Actually, make that 9%

I had predicted a 10 point margin for Obama. Damn close, and an absolutely resounding defeat of Clinton.

You've got to hand it to Obama. I disagree with some of his politics, particularly the idea of national health care, but the guy's got a charisma and appeal that only Bill Clinton might be able to match. Hillary certainly can't touch him.

Just back from yahoo news and a few tidbits to report. (1) Democratic turnout was roughly twice what the Republicans mustered. (2) Its reported that Chris Dodd is expected to drop out of the race.

But by tomorrow I expect there will be some really solid dissections of the voting trends and a lot of spin also.

And on the republican side, I don't think New Hampshire is expected to be a carbon copy of Iowa. Just five more days until NH.

Press already showing bigotry with Obama???

Obama was giving a great speech, and the local news switched to "waiting" for Thompson HQ. WTF was that???? I wonder.... will the press start doing this every time Obama makes a win??? I'm not surprised...

So Paul polled at 10% which is exactly what the major polls said he would do. So much for all his 'hidden' support or all the talk about how 'fired up' his base is etc etc.

Now 10% is certainly better than the 5% he was getting a month ago, but it is no where near enough to really make him in the running.

So the question becomes: when does Paul drop out or will he drop out? Does he keep going if he does similar in NH etc or does he carry one till the end in order to get his message out?

The sad thing about Paul is that the part of his message that would really carry with Republicans, smaller government, gets lost in the side show that is his stance on the Fed and his foreign policy beliefs.

I think one thing Paul has shown is that a mainstream libertarian candidate could do really well in the Republican party.

I dunno, I never thought Id see what I just saw on Fox News. One of their conservative analysts said the Conservatives are in trouble. Paul isnt the one with grass roots, Obama is. 1 out of 300 Americans donated to Obama. Obama mobilized a HUGE amount of people.

In my city, all the precincts combined came out to 1st Huckabee, 2nd Romney, 3rd Paul, 4th McCain, 5th Thompson.

I'm a bit tired, I took half a day of work off to call voters then parked my car with signs propped up in a high traffic area and waved at people driving by for 1 1/2 hours till it got close to caucus time.

Here was the speech I wrote for the caucus, it got interrupted in the middle with applause and got the loudest applause of the night!
Anyway I feel great, things went better than I imagined here and gonna take a break here.

A local business leader chimed in a few extra words after my speech which helped a bit too with the vote.

My name is xxxx xxxx and I stand here in support of Ron Paul for President. I support Dr. Paul because he has the strongest record for limited constitutional government, low taxes, free markets, and a return to sound monetary policies. Dr. Paul never votes for legislation unless the proposed measure is expressly authorized by the Constitution.
Ron Paul graduated from Gettysburg College and the Duke University School of Medicine, before proudly serving as a flight surgeon in the U.S. Air Force during the 1960s. As an OBGYN, Dr. Paul has delivered more than 4,000 babies. Ron Paul has been married to his wife Carol for 50 years, with whom he has 5 children and 17 grandchildren.

His 20 year congressional record stands tall. Never voted for an unbalanced budget, never voted for a congressional payraise, never accepted a corporate donation, never voted to raise taxes, he refuses his own congressional pension. As a doctor, he never accepted payments from Medicare or Medicaid, but still treated everyone. Dr. Paul?s stance on abortion is clear: you cannot defend liberty if you cannot defend life. He fully believes that Roe vs Wade must be overturned.

Pat Buchanan stated that there is no one who has fought harder for liberty than Ron Paul, that he has the greatest record in the history of congress on cutting spending.

While other candidates talk about Ronald Reagan, Ron Paul was an early supporter of his Presidential candidacy in 1976. Ronald Reagan said of Dr. Paul that:
?Ron Paul is one of the outstanding leaders fighting for a stronger national defense. As a former Air Force officer, he knows well the needs of our armed forces, and he always puts them first. We need to keep him fighting for our country?

Ron Paul has more donations from active servicemen and women than any other Republican candidate. Our brave soldiers understand that our foreign policy is in shambles.
Even John McCain called him the most honest man in Congress.

If you are like me and dismayed at what?s going on around us from immigration, terrorism and deficit spending, Ron Paul offers us a new way with his lifetime of experience, conviction and integrity that we so desperately need. Please join us tonight in the Ron Paul Revolution. Thank you.

Special thanks to everyone who has assisted with this campaign thus far, financially or in person! I honestly felt as one person I could not have done more, and it feels great. Now to NH where the real games begin..

btw, I'm poor but if anyone wants to send me to NH to work I would be more than happy too :D

He certainly has the money to go on. I imagine he'll continue to spread his message. His numbers are low, but they've done nothing but go up. Not saying he'll win, but the more his message gets out, the better.

The fact that Paul didn't concentrate on Iowa much but still finished stronger than expect and within just a, relatively, small number of votes from being in 3rd place is impressive.

At least it is to me.

I really look forward to seeing what he does in NH.

Pabs is right, Biden has dropped out according to Yahoo News. Somewhat strange considering the Iowa caucuses favor only front runners and is a poor gage of the support of
minority candidates. I have yet to see final breakdown or hear any news about Republicans who may drop out.

Did anyone else notice the booty on Michelle Obama right before Barack gave his speech? She's the only "presidential spouse" that can pull off that tight dress :p

That being said, Congrats to Barack!!!! Keep 'em coming.

Oh yes it IS my boy.
One time everyone says some baseless crap like "well you need double digits to be top tier".
Well we planted in double digits with feet. Can't have it both ways, but I'd expect this sort of comment from you.

you do realize that Iowa is one of hte few places he didn't win straw polls. He did about what was expect voter wise. Just happens that a lot thought Thompson would do worse than he did.

If Paul does poorly in NH then you have something to talk about.

F**k giuliani, he is satan incarnate, glad to see him get trounced. People don't like losers. I think his future support will continue to sag like swillary's old boobs.

I wouldn't vote for Rudy for dogcatcher, but he didn't run a campaign in Iowa. The fact that he got any support at all is actually funny. I sure as hell wouldn't vote for someone who didn't come to my state.

Skoorb for President! With Mill as Veep! Gobies for Secretary of awesomeness.

Mill for Vice President? I didn't realize Fucktardia had a Vice President.

Huckabee is the Dems dream candidate. What do I spy with my little eye? Why, it's Huckabee moving up and up and ... look who's coming to dinner, why it's Michael Bloomberg!

Just my random thought of the moment. I can dream. Anyway, how did Kucinich do?

Well, Iowa has now come and gone... My current favorite, Obama, did what I knew he would; and it also looks like RP stuck to the respectable 10% we've expected all along.

NH may shake Billary to their core... and I hope it does!

OBAMA IN '08!

Huckabee doesn't have a chance at the nomination.

but, far-fetched as it may be, an Obama-Huckabee fight would be pretty interesting.
