I actually just called a few different Apple stores to see which had it in stock then picked it up.
As I mentioned above, I have to go into an AT&T Store. All the AT&T Stores in the area have been sold out.

Has anyone else seen some odd anomalies in iOS 6 with the iPhone 5? I don't think I've ever had Springboard crash on me (even when I've been Jailbroken) while I owned an iOS device, but it crashed last week. Earlier today, I went to open my Multimedia folder to open the Music app, and the screen just went black. About two seconds later, it comes back like nothing happened. 😵 I checked the diagnostics data section, and there was no indication that anything crashed.
Most other crashes that I've experienced were either third-party apps (Facebook crashed on me yesterday) and running apps in the background (Jasmine the YouTube client) due to low memory issues. That's also another thing... why does iOS unload a program from memory that's actively outputting sound in the background? As a developer, that seems like a poor logic choice.
This is the glitchiest release since the original iPhone for me - keyboard graphical glitches, Genius tab in the App Store crashes 100% of the time, soemtimes when I turn the phone on, the brightness is super dim (despite having auto-brightness turned off), sometimes the screen blanks out and only shows the signal and battery, etc.
Here's a screenshot from the other day:

Had to manually power off my 4S on iOS6. Happens every so often. No issues before this.
Are you also not a fan of auto-brightness? My iPhone 5 was the first time that I tried it, and I really didn't care for it. The problem is that it's completely incapable of telling the difference between natural and artificial light. Even when I'm inside under some fluorescent lighting, I don't need the brightness turned up, but that's not the case outside. However, unless I was in a dim room, the brightness would never turn down. It was a waste of battery life, and my battery life is already bad enough at times. Although, it probably doesn't help that my phone only gets 1 bar of LTE where it's currently sitting, which is probably causing it to work harder to keep the connection. When I pick it up and turn it on, it usually goes to 2 or maybe 3 bars. (To note, the connection is plenty fast between 1-3 bar that it doesn't bother me.)
Still have not shipped. Once they show as shipped, how long should they take to get to Los Angeles? Are these coming on a slow boat from China?

Finally shipped today. They are apparently landed at DFW and are heading out of Fort Worth today.

So who bought the 1GB Mobile share? You think that is enough for a regular user?
It is being delivered to the nearby AT&T Store, so I may have to leave work early tomorrow. 😉
I went with 2GB originally, but I got data notice warnings from Verizon. However, I'm pretty sure that these had to have been related to the carrier settings fix that came out a few days after the iPhone 5 was released. The original bug caused the phone to still use cellular data even when you were on a WiFi network. I use around 10-20MB per day, but I magically used 3GB in less than two weeks? Yeah, that sounds pretty suspicious! 😛

I no likie my new iPhone 5.
First of all, it's too long.
A screen the same width as the 4s, only length is the difference. No big advantage.
Doesn't fit well in a pocket or fanny pack cell phone holder.
No improvement in speed at all. Not processing speed, nor cell network speed.
Too light weight. I feel like I'm going to drop it all the time.
Some apps freeze briefly on startup. Like when your pc freezes as a hard drive spins up to speed, that same brief hang or freezing is happening with my 5 on app startup.
The app starts up fine, but there is this lag, hang, freezing up briefly before the app becomes functionable.
In short, for me the iPhone 5 is proving to be no better than my 4s.
And actually worse.
Why did I upgrade? Hoping for better cell data performance and faster processing speed.
Nope. Didn't happen.

I got my iPhone 5 yesterday. This was the first time I have restored a new device from iCloud, and I have to say it worked great. I am on a corporate account so my assistant had to work with an AT&T rep to get my number ported to the new phone, but it worked seamlessly and it was pretty remarkable to have the new phone showing my existing wallpaper and ringing with my ringtone (for years I have used No Surprises by Radiohead, because it starts with glockenspiel that sounds like bells and I find it soothing).
As for the phone itself, I got a white 32GB model because I was concerned about dinging the black anodizing on the black phone. I immediately installed an SGP screen cover and a Stickerboy tiger stripe teak skin kit on both the front and back. It looks pretty snappy and both accessories fit perfectly.
Thus far I am very pleased (I am coming from a black 32GB iPhone 4). The light weight is nice, and the phone is in all respects much snappier than my old one. I write this from the Minneapolis airport (on my iPad 3, using Mobile Hotspot), where I am getting a blazing LTE connection, but even in 4G areas the connection seems noticeably better than on my iPhone 4. The only concern I have at this point (and its a fairly minor one) is that it does feel big to me in use. I have fairly large hands, and I imagine I'll get used to it, but ergonomically I think it may be a step backwards. I am also finding that both the Facebook app and Words With Friends crash upon opening. I imagine that will be sorted out through updates.
Anyway, so far so good. I have packed up my iPhone 4 and will be trading it in to Amazon.
