You have the XT, the only thing for you to do to get PE specs is to overclock your card at (520/1120).

Can i use the methods described here (and the bios files linked?) plus will the cooler on the card, considering the cards closer to p.e speeds be more suitable for the increased speeds/temperatures (ie i won't need to change it)?

I think your best solution is to overclock the XT to XT PE speed plus adding the ATI Silencer 5 cooler on top of the core.

on a slightly different note somebody mentioned that people could sell flashed x800 pro as xt's on ebay, and the bios would tell the computer that it was an xt. Are there any physical diffrences to tell them apart?? Such as a code number, different coolers, chips etc? Its just somebody I know is buying one, and I don't think they'd like paying for something thatwasn't as described.....

I've come across people on other boards that have had their modded Pro VIVOs go to chip heaven several weeks later, specifically the Club3D models.

Is it worth getting X800 Pro w/VIVO retail box version or should I just buy an OEM? I'm thinking about buying a retail box version of Power Color Radeon X800 Pro w/VIVO for $445 shipped.

To everyone, which one do you prefer, retail or OEM?

Need help! How can I get 12 pipes back. I flashed my GeCube X800PRO ViVo to XT PE but it's not working cood (unstable) so how can I get it back to orginal (12 pipes back)? Any tips? And I'm total noob, don't know s**t about things so detailed info would be great, thaks!

Did you backup your old bios? if yes then flash it back to into your card, if not then get it from here and flash it the same way you did with the 16 pipeline bios.

Did you backup your old bios? if yes then flash it back to into your card, if not then get it from here and flash it the same way you did with the 16 pipeline bios.

Yea, I tryed that but it only flashed my card to PRO, it still has 16 pipes, so HOW can I get it back to 12 pipes!?

Just flashed my X800Pro VIVO with the X800XT PE BIOS - so far, so good

EDIT: now this is interesting, I was getting around 5300 in 3dmark05 with X800Pro overclocked XT PE speed, flashing it to XT PE only gave me an extra 350 points or so. Is that normal?

Why don't you get a retail BBA X800Pro from Circuit City for $399? Most of them are VIVO, AFAIK.

Hmm.. I'm nut sure but I think you have to flash it with GVF11 program, isn't that the program that effected to pipes? But how Can I do that, it uses "*.f1" files but I haven't saw any x800pro12pipes .f1 files..

Does anyone have a list of the Vivo cards that use the Samsung 600Mhz (1200ddr) memory?

So far by looking up reviews I've found these cards that have the Samsung memory:

Gigabyte x800 Pro Vivo
HIS Excaliber x800 Pro Vivo
Asus X800 Pro Vivo

Any others out there? Apparently all the Gigabyte ones have been sold out in New Zealand and I need a new card pretty quick because I'm running off a TNT2 with 16mb RAM and wanting to play Half Life 2.

Also when you have memory chips designed to run at 1200mhz DDR, is it pretty much guaranteed that it will run stable at that speed??

What's the general consensus over brands for these cards? What makes one brand better than another or more expensive?

Get one of flash programs (flashrom 2.40 or Atiflash 1.8) then get the GeCube X800PRO ViVo bios file from that page and flash it.

I have bios files of cards that might use 1200mhz DDR memory, take a look at it.

Yep, got Cat 11 installed. Looks like my score (~5700) is right where it should be though, I was just a bit surprised when I got such a high score with the 12-pipeline Pro.

Every brand that makes the X800 pro might have a VIVO version, try the PowerColor. If the PowerColor is out of stock look for other retailers.
