Has anyone asked the question if she had the legal right to fire the trooper why didn't she just fire him?

Answer is she didn't have the courage to do her own dirty work. The story would have been Governer fires trooper over family issues. She veered of into illegality trying to get others to fire him for personal reasons. If the tazer stories are true and I was in her position I would have wanted him fired.

If people want honest government those in charge have to be upfront with people.

I think the moose shooting is the best accusation in there.

What has never been mentioned up until this point was that:

A. Her sister was there

B. HER DAD BUTCHERED THE MOOSE.

So anyways.

Did she have the right to fire the trooper directly?

HEY!!! I want to say something as a Mod, here, then get back to posting....

This is possibly a deal making/breaking moment in history that will be worth discussing for awhile.

I'm not in the middle of this other dust up so I'd like to suggest that everyone get over this for now and get back to the topic. Calling out a mod, or arguing about it can just derail a good discussion about serious issues.

If that's what you have in mind, I can't stop you, and whichever mods are watching over this thread will deal with it. I'm just posting.

Per Gov Palin being cleared of all ethics charges, in good will I would like to offer Harvey and any other liberals who wish for me to send them a spatula to scrape off the layers of egg on your faces.

Deal making/breaking moment in history..

Hello, earth to hellokeith, if you think this sham investigation by the State personnel board rigged in Palin's favor changes anything, I suggest you stay tuned. When the Alaska legislature returns from its current adjournment in 2009, the findings of the previous bi-partisan committee still stands, the ethics complaint still remains, and the full Alaska legislature will have to make the only valid final determination.

Long odds, Palin will still be Alaska governor because McCain went down 11/4/2008, so troopergate is an issue that still hangs over Palin's head.

Since you are from Texas and I am in Indiana, we have no Alaskan legislators to write to, and I am not going to even try to predict what the Alaskan legislature will do.

FWIW, Palin has been cleared in the Troopergate scandal. She has not been cleared yet in her KiddieGate charges (improperly claiming her children were on state business to get the state reimbursement) , her PerDiemGate chages (her claiming per diem for days when she stayed at home), and the FashionGate charges (the FEC complaint regarding her $150k wardrobe).

There were two separate inquiries. One done by the state legislature (dominated by Republicans) said she abused her power. One that she appointed herself said she didn't. Shocking otucome I tell you.

Eskimospy makes a valid point, Palin, bless her triple dipping heart, is likely to be facing a dozen or more totally new ethics charges in 2009, and troopergate may become the least of her worries.

Palin should be shuddering to even contemplate what the Alaskan tax payer will be thinking when various abuses are added up, and tabulated in the media. There may be nothing wrong with putting lip stick on a Pitt bull, but when that very expensive lip stick bill is footed by the Alaskan taxpayer, I can predict many many unhappy campers.

Nope. They are appointed by the sitting gov. to investigate improprieties by the sitting gov.

It's pretty much akin to CEOs picking the members of their own compensation board.

You remind of the guy who just won't stay down in a fight - as if you like getting beat up. You might want to get this checked out. You're not right and never will be - not even like a stopped clock. Give it up.

Although the state personnel board ? its members are appointed by the governor ? found that Palin had violated no ethics laws, a separate investigation by the state Legislature found that she had abused her office. She dismissed the critical report as the product of partisans.

Got that? The state legislature elected by the people of the state of alaska, made up of dems and reps, in a bipartisan effort found Palin abused her power. Palin called this report the product of partisans.

The state personnel board, made up of members that Palin herself appointed, found her cleared of all allegations. And this is a group of "non-partisans"?

Oy vey, and thank the god she prays to that he had enough wisdom to prevent her from taking office as veep.

I learned If there is one thing she is good at, it is lying through her teeth with a straight face. Goes very well with their so-called "straight talk" slogan  maybe thats what they saw in her as her true strength when they were nominating the VP candidate.

You forgot to mention that in Alaska, anyone with half a shred of common sense knows that if you criticize Palin, and she has the power to remove you from your cushy job, you're going to be out of work.

Well my wife has since returned mid-thread and supplied the missing piece of information I was unaware of.

It seems Rush Limbaugh had this very talking point on his radio show today, regardless of its source, its still logically flawed, but when Rush speaks, an army of dittoheads is sure to follow.

My wife and I occasionally listen to Rush for comic relief, but not always at the same time.
