looks like a 3-way washout for the dems after 30% reporting.

is it too early to ring the death bell for edwards?

I mean, 8 years campaigning in a single state, longer than any of his competitors, and he couldn't get a clear win (assuming the trends stay, that is... I have no idea who has/hasn't reported in terms of urban or rural districts)?

I thought the media had learned about calling winners so early in elections and such...apparently not.

Ahhhh Poooor Ron Paul supporters. 0% with 15% reporting...

Funny, 19% reporting and Paul has *Gasp* 10.56%

I guess that 15% wasn't so accurate?

That was the drudgereport numbers....

They've already called it for Huckabee...

The caucus is only an hour old. Hold on to your pants there skippy.

I take it you are going to be kicking and screaming at 11:59pm on Feb. 5 saying its not over its not over...

So far the polls are looking dead on... Better hope RP beats McCain or hes not going to be in the Debate on Saturday...

We will see.

Well, Paul had about 9% at our caucus. Romney had about 36%, McCain 18%, Thompson, Huckabee both around 14%

No one thought he would win Iowa. Most didnt put him beating Hillary. Its going to be a squeaker but I have a gut feeling its gonna be 1. Obama, 2. Edwards, 3. Hillary.

I'm surprised at Thompson.

I mean, he's doing bad, but not as bad as I'd have expected (though he's looking at a distant, distant third right now)

I'm hoping Obama will win, not necessarily a supporter but hearing what Chris Matthews was saying about how much of a statement it would be for the son of a Kenyan immigrant to win the primary in an all-white state would be impressive.

I'm sure this is just my hate for Edwards and absolute and total condemnation for anything and everything in any way associated with the 2004 CF of a campaign, but I mean, if he can't bang out a substantial victory in Iowa after 8-9 years of nonstop campaigning, what hope will he have in the states that Obama and Clinton have been campaigning in while he's been in Iowa?

They have gotten better at polling since 2000. In a caucus, its alot easier to call it early.

John Edwards is delusional. He stands no chance.

Interestingly enough, allegedly Richardsons camp is directing his caucus supporters towards Obama...

I am fairly sure anyone in Iowa will resent the implication that they are a bunch of hicks. Iowa may not exactly reflect the thinking of large urban States, but large urban States don't exactly reflect the nation either.

I'm saying that as someone looking forward, from say, 2000. I would've never thought in a million years a guy with that name could a) rise so quickly and b) win a primary.

Rural boxes post first. Once the urban boxes start reporting (where people have more than a 1st Grade education) it will take Paul down quite a bit.
