1. It's based on a children's toy.
2. I gotta laugh at everyone claiming Queasy is "sheltering" his children (sideline parents). It sounds to me that he's taking an active role in his kids lives and actually being a parent and not just an overgrown friend.

:thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:

Batman was originally a comic. The latest two batman movies were freakin awesome. Should that movie be gayified so kiddies can watch?

Your logic is made of fail.

You also realise that when his offspring grow up they can watch the movie then. I daresay they will be rebelling and smoking pot by then anyway, cause they were smothered as children

I think you're unnecessarily being kind of a dick...but you are absolutely right. The movie was "Rated PG-13 for intense sequences of sci-fi action violence, language, some crude and sexual material, and brief drug material" (from imdb.com) If you're concerned about the contents of a film, well, it says right there what it had in it. You shouldn't take a kid to the movie if you don't feel that stuff is appropriate. Its not like it was rated G for Gumdrops and had hardcore porn in it.

Hey, I took my (then 6 year old and 4 year old) to see transformers 1. It was awesome, kids liked it. My wife had to wait in a long line at the bathroom at which time she got into a massive argument with some psycho woman who scolded her for being a bad parent for taking such young children to see that scary movie. So..if that lady happens to be on AT, GUESS WHAT..I'm taking my now 8 year old and 6 year old to see the second one, and I hope it is just as action packed as the first.

well, your in luck. its even better than the first and has A LOT of action the entire time. it is GREAT!

The dumbest thing anyone can do is take a single review at face value.

That's why I play it safe and use meta-review sites. And the verdict is:

RottenTomatoes
Transformers - 57% total, 68% cream-of-the-crop, 80% user
Transformers 2 - 21% total, 21% cream-of-the-crop, 68% user

MetaCritic
Transformers - 61/100 critics, 7/10 user
Transformers 2 - 39/100 critics, 6.7/10 user

Yahoo! Movies
Transformers - B-minus critics, A-minus user
Transformers 2 - C-minus critics, A-minus user

Basically, this movie is getting demolished critically, but the target demographic for this movie (children, teens and young adults) will still give it high marks. Chalk it up to people loving uninspiring humor and loud explosions.

so from reading through this thread briefly, this is what i'm getting ...

most people who saw transformers 2 and did not like it also did not like transformers 1 ...

MOTHER FUCKING SHOCKER!!

a lot of the people who watched it last light, who saw the first one, was already wanting to not like it. they told themselves that it was going to be bad and that is why they try to find faults

I personally loved both, this one being even better than the first.

I went in wanting to like it, if I think a movie looks bad Im not going to watch it, I wont go see it and then look for its faults. The previews for this one looked decent and made me want to see it but it didnt deliver.

Also, people who saw the first one and didn't like it are much less likely to go back and see the second one. I think everyone knows that this movie is just more of the same so they already know whether they'll like it or not before they walk into the theater.

I mean, there might be a few people who liked the first and didn't like the second, or ones who didn't like the first but went to the second anyway because their friends dragged them there, but in general the user reviews will be higher because the only people seeing it already know they'll like it.

lol, why is everyone refusing to watch it? Kind of childish IMO.

"childish" more closely defines the type of personality that enjoys this brainless and idiotic style of action, rather than those that can distinguish between a solid piece of quality work and effort and a colossal waste of money.

I'm reading through page 7, and I see that the whole page is pretty much you talking to yourself about a movie that you say you don't care for.

I see why you're a lifer.......and I'll bet money you see this movie just like you saw the first.

an you on the other hand have convinced yourself that you are going to like it and you have to like it to counter people like zinfamous.

If only all film students could learn to enjoy movies that have no artistic merit instead of acting all superior and belittling people who are able to enjoy such things... if only.

I think a lot of film students can do that, but a lot of film students also know shit when they see it.

<-- not a film student

The movie sucked. It was horrible. Action without purpose is useless. The character development was not there. The story line was incomprehensible.

Steaming pile of dog shite.

Saw the 10:15am showing of it today. Didn't love it but it delivered what it promised. The lack of Sideswipe screentime was disappointing and, to avoid spoiling things and going into detail, Soundwave's appearance was positively lame...Though Ravage was awesome, especially when you compare his role to stupid Frenzy's in the first.

Otherwise, the action was great, but the story beneath was boring as usual. And yes, I will buy the Blu Ray when it comes out :D

Oh and one more gripe, the opening scene covering what's been happening since the last film cheapened the film, IMO. The concept was fine, but how it played out was campy. Again, I won't go into detail due to spoilers and such, but it was a pretty corny way to tie up the loose ends.

It wasn't nearly as bad as everyone is making it out to be. The easiest way to judge a long movie's suckitude is to simply think about how long the movie feels. It didn't really feel like a two and a half hour long movie to me, so it wasn't too bad. I do agree with Queasy still that it could've done without some of the nonsense.

Also, it didn't seem like the cursing or pictures of Megan Fox changing (in the beginning if you really wanna see it for that) curbed a lot of parents from bringing their children :p.

I'm not even sure how soundwave got that appearance....

I think especially in light of the pure geeky awesomeness that was the new Star Trek movie, watching a moving so devoid of a coherent plot or tightly-sequenced action scene is going to be hard.

Movie reviews don't exist in a vacuum. Movies (especially sequels) are often judged by their predecessors, and by their competition.

I'm far to old for Transformer movies. I think that stuff appeals to the young kids.

Just got back from watching it and it wasn't that good.

Take the first one and double the fighting scenes, the cheesy love story and cgi and you will get this movie.

One of the robots had a set of testicles...........come on.

some of the fight scenes were really cool though.

sounds great then, first one was awesome and had great action scenes and special effects, just what i expect from a summer flick

Great action scenes? You have to be kidding me. The whole 8 minutes in the movie? First one was a pile of turd. This one is just a steamy pile of turd.

Sure it did, in number and kind. I was very disappointed by J-J's Star Trek, and pleasantly surprised by Transformers I -- as a matter of perspective and expectations.

Transformers is about giant robots who morph into vehicles. Exactly what to you expect to get out of such a movie? If it's got some cool action scenes, fireworks, and a passable plot if you don't think too much, it's a win.

Star Trek should be a whole other ballgame, but it wasn't, so from that perspective, it was a huge disappointment to me.

Just came back and I thought people are too hard on the movie. I came in expecting and explosive action-fest and I got it. Fighting felt like it was on a much grander scale than the first. The only gripes i had were about the story.

**Spoiler** After building up about how all powerful The Fallen is, he got his ass kicked in about 2 minutes *yawn*. And you would think some archeologist would have discovered there's a whole room right behind that thin ass wall. Also how did Megan Fox get to Sam's school so fast when we was supposed to be "far".

But I got what I expected from a Bay movie, loud explosions, lots of military hardware, and lots of eye candy from Megan Fox and the other girl..

Btw, the cursing and the "sex" scenes were not that bad at all. Some of you guys are really sensitive.

Overall I would say this was a 7.9/10.

Best "That was awesome!" part of the movie: The rail gun. That was AWESOME.

Worst "That was lame" part of the movie: The notion of prehistoric tribal tranformers like humans had tribal ancestry. That was lame.
