I think the restrictions start at 630am don't they ? Just tell him to go in earlier. Strike a deal with the boss to leave early too.Originally posted by: magicfame

They did a poll of NY'kers on Fox 5 news and only 66% of us are against unions. WTF ?! Are 33% union members or family members ? WTF ?!Originally posted by: Black88GTA

wow amazing story of greed. just amazing.
i really can not beleive they want a 8% raise every year for 3 years! wow.
I hope they get fired. Crap like this is one reason i hate unions.
And now, the entire city of New York and its surrounding areas all hate unions. Unbelievable that they pull this $hit a week before the holidays. :| I really hope they don't think they're gaining any form of public support from this little stunt.
Basically, the way the public sees it - they are screwing millions of people who rely on public transportation to function - people who are now basically immobilized. Millions can't get to work, or anywhere for that matter. They are essentially taking the holidays away from those who must travel to be with loved ones.

About gaining public support - the union president in his "let's strike" speech basically closed with "let's show the MTA that the TWU (union) does not stand alone". So they are hoping to gain support from us. He also cited the reasons for us to back them should be that they stood for the public in the past asking to keep token booths open, conductors on the trains, and no fare hikes. Gee, I wonder if any of those were self-serving at all... :|

I'm hearing cabs are picking up multiple fares too.Originally posted by: MrChad
So much for the contingency plan!
My wife is a public school teacher who had to make her way from our Manhattan apartment to the Bronx. Two taxicabs refused to take her to there (a violation according to the TLC passenger rights) and the third cab would only take her for $45! So much for the "zone rules", which should have limited the charge to $15-20. Absolutely ridiculous.
