Maybe making Don Jr. the lead in all of this and Kushner just somehow got caught up in it. Not sure. Heard that theory on all places Fox News.

From the NY times:
The emails were discovered in recent weeks by Mr. Kushner’s legal team as it reviewed documents, and the team amended his clearance forms to disclose it, according to people briefed on the developments, who like others declined to be identified because of the sensitive political and legal issues involved.

So is the idea they thought it would come out anyway and this is the least bad way? I guess that makes sense, but it's still pretty weird to leak documents that implicate you in a criminal conspiracy.

Yeah, I have no reason why someone in the white house would leak this. The only plausible explanation to me is that someone wants Kushner gone or someone was Trump gone.

Kushner lead the campaigns digital operation, no way he was just "caught up in it"

Have you been to the American South? It's fox and nothing else.

I live in Virginia which I thought was a little better than "The South" but most people I talk to only watch Fox News. That includes my mother who was born in Canada and has two masters degrees from Yankee universities.
This place can really brainwash you after a while.

Steele Dossier is becoming increasingly accurate as things that can be confirmed are confirmed.

Countdown to pee tape "leaking"?

Come on, Trumpettes! Comedy!

Watch it be more horrible than even Dump critics want it to be. Footage of him pulling out his baby carrot, or something equally searing to the mind's eye.

It'd be just a shame if something like that came out before the 2018 elections. Just terrible.

i see the 'indictments coming' thread as the master Russiagate thread but we could almost have a category just for Trump separate of P&N.
Too much trolling in that thread for me.

These threads though... you'd think it was YAGT with all of them Trumpettes being so triggered.

I swear the stories and leaks are multiplying at an exponential growth rate now
I would agree. There is a sense of inevitability growing.
Everyday I expect to wake up to the headline "someone in the trump campaign finally sings like a canary".

Would it even matter who among Jared, Jr & Kushner were most culpable? The three of them were aware of the pre-text for the meeting, knowing the party offering the information represented the Russian government, and turned up for it - they're outed.

It's a testament to how strong the propaganda machine that is radicalizing the Republican base is that they can still have this spun to them as something other than what it is; solid, and remarkably admitted to by Jr., evidence of collusion.

So now, at least publicly, it has moved from multiple stages of denial.

-'Russia didn't interfere, fake news, fat guy on his couch did it!'
-'Russia did it, we had no awareness or involvement'
-Russia did it, we attempted to collude and met with a Russian representative, but they gave us nothing, so it's nbg'

We've seen enough that is more than ample to expect arrests when Mueller is finished and indictment day is executed. I'm expecting we see Flynn, Manafort & Stone arrested. Then quite likely Kushner & Jr. as well.

Also the earlier stages only represent where things are at now. There is now enough exposed to expect that there reasonably was an exchange that was fruitful and involved a real attack. My bets are that given the timing of things, the emails Russian intelligence hacked and gave to wikileaks were known beforehand to the Trump campaign. I think this is what will come out eventually.

I think Trump's day of reckoning will come with the arrests. They can pivot to witch hunt and heresy! cries, until it is litigated and if it results in convictions. Regardless I expect the stench of arrests of people in his circle and that he will likely resort to pardons - rather than let them be dealt with by the law - should be enough to sink his ship.

So where are the "They're being railroaded!!!" and "This the biggest epic witch hunt of all time!!!" and "The Russians were only trying to help Trump make America great again!!!"

Are we skipping that phase and going directly to *crickets* now? Are things going that badly for the Trumpinator and his gaggle of goofy groveling groupies? (resident forum true conservatives aside).

Did Trump and Family already cut loose those stadium clearing mother of all farts where even their most rabid supporters have had to escape the stench of treason and oh so incriminating perjury laden falsehoods?

Or am I premature in my expectations?

Verily, I am appalled at the lack of support for the outsider who promised to drain the swamp, who promised to build the wall, who promised to bring jobs back, who promised much better and cheaper health care for all and who with such humbleness didn't even mention that he also intended to give a really nice big tax cut for the very deserving ultra wealthy of our nation to boot.

- That is the real scary part IMO, it is easier to rally up than to wind down. How are you going to handle all these "patriots" post Trump. Its a nightmare.

Good job with the alliteration, though as a result of threads like this, I prefer to refer to them as Mugatu impersonators.

It's a significant (and, to be honest, very entertaining) story, and it's important that the truth should come out, but I just constantly find myself thinking that a few leaked emails are hardly up there with the US's own long track-record with regard to other countries' choices of governments (and Democrats are as implicated in that history as anyone). I'm sure Allende would have been relieved if the US had just given his opponents a few embarrassing emails (or letters/telegrams). What goes around comes around, but it's tragedy repeating itself as farce.

She still watches even when you tell her that Fox is the Sexual Harassment Network? Or does she think that was fake news?

When is big Trump going to tweet that Donald Jr wasn't really a big part of his campaign, and that he didn't really know the guy all that well anyway? Hey, what I heard is that he is probably the one that hired Manafort, whom I also didn't really know and was just a minor part of the campaign also!

"recent weeks" doesn't line up with the one reporter on twitter (can't remember name) that went apoplectic over Don tweeting the emails out. He said he'd been on the story for like a year. This is why I think it was leaked from the investigation. Along with all the other reasons I've already stated.

Did not go apoplectic. He has been working on a book for a year. He was dumbfounded and thought it was funny.

The book is still coming out.

Seemed to be rage tweeting based on what I read. Can't see how someone would think it's funny if a years worth of their work was essentially just flushed down the shitter.

Trump has brought me to the conclusion that we don't have strong enough ethical laws. I don't think our laws have ever imagined a President like Trump or these new age Republicans. Generally what wasn't illegal was so politically damaging that people wouldn't do it. Trump has thrown that on its head. Without the fear of political damage our laws are nowhere strong enough to curtail all the unethical behavior and conflicts of interest Trump or any President who has willing party can present. I hate to say this, but Trump has president has made me realize how ethical our previous presidents have tried to be and hos behavior may become the norm.

I agree with what you said. Just the fact that the President tried to tell the American people that ethics rules don't apply to him should have been enough for us to be calling for a reform of our ethics laws to make it absolutely clear that they do apply to both the office and the person of the President.

The law’s totally on my side, meaning, the president can’t have a conflict of interest.”
