I would lock in a quote now for whatever you have, and then if you sell it for more elsewhere, just cancel the trade in. You have until the 19th to ship to Amazon if you lock in a price today.

I locked in the price yesterday at the $246.50. I have to send it off Monday.

So how do you go about pre ordering? Order from apple and have them activate it? Or will carriers like att and verizon have them on their website? I will be switching from verizon to att.
 
Now that's confusing as hell, they are going to keep selling two different gens of iPod Touch with no version in the name - and two of them even have the same capacity.

Carriers will have them available for pre order the same day as Apple. Dont get directly from Apple if you have a company discount on your cell plan, for it will get removed.

I like the look of the new iPod Touch. And how they are positioning it as the replacement for your point & shoot (well, cheaper ones), your gameboy (as a catchall term), and any number of other things.

Wait wut, my FAN discount wont be there anymore if I just change my phone but stay within the same company if i buy from apple?

None of the iPod Touches ever had a version in their names. I guess you have to look at the screen sizes. I was mildly interested with the new Touch, but the $299 price point is a turn-off.

Btw, did they skip announcing the prices for the iPhone 5? I think I missed it. The real prices I mean, not the ones that require selling your soul to the carriers.

I just Google'd the release date of the iPad 3 and it was March 2012.

Guess they'll leave any possible iPad Mini (if it ever happens) for March 2013 then.

Was hoping they'd try and make it happen before the holidays...
