So much for her fighting corruption. The 'new wave' republican party's hypocrisy knows no bounds. I hope McCain is stupid enough to KEEP her on the ticket.

Isn't it too late to find a new VP?

Dick Cheney available?
I bet Dan Quayle is.

Ah yes...Dan Quayle...the only guy who "speaks dumber" than Bush...

"I am not part of the problem. I am a Republican. "

"I have made good judgements in the past. I have made good judgements in the future."

"The future will be better tomorrow. "

" I stand by all the misstatements that I've made."

" If Al Gore invented the Internet, I invented spell check."

"It's wonderful to be here in the great state of Chicago. "

"My friends, no matter how rough the road may be, we can and we will, never, never surrender to what is right."

"Republicans have been accused of abandoning the poor. It's the other way around. They never vote for us."

"This President is going to lead us out of this recovery."

"Welcome to President Bush, Mrs. Bush, and my fellow astronauts."

"Quite frankly, teachers are the only profession that teach our children."
I've heard that Dan Quayle was legendary for saying stupid things, but haven't been exposed to it. Did he really say those things????? :Q

He said all those things and MORE, with his trademark deer in the headlights, special kid on amphetamines look.

He's the one who, while visiting a classroom, told a 12 year old to add an 'e' to the spelling of "potato."

Perhaps the greatest gift to Republicans was that Quayle actuall ran for President after losing the election with Bush Sr.
It made the rest of the Republicans look like geniuses next to him.

I just saw a clip of Palin at a press conference. She said she's pleased that no wrongdoing was found. WTF??

The Republicans will spin this so hard they risk slowing the earth's rotation.

Think of her 'Ethics' like being in a bank account. If you never have to use your ethics, you obviously have all of them.

But don''t forget that sometimes things happen and a bank account gets way overdrawn, and nothing is put back in.

Just like with today's financial crisis, there are some that are nothing but bankrupt shells when looked into for substance.

Never was a fan of quayle but don't think he would win the idiot contest with palin and bush. Interesting that repugs seem to celebrate mediocrity.

"The republican party: proud home of mediocre leaders".

It's time for this party to be dismantled. It needs to be put out of its misery like a sick, rabid animal. It's an embarrassment to americans everywhere.

Well, I've to admit I was completely wrong about this. It's gained almost no traction whatsoever. I really have no clue why. It's not like the economy is bigger news, because there is still plenty of political news. This has been a long standing case since she was added to the ticket with people wondering what would happen, now it finds that she abused power and everybody has suddenly forgotten it. I find it very strange.

Now I read that link where she's just completely denying plain-text, English-language statements in direct contrast to her claims.

What the FVCK, people, are we in the Twilight Zone or something? This is tremendously freaking crazy. I don't understand the people in this country, no matter how hard I try. They just keep disappointing.

EDIT: Fresh article on CNN

I still remain confused as to why this has not essentially written her off for office in the Whitehouse. She was warned along with her aides to drop the matter, she did not and broke ethics laws by using her public capacity to effect personal preferences, and we simply aren't hearing much about it at all.

I agree with Skoorb, by in large, the GOP is trying to give the troopergate the silent Katrina treatment. And the democrats are not doing much to capitalize on it. But I imagine it will get some mention on the one remaining debate, while the democrats reserve the right to pump it up closer to Nov. 4.

With Obama now well ahead in the polls, he does not have to go negative, and going negative does not fit an Obama upbeat and optimistic message of positive change.

And when the McCain Palin ticket loses, Palin will have to deal with troopergate in Alaska, as that entire State realizes Palin did not put them in a very good light.

I told you guys troopergate would amount to nothing because people tuned out 3 days after she was picked and the level of crazyness went through the roof.

Secondly from what I can tell the report didnt say anything we already didnt know. What she did was legal but crossed ethical lines.

I happen to agree with you on this. It is really sad in the lefts pathetic lust to smear Palin, a real story ended up meaning nothing.

I tend to disagree with the lefts pathetic lust to smear Palin thing, anyone who took the trouble to find out the real Palin record knew this troopergate finding was made inevitable by the facts.

What is lost really, is the Palin the reformer record that Sarah could also legitimately claim. And even as a democrat first learning about her, there is some quite legitimate positive reforms Palin pushed through, she did stand up to big oil, and got some very positive reforms enacted into law.

But instead, the GOP has transformed Sarah Palin into their cartoon parody of a pull string chatty Cathy doll spouting pit bull talking points while energizing the
most ugly parts of the GOP base.

Very little of the real Sarah Palin remains in the public eye.

The probe is being extended to include the investigation of other possible ethical violations.

I thought the report clearly spelled out what Alaska law(s) she violated. By definition, a violation of the law is illegal. From what I understand, it is legal for her to fire someone for any reason, but it is not legal for her to pressure someone to perform their job in a manner that benefits her.

I still find it confusing. I take it as this:

1) She was 100% "legal and proper" to terminate this guy.
footnote As governor, she has that power and since it's not in dispute there was no illegality.
2) She broke an ethics law, but since as governor she has the legal right to fire this guy, she technically broke no law at all in her firing of him.

it is confusing, at least to me :)

From what I gathered it had more to do with her husband using the fact that he's married to the Governor to try and strong arm the Commissioner into firing her ex BIL and that she didn't do anything to reign him in.

Simple matter is Obama is winning. There is no need to change message or focus with respect to Obama's campaign. Not only can they use the actual investigative report, but they can use the FALSE report that McCain's campaign released a day before...

As Rush Limbaugh would say..... THIS IS GOLD FOLKS!!

But Obama's camp is sticking to the message, and taking the high road on this. Honestly I don't think that would be the case if the election was closer. If Obama needed the ammo then they would use it.

In the end, his message is the right one, more importantly, its the right message that people want to hear NOW.
