This card is excellent, it's a Sapphire VIVO very good deal indeed.

To everyone, which one do you prefer, retail or OEM?

Why don't you get a retail BBA X800Pro from Circuit City for $399? Most of them are VIVO, AFAIK.

Uh... I don't know where you live but I haven't seen BBA X800 Pro at Circuit City and Best Buy. Not even regular version. I got the one I have from bestbuy.com but I'm planning to return it as soon as my power color X800 Pro arrives. :D

Uh... some yes but it's not VIVO nor the one with 16ns memory. That's the problem.

got myself a Asus AX800 Pro VIVO. I will definately be trying the softmod. However, out of curiosity, just wondering, after a "succesfull" flashing, does the overdrive tab appear. Reason I'm asking is that I'm not too impressed with Smartdoctor, cause of issues with my old 9600XT and other peoples asus cards, Smartdoctor always seemed to have issues with ATI cards.

So instead of trying to flash my card from Pro to XT but still Asus, was wondering if that Overdrive tab will come up if I use a ATI BIOS.

Smartdoctor offers some great settings to play with for fan control and temp monitoring etc... But they are always late in the driver (currently 4.9 based) and with my past experience, if I can make my card beleive it is a built by ATI and supports the overdirve tab, I'll be a happy camper with radlinker etc...

Yes, if you flash to an ATI bios the Overdrive tab will be enabled.

Wohoo mine arrived at lunchtime today. :D

Sapphire x800 Pro VIVO, Blue PCB, it's got some 1.6ns memory on it too.

I will be trying out the pipeline mod soon but some questions:

Can I use one of the XT PE Sapphire BIOS's from here ??? And will it still enable the pipelines etc?

E.g. X800 XT PE (AGP) 256 MB (520 / 560) Samsung 1.6

I'll have to put on my Zalman ZM80D-HP Heatpipe cooler + ZM-OP1 before I do it though. Anyone know how the Zalman's compare to the Ati Silencer 4's?

Get the Silencer, and for the bios try the latest X800XT PE Bios from that page.

Ok I have a Question for you all.
I just put together a new Intel Socket 775 PC and Ive been looking everywhere for 3 months for a x800XT PCI-Express and cannot find one so I settled for a PowerColor x800Pro VIVO. Can this mod be done to the PCI-Express version of this card?

Anyone tried this??

MegaWorks or anytyone, any info if the "Toxic" versions will have the 1.6ns or if they are just like all the other VIVOs?

Yes the Toxic with VIVO is exactly the same as the normal VIVO X800 Pro.

Edit: All VIVO X800 Pro comes with 1.6ns ram.

I've successfully flashed my Sapphire X800pro VIVO with the ATI X800pro 16p bios. My card doesn't seem stable at PE speeds, but it does 500/500 without problem. Should I change to one of the Sapphire XT bios and, if so, which of the two listed?

Try the latest ATI XT PE bios. Some people report a better overclock from it. If that doesn't work and/or you still want more, better cooling will increase your overclock. Something like the Arctic Cooling ATI Silencer 4 would get you another 20 MHz or so.

Ladies, Gentleman.

I tooled around withe the Sapphire X800 Pro Vivo for a while - even had a scare there once when OC the card. Using Gigabyte's I was able to get my 16 pipes right off. Stock fan/cooler and the PE bios, I would get black screens/errors after several minutes of either the ATITool or 3DMark. Flashing back to the stock Bios, I could get the core and frequency to 506/576 max but running games brought my temp into the 80's. I purchased the Arctic Cooler Silencer 4 and cut back to 38 idle and 61 celcius peak. I tried finding the max core / freq. using ATITool 0.0.22 but my sweet spot is 505 / 565 Mhz. This was after running the test for about 30 minutes.

Should I be flashing the bios to PE again since the cooler is on, or am I maxed out on this card?

MegaWorks,

Thank you for the tips in this thread. I bought a X800XT vanilla that was in essence an underclocked PE, and now with a flash made it official.

Many thanks!

I think you're maxed out, why? cause you pushed the limit of overclocking it won't matter now if you change the bios again.

Haha, thanks. xD It worked for my Club-3D Radeon X800 XT as well. It's now a fullfledged X800 XT PE graphics card and rockstable! :D Thanks! <3

Well I ended up flashing my new blue PCB Sapphire x800 Pro VIVO card about 10 times, using method posted here and from techpowerup, erase BIOS, modded flashroms etc and it didn't appear to be working. Still 12 pipelines. Then I was about to give up for the night but then decided to reinstall the video drivers. On reboot, 16 pipelines were showing up!! :D

Comp specs in sig. Appears to be working perfectly at XT PE speeds (520/560) as you can see from my screenshots. I'm still going to try clocking it a bit more, run the memory at its rated speed (1200mhz) and increase the core speed a bit. Maybe I can reach X850 XT PE speeds (540/590).

I've got a underclocked x800 pro normal speed 2D profile loaded with windows (AtiTool setting) as it doesn't need to be at XT PE speeds 100% of the time. When in games it increases the core and memory speeds to XT PE.

Temperatures are really high even with a Zalman cooler on it. 92C on load. :Q So I've got an Ati Silencer 4 arriving shortly. The blimin stock cooler performs better than that Zalman. :(
