Take it from a guy who's been there (I spent a TON upgrading my first MTB, a 1991 Bridgestone MB-3) - these kinds of incremental upgrades will drain your pocket, add only minimal performance benefits, and add nothing much to the bike's value. Deore will shift nearly as well as anything out there, and you are better off saving your money for the next bike if you really get into mountain biking.
Formerly GripShift. It's a twist-grip shifter instead of a trigger-shifter for mountain bikes. I personally love them as your hands are always firmly on the grips, they're light, and have very few moving parts.Originally posted by: sygyzy
What is an SRAM set and what does it do?

SRAM shifter
Basically, you twist and take up cable. Twist the other way and release cable. Very simple.

I'm not crazy about them. I use an XT Rapid Fire + pod for my rear shifting, and a Suntour XC-Pro thumbshifter (circa 1991) for the front.

Sidi Genius 4's. Can't wait to try them on the bike. They feel like slippers compared to my Diadoras.
