Too bad all the streams I'm trying to watch at work are blocked. Good thing Polygon and the Verge aren't! I'll just read their live feed.

I don't think so. It's not like cell phone companies that get you into a contract so you can't switch carriers. Now from a financial standpoint it probably doesn't make sense over the long haul, but some people like to spread out the cost over time.
 
Oh god. That's the most confusing possible name they could've chosen.

A few years from now:

"Hey, do you have an Xbox One?"

"Like, the first Xbox?"

"No, Xbox One"
 
The controller doesn't seem to have any extra buttons.

Hmm it appears to finally have HDMI CEC based on what they said.

EDIT:

That means when I turn my 360 on, it will turn my AVR and TV on, which the PS3 already does. 😛
 
That is pretty quick. I was surprised at how fast the thing turned on too. I wonder if that's because it goes into a deep sleep state instead of actually turning off? That would probably allow it to listen for the Kinect stuff.
 
I'm gonna be one of "those guys" and say this right now: I can already tell the PS4 is gonna win this generation. Sony's PS4 announcement focused on nothing other than having high-quality games and software.

10 minutes into the Xbox stream, on the other hand, and all they're talking about is movies and watching TV. woooh boy.

Edit: And sports. Oh man. 4chan's /v/ is having a field day right now.

That's exactly what it does, that's also why they say you don't have to worry about updates, it does those by itself while you are not using it.

It can play TV, but it can't record it? That's... pretty lame. :\

I wonder if it's like the 360 where it requires certain service providers. The 360 already has a Comcast app.
 
I guess it depends on who you are. I love what they've shown thus far. I know there will be games and don't need them to show me that. Show me what differentiates your console from the competition.

**edit** To clarify, they do need to show games eventually today. But let's be honest, the games on PS4 and 360 are probably going to be more of the same quality. It's really about the unique features to me.
