Ok, I'm going to try a modified "flashrom" that is on the same site you are linking to for bios here. They also have an
"empty.bin" bios that suppose to remove all settings.

Wish me luck!

Well, the modified flashrom worked... I'm back to 12 pipes and no artifacts!

Here is what they say;

"Several people have used a Gigabyte Bios and flashing tool to get around this, but for some reason you can not flash back to 12 pipelines with this method- if you have defective pipelines you keep them."

The method presented here uses a modified flashrom which does not preserve Bios settings.
This allows:

* flashing of any Bios
* going back to 12 Pipelines
* can not be detected

If you want to remove all traces of previous Bios flashes (for example if you flashed the Gigabyte Bios):
Use the Modified Flashrom to flash
the empty.bin to your video card, then flash the new Bios without rebooting. Be careful - if you don't flash a real Bios after flashing the empty Bios, your card will not work properly.

Now, the question is do you think my cards extra pipes are bad, or was it the Gigabyte Bios? The modified flashrom allows flashing to any Bios, so I could try another one.
Ha, yes I like living on the edge! What do you think?

My card overclocks very well as a X800 Pro Vivo;
Core up to 585 before having any problems, and a max temp of 64c
Memory up to 570 before any problems.

So the clocks are not a problem... I think it must be the Bios I flashed to or bad pipes.

What are your thoughts?

First of all thanks for the help! I ordered the ATI X800 PRO, not the sapphire, or the powercolor. Just the plain old ATI, and believe it or not i received a vivo card, with the 1.6 ram. I was very suprised, and the mod worked just fine for me. I was even able to flash back to original 12 pipes, with no problem! Had to try just to see if it would work. Just wondering if many others have found normal X800 PRO's that were VIVO'S with the 1.6 ram. Also what is the highest temperature that would be safe for these cards to run at?

You could try say the Sapphire x800 XT PE BIOS, could have been the previous BIOS at fault or bad pipes. Remember to reinstall the drivers after the flash. Give it a go anyway, you know how to fix it now.

You are very welcome Mega!

Well, I guess I'm stuck with 12 pipes. I tried several different bios flashes, including ATI's X800 Pro Vivo w/16 pipes bios. I can do nothing it seems to get rid of the artifacts when I have 16 pipes. The extra pipes on this card must be bad.

So I'm back to my original bios w/12 pipes and OC'd it to the 520/560 XTPE settings. Everything is running fine and I get a 3DMark of 11566... not to bad, but I sure would have liked the 16 pipes.

If anyone can think of anything else I could try, please let me know.

A few pages back (on page 7) I read that this guy named Avalanche was able to unlock the other 4 pipelines, while his card wasn't VIVO. How is this possible on a non-VIVO card?

Hi,

I have a Club 3D X800 Pro 256 Mb Vivo PCIExpress Card and I want to do w1zzard mod to X800 XT PE if its possible.

I´ve been seraching in http://bios.techpowerup.com/ for a Club 3D X800 XT PE (PCIE) bios file to do this mod but cant find any.

¿Anyone can help me? ¿Can I use any other file with this mod method and my card?

Thank you in advance.

OT simple question here, have an ASUS X800-XTPE AGP and as you can see on my sig my P4 2.8 is OC'ed to 3.2 Ghz, is my system a bottleneck for my video card?

yeah sure, your system is strong enough to handle the XT PE.

Sorry but there's no mod for the PCI-E version of the X800 Pro VIVO card.

Thanks MegaWorks,

I´ll try w1zzard method with ATI Original Bios. ATI800XT (PCI-e)

w1zzard tell me that her method must works fine with this bios in my Club 3D X800 Pro PCI-e.

As soon as possible I´ll post a full report for PCI-e X800´s Pro owners.

Thanks a lot.
