Havent you seen the Futurama episodes where the Professor shows them the "what if" machine?. And I wouldnt say protected, this was more of a penis envy for the two great powers of the world at that time, Europe just happens to be there in the middle.

The whole world certainly does not "hate" the US. The US is a superpower, and at this moment in history, it's the only superpower. Superpowers throw their weight around, and they are bound to have enemies. The trick is for the US to remain a superpower without trying to dominate the world. Unfortunately, the image the US has been showing more and more to the rest of the world (both allies and enemies alike) is that of the proverbial schoolyard bully. It would be wise to sometimes tone it down just a little.........

Ding Ding Ding Ding.........you get the prize...................no matter how much some of the European countries dislike us at the present time, can any of you deny the fact that if the exact equal occurance of 9/11 had taken place in any European country, the U.S. would have been the first one there with assistance in money and manpower both in enormous quantity, and also with defense of whichever nation it would have been????? I wager to say our position would have been nearly the same as it is now as well as our policy!

Once again the above fact supports what I wrote a few posts above...........the U.S. will, at the drop of a hat go anywhere to help nearly any ally country with aid or defense no matter the risk to itself...........this has been proven time and time again.........

As an American I don't hate the rest of the world (except the french of course).

Keep in mind what we hear about foreign governments and their media don't always reflect the feelings of their people (you remember, those little guys who work hard and pay taxes).

Not sure what you mean by "transfer of power" but the most "peaceful" nation in recorded history is Korea.

Check out the history of Korea and please tell me any other state that experienced a longer period of peace (if you find any).
