<< Oh, Czar, my Icelandic friend. If it wasn't for the United States, western Europe would have become a part of the Soviet Union. >>

So where did you get that "what if" machine?

And might I point out, if it wasnt for Europe the US would be inhabitated only by indians and you would never be where you are today.

<< No, the whole freakin' world hates the US government.

Including me.
>>

That's too bad........:( Why may I ask????? Is it something inparticular, or merely a "partisan" dislike?????;) If it becomes to intolerable..........there are plenty of alternatives!:)

What do you mean "what if?" The United States protected western Europe from Soviet advances for 50 years.

Havent you seen the Futurama episodes where the Professor shows them the "what if" machine?. And I wouldnt say protected, this was more of a penis envy for the two great powers of the world at that time, Europe just happens to be there in the middle.

Well, that's an astute statement, considering the fact that most Americans emigrated from Europe (my family included).

Wow! If most Europeans hold that opinion, we should have let the Soviets consume the European continent.

The thing I find most annoying is how everyone complains about how the US meddles in other country's affairs, but when they need help, we're the first one on the list.

The whole world certainly does not "hate" the US. The US is a superpower, and at this moment in history, it's the only superpower. Superpowers throw their weight around, and they are bound to have enemies. The trick is for the US to remain a superpower without trying to dominate the world. Unfortunately, the image the US has been showing more and more to the rest of the world (both allies and enemies alike) is that of the proverbial schoolyard bully. It would be wise to sometimes tone it down just a little.........

<< The US is the greatest nation in the history of the world, >>

WRONG.

Chinese, Roman, and Alexander Empire ARE the GREATEST NATIONS OF ALL TIME.

US is ONLY 200 years old, it has yet to prove that.

Go back to history textbook.

When we hold back (like we've been doing for the past decade) we're taken advantage of.

Ding Ding Ding Ding.........you get the prize...................no matter how much some of the European countries dislike us at the present time, can any of you deny the fact that if the exact equal occurance of 9/11 had taken place in any European country, the U.S. would have been the first one there with assistance in money and manpower both in enormous quantity, and also with defense of whichever nation it would have been????? I wager to say our position would have been nearly the same as it is now as well as our policy!

Once again the above fact supports what I wrote a few posts above...........the U.S. will, at the drop of a hat go anywhere to help nearly any ally country with aid or defense no matter the risk to itself...........this has been proven time and time again.........

And the reason they were called 'empires" was because they wanted to physically conquer the entire known world.

We could have taken over Germany and Japan after WWII. But did we? No! Instead we gave them billions of dollars to rebuild their countries.

As an American I don't hate the rest of the world (except the french of course).

Keep in mind what we hear about foreign governments and their media don't always reflect the feelings of their people (you remember, those little guys who work hard and pay taxes).

Is the United States preparing to march into Canada or Mexico? You're a pure, unadulterated idiot.

Not sure what you mean by "transfer of power" but the most "peaceful" nation in recorded history is Korea.

Check out the history of Korea and please tell me any other state that experienced a longer period of peace (if you find any).
