mph zone and coming down a hill, my car hit 80mph. The douchy looking cop gave me the EXACT ticket for 80mph on 65mph.

I was not swerving left and right.
I was not swapping lanes like a maniac
I have a perfect driving record/point.

Man I'm so fucking furious. I was pissed off for the remaining half of day. WHOSE LIFE DID I ENDANGER? There are like FOUR cars on highway on a perfectly straight road. Was I being reckless? Was I going 85, 90, 95+ mph? I'd gladly STFU and pay the ticket if I was being the dumbshits you see on the road.

God it still pisses me off. I'm seriously debating to drive 2.5 hours each way just to fight this ticket.

Yea.. I'm just raging because you see fucking dumbshits that drive like utter cunts on the road (tailgating, swerving, recklessness and outright flooring at 100mph) that didn't get a ticket.

Fucking a.

umad?

You don't go by CC. CC is just a feature that makes it easier. Relying on CC to keep the exact speed all the time is stupid. Everyone knows this.

LOL...

I got a ticket or doing 61 in a 35. I wasn't even going 61 and the ramp is a speed trap also. Did i complain? No. I just went to court, fought it, got the fine reduced to $120, but still got punished in the butt with insurance. Am I complaining now? Nope. I was speeding (although, i was not going 61) and I got caught. Live with it.

Yeah, true. I brake when I see someone brake for no reason also.

You're wrong about the "2nd reading" though. They have zapped you long before you can see them, and have moved onto the cars behind you.

Of course, this all depends on the setup. Sometimes they can't be that far away or hide due to to terrain, etc.

It seems they like to be quite far away in Oregon.. lol.

You missed my point. If I was doing 61 in a 35, I'd stfu and accept it too.

Which is more dangerous, 36+ over the limit on a local residential road or a 80mph on a countryside interstate? Which ticket is easier to swallow?

Actually, You just described a general tax. That's like saying it's a tax targetted at all mammals who are humans.

Well fuck, everyone who drives happen to be humans.

And there isn't a single person in the world who does not speed. Well, maybe 42.

While I have exceeded the limit by more than 2-3mph on RARE occasions by accident, I could count the number of intentional speedings on one hand. NOT everyone speeds...at least not with any frequency.
