5x45 = 225
5x88 =440
5x110 = 550
5x132 = 660
----------------
=1875

3x5x176 = 2640

4515 + 330,666 = 335,181

Lets not count the 'warm up sets' as they do not contribute to your training sets lads!

140kg x 3
150kg x 1
160kg x 1
170kg x 1
175kg x 1
180kg x 1
187kg x 1 : +7kg PB on 1RM
= 3172lbs

for sh!ts and giggles...
100kg x 20reps : Smashed out the first 10reps in 26seconds then took a further 65seconds or so to get the last 10reps out...completely punishing!
100kg x 20reps : why do this? I paced myself better and did them in groups of 5's.

=8800
11972 total + 338526 = 350,498

We've already included them up until this point and some people's warmups are other people's workouts so it seems valid. We're testing weight moved basically 🙂

Have to agree with Socially Challenged regarding counting warm up sets...
If there's weight on the bar I count it. Technically all my sets except the last one are "warm up" sets, as they prepare my mind and body for the all out max single of the day.

Same here. I do ascending sets for most of my workouts and all the sets certainly "count" even if they aren't as heavy as the last set I do that day.

The weight that you use is not relevant. It's about 'your' training sets and overall volume. We can't comparing what a person can lift, just what a person did for training reps and sets.

Doesn't mean we can't exclude them imo.

Warm up sets do not contribute to ANY TRAINING AFFECT for increase strength or muscle size. They simply prepare the body for heavier sets.

When someone says 5x5 or 8x5 you wouldn't include the bar and 10kg's on each side as a 'training' set that counts towards the 5x5 would you? It would greatly diminish the training programmes worth and effectiveness if you counted 5x5 at 40-60% weights. It would either mean you did a lot less training then the stated 5x5.

Generally anything below 70% is too little to make any gains in strength or size unless your doing high reps in the 8-12rep range. Certainly it is pointless to count 40-60% unless your donig extreme and smash out 20reps+ with it.

Eric62, in that case you only did 1-3 training sets and your overall volume was low.

135x5, 225x5, 275x3, 315x3, 340xF = 3570. Tweaked my back on the first rep of 340 and had to call it a day.

135x5
155x5
175x5
185x5
205x5
225x5
225x5
205x10
185x13

10,980 + 366,430 = 377,410

Warmup: 1875
3x5x187 = 2805

1875 + 2805 = 4680

4680 + 377,410 = 382,090

Went extremely well. Felt like I could have done 20 pounds more with the same effort as the last time...

From July 4th USPF Powerlifting Nationals:
Warm ups; 135x5
225x2
315x2
405x1
Competition; 507x1 (second attempt). Horrible day - missed 507 (first attempt), and 578 (3rd attempt).

2667 + 415,005 = 417,672

135x10, 185x5, 225x5, 245x5, 265xF 🙁, 225x8, 185x20 🙂.

10125 + 430,187 = 440,312
