User over at Reddit had a logical and thought provoking analysis of this news story. So essentially, Don Jr is trying to make this meeting a non-issue and play it off by claiming the Russian lawyer he met with had nothing to offer him and only wasted his time. However, it was Aras Agalarov through his son Emin and Rob Goldstone who set the meeting up. So if you believe Jr's story that nothing significant happened, you essentially have to believe that a Russian billionaire oil tycoon was duped by this lady saying she had "documents and information that would incriminate Hillary," yet in fact only wanted to lobby the Trump campaign? Seems highly incredulous, and ridiculous beyond the point of belief.

He made some other conclusions about the lawyer being a courier to deliver documents from Putin's agents, but those were much more circumstantial. You can read his analysis here if you're interested: https://np.reddit.com/r/politics/co...t_chris_hayes_provides_evidence_that/dk5xerf/

Is this lawyer still alive?

So both the Senate Judiciary and Intelligence committees want Don Jr to testify in open session.

And yes justice is slow but I believe it's slowly chipping away at the Trump clan and what has happened. And Mueller won't say a word until he presents all the evidence.

That's just what Goldstone claimed when setting up the meeting. There could be a variety of hustles going on, but Jr met with her in hopes of acquiring super-sekrit dirt on Hillary, not caring how it might have been obtained.

When it was all said & done, the Russians engaged in criminal activity to help 'em. They also employed state media & an army of trolls & bots. Trumpsters & triggered Bernie Bros fell for it all.

Yeah, it's almost impossible to believe that meeting was the end of it. Either "something" produced or they went on with it later. Combine the meeting with the immediate focus of the campaign on HRC's emails and it just reeks.

something was passed in that meeting, and it wasn't gas.

It doesn't matter. What matters is that Jr was down with complicity. Anything the Russians might have had to offer would obviously have been obtained via illegal acts.

Being a completely amoral dumbass is enough to condemn the guy.

America first? Only if Trump & the Repubs are running it.

we know that Carter Page traveled to Moscow the next month.

what he had and did are still just rumors at this point.

i agree that his complicity matters, but i also believe there is plenty more that matters and only helps to ensure the ultimate outcome here.

Is this lawyer still alive?

Why wouldn't she be? She settled a solid $290 million claim against her client for $6 million-as she said it seemed as if the US gov't (then Trump run) was apologizing for bringing the suit) AND through one simple one hour meeting she has-at a minimum- thrown the US gov't into more dysfunction and made the USA weaker. I'd say she was an all-star player for the Putin team.

Maybe it's time to acknowledge that this was the overall theme of the Trump campaign. The "other" is taking away our jobs. The "other" is raping and killing "our" people. It's distasteful, but the dish has been served....

Naw dude, the muslim ban wasn't about racism but a security concern just like Fox News said. Same as with mexican rapists; rape is a serious crime. So let's take 50 pages to discuss these nuances of national security and criminology.

But we don't have hard evidence of Russian criminal activity - yet. We do have the emails Don Jr. released.

That's just what Goldstone claimed when setting up the meeting. There could be a variety of hustles going on, but Jr met with her in hopes of acquiring super-sekrit dirt on Hillary, not caring how it might have been obtained.

Goldstone was relaying information coming from his boss, Agalarov. The point is if you're a Russian billionaire oil tycoon, and you contact the Trump Campaign at that time saying you have specific info, you're going to have that info or be left looking like a fool. So there are two conclusions you can draw from reading the emails, a) the Russian lawyer had the information and/or documents Agalarov claimed she did, or b) the Russian lawyer didn't have the information or documents. If you look at the context of the events and the players involved, it's highly incredulous and ridiculous to say no, the lawyer wouldn't have any good information or documents. Which is the claim Don Jr. is trying to make.

You don't know what words mean, do you? And you also seem to think that if you accuse the other person of doing what you're doing before s/he accuses you, that somehow magically transfers your idiocy onto them. That is some seriously kindergarten-level magical thinking there.

Still projecting I see. Also I realize you don't. You don't see what you can't handle seeing.

@disappoint, what's the matter? Does the light burn? Endure it; not like you have much choice anyway. Better now than later...

It is actually you that cannot handle enduring "the light", which is why you needed to put Moonbeam and a half dozen more on ignore.

That pic denotes you, using a megaphone and wearing a sign telling people how much better you are than them. The only problem for you that you fail to see is that the method in which you do it is coming from such a place of weakness.

Instead of showing others what a great person you are by actually being the better person you seek to destroy others with vitriol, hate and childish putdowns in order to make yourself seem superior by comparison. Instead you make yourself seem childish, spiteful, angry, foolish, and blind by comparison. I won't bother to tell a blind person to endure the light. You're not ready for that yet. But you've given away that you think I am, without having realized it. I wonder if you realize it now.

See, this is how I know what kind of person you are: you're committing the classic degenerates' sin, a subset of Pride, this being you don't know when you're in a hole. And when someone points out that you're in a hole, you flick them a V and grab a larger shovel.

I've seen this 3 or 4 times in the last month. I know how it ends.

Here's a free hint: I don't need to show myself to be a better person when the other person is showing himself to be a worse person. Staying in neutral looks like acceleration from the frame of reference of a person who's moving backwards.

...and for Cthulhu's sweet sake, if you actually think people like Felix or Chucky the Second are "the light," there is no saving you. Think before you say something like that!

Just for fun let's see how many mistakes in reasoning you've made in just the last few seconds:

1. "I've seen this 3 or 4 times in the last month. I know how it ends."
Believing that you can predict the future.

2. "I don't need to show myself to be a better person..."
Believing that bad behavior can be explained away by pointing out faults (false faults as well) in others and makes you look good by comparison.

3. Being in denial about your own behavioral faults.

4. "if you actually think people like Felix or Chucky the Second are "the light," there is no saving you. Think before you say something like that!"
Believing I said something I didn't say and think something I didn't in order to feel as though you are superior by comparison. This is evidence of the false faults I mentioned before.

5. "there is no saving you"
Believing there is no saving someone, that people cannot change or improve. Likely projecting your own unwillingness to do so yourself.
