The miniscule scratch i saw wasnt from me, thats for sure. I barely used it and had the plastic on until i got a screen protector and case.

Has anyone had any luck walking to an AT&T Store to buy one since the first day? I did not ordered online since I need to do some serious account gymnastics and have to talk it out with a salesperson.

When should they be readily available in stores?

Verizon is currently showing a ship date of October 30th, if that helps at all. Most people I've talked to who recently ordered have about a month wait.

I am with AT&T and I need to buy as a walk-in, not online.

^^ buy a tent and camp out. It's the only way. Bring your copy of 50 shades of grey. It will keep you warm at night.

My assistant ordered me a phone through AT&T this week and was told it would be a 21-day wait. I guess that remains to be seen but that was the official word from AT&T.

^^ You might try this if you have an Apple Store nearby. You just place your order online like normal, but in the step BEFORE you put your CC info in, you can choose to pick it up instead of waiting for delivery. Of course, you might not be able to do your account gymnastics but you might be able to at least reserve one or two and deal with the gymnastics later.

Again, I HAVE TO GO TO AN AT&T STORE. I do not want to add any further layers to my situation. This is going to be complicated enough for the simpletons that work at AT&T.

If you have to go to an AT&T store, then don't bother until at least November. The iPhone 5 is going to continue to be selling out until at least then.:|

I bought my phone from apple for my brothers line swapped it to my main line since I didn't have an upgrade on my line. All I did was bring it to the AT&T store and it was free and took all of five minutes.

I did have to go to AT&T again since they forgot to enable LTE. My main line has unlimited data too which I still have.

Just out of curiosity, what are the account gymnastics?

Just out of curiosity, what are the account gymnastics?

My wife and I are currently on a family plan with 3 members of my sister-in-law's family. My mother-in-law is on an individual plan linked to that same account. The account is under my brother-in-law's name (I have full access and control).

I am getting 2 iPhone 5's (wife and I), moving my wife, my mother-in-law and I to a new account under my name and adding my daughter, all on a family plan. Our old iPhone 4's are being transferred to my mother-in-law and daughter (Trickle Down Economics works in the MotionMan family!).

It may sound simple enough when you read it, but it is not easy (or maybe even possible) to do online. Also, I do not want it screwed up by trying to do it piecemeal online/in store. It is not something they want to deal with at the Apple Store (I asked twice over the last week if they could do it).

if I want to sell my unopened iphone on Ebay, does the buyer or me have to contact Sprint to transfer the phone to his account?

Yeah, I think you'll actually have to do a transfer of liability from the existing a count to a new account under your name for that to happen. Definitely need to do it at the store, and they may even have to call the brother in law since its actually his account. Really depends on how the rep is feeling. If I were you, I would just do that now. Just get the ball rolling on that and get the lines switched over in your name. It won't affect the upgrade eligibility.

According to my local AT&T rep, their phones are selling like hotcakes. Seems the Apple Store gets plenty of VZW and Sprint devices, but not quite enough AT&T ones.

My fiancé picked up her iPhone 5 from an att store yesterday without preordering. However, it was the 64GB version. She was going to preorder the 32GB in store, but the guy said they have 64GB in stock. She decided on the 64GB because she will have it for 2 years and she could get it right away. Her iPhone 4 16GB was full and she wanted to put more music and apps on it. I think 64GB was a good move for her since she uses it for everything.

Store was in West County, St Louis.

I bought a new one on craigslist for sprint the day after they came out. I had a issue with the simcard being registered to the guys wife, i was close to him still and at the store, he came up and had to remove it off her account then transfer it to me. So not sure how much of a issue it would be on ebay or whatever.

They tried for about a hour to activate it before he came up, but the system would not allow it.

Just giving everyone a heads up you can actually get iPhone 5 at RadioShack too!

I picked up 3 on launch date (for Sprint) and 2 more (for AT&T) this past weekend - and all I did was just called my local Shack to see if they had stock, if they didn't I just put myself on their wait list because they get weekly shipments of the Apple crack...:p
