I don't think McCain is willing to take the actions it takes to win. Specifically he seems to have placed Rev Wright off limits.

It may be an ugly story, but it may also help him win the election. I see McCain following in Dole's footsteps of losing respectably, although it has been an awful ugly election already.

A 263-page report released by lawmakers in Alaska on Friday, found that Ms. Palin, the Republican vice-presidential nominee, had herself exerted pressure to get Trooper Michael Wooten dismissed, as well as allowed her husband and subordinates to press for his firing, as a result of a divorce proceeding between him and Ms. Palin?s sister in 2005.

?Such impermissible and repeated contacts,? the report states, ?create conflicts of interests for subordinate employees who must choose to either please a superior or run the risk of facing that superior?s displeasure and the possible consequences of that displeasure.? The report concludes that the action was a violation of the Alaska Executive Branch Ethics Act.

In the report, the independent investigator, Stephen E. Branchflower, a former prosecutor in Anchorage, said that Ms. Palin wrongfully allowed her husband, Todd, to use state resources as part of the effort to have Trooper Wooten dismissed.

The report says she knowingly ?permitted Todd Palin to use the governor?s office and the resources of the governor?s office, including access to state employees, to continue to contact subordinate state employees in an effort to find some way to get Trooper Wooten fired.?

Further, it says, she ?knowingly permitted a situation to continue where impermissible pressure was placed on several subordinates in order to advance a personal agenda.?

I honestly think it was destiny that Obama wins, and as such a Republican collapse of epic proportions isn't surprising. The severe economic crisis is another symptom of all this. I'm not saying it's the same as God giving Moses the tabernacle and laying waste to the philistines, but I do see parallels.

If a Republicans suggested that it was destiny that McCain win they would be called a religious nut.

I guess this shows that their are nuts on both sides.

Except that her opponents won't let her forget. And it won't be just Democrats. The report was approved by the unanimous vote of a majority Republican Ethics Committee.

And it won't just be politicians or parties. She used her position of power in the state to damage the reputation and income of Walter Monegan, the Public Safety Commissioner she fired and defamed, and it's on the record.

Except the Democrats of course who will ignore any problems of their candidates, but claim that this disqualifies her from office.

Those of you that are thinking Palin will be the Republican nominee in 2012 will be dissapointed. She has absolutely zero appeal to moderates, let alone Democrats. In fact, she moved most of the remaining Hillary supporters that were on the fence towards Barack Obama. Her only appeal is with the "base".

In all the polls I've seen, she is the one with the most unfavorables out of the four candidates. I highly doubt she would make it through a Republican primary.
