Birth control is next.
Most birth control works basically two ways.

1. prevent the sperm from reaching the egg, thus no conception, i.e. a barrier such as a condom.
2. sperm reaches the egg, conception occurs, but the pill and IUD prevent the fertilized egg from attaching to the uterus, which causes the fertilized egg to die which in their eyes is an abortion.
It's only a matter of time till these neanderthal republicans try to ban the pill and IUD. If they get any traction with banning mifepristone it is guaranteed they go after many forms of birth control.

I'm old enough that I remember that every condom machine in gas station restrooms clearly stated "for the prevention of disease ONLY". Of course, it was true, it prevented me from suffering from lead poisoning from her daddy's shotgun if I knocked his daughter up.
They tried that in the early 2010s with personhood bills in various states. They rename oral contraceptives as abortifacients and the laws effectively outlaw them. You are right they will try again.

BTW - Everyone with fertility issues thinking about using IVF to have a child, better do it now. That will also be next. Pubs will go back to that same judge and have him rule the procedure was ill conceived.

We need a new encrypted messaging app that allows people to discuss and coordinate abortions in the red states. I propose the app name "abort conservatives".

The new reporting underscores the risks of discussing abortion on unencrypted messaging platforms, especially for people with anti-abortion or abusive family members.

im sure it's less now. these people still don't bother getting their shots. that's nature's way of thinning the herds.

The mortality gap in general between red and blue areas is pretty stark.

Just one more nail in the coffin of GQP politics, and the more the merrier really.

Repugs are so screwed in 2024, I can't wait. Blue wave? Blue cataclysm. GenZ hates these people with the fury of a thousand suns. I don't think the last 3 beat downs will be anything like what these christofascist traitors have on the way.
As long as they show up at the polls.

Adding to what you said...
Looks like he removed himself from a paper he authored as he was trying to get approval from the senate.

Yeah I saw that yesterday. Grim stuff. The contempt repugs have for women is just incredible.

I won't even go to The Keys now, screw that state in it's entirety. I refuse to have a single dollar of mine go to that overcrowded shithole of state full of holy rollers and redneck fascists. Hopefully shit like this convinces conservative Floridian women to either fight or flee, but I doubt it. I gave up on Florida a long time ago.

Fun stuff
When I first watched "The Handmaid's Tale" in 2017, I wondered how the fuck this could happen.

6 years later, I wonder how the fuck are we going to stop it from happening.

Indeed, it’s scary but it’s a good chance that’s where we’re headed

Knowing the pro-birthers, there will be a fun twist.

The baby birthing machine needs to prove she was raped by showing a DNA test between the baby and the father. And the DNA test is only accepted if administered after the baby is born.

Don't give them any ideas man!

Prove. The victim has to have sex with the rapist again, but this time obtain a sperm sample and compare it to the same sample from the rape kit.
Basically, they're removing the ability to access an abortion even in the case of rape. the 6-week ban has no exemptions that I know of.

FL, TX, and the GOP want to put women "in their place" like it's the 1800's again.

It doesn't have to be that complicated. Just require the rape to by proven in court by a conviction of the rapist before allowing to seek an abortion as the woman isn't past 8 weeks. See an extra 2 bonus weeks are available (showing how much we care about rape victims) all that's needed is a conviction in court. Simple.

Is it sad that I can see this happening?

I'm sure I, and most others, hope to never have to use abortion services, but we absolutely see where it is needed. Especially in cases where the health of the mother, or the viability of the child is in question.

For the pro-birthers, it is black and white. There are no exceptions. This exception for rape is just lip service. They will find a way to restrict it so badly, that it is impossible to utilize this exception. It's not conjecture. It's already happening where a 15 year old victim of incest rape was denied an abortion in Florida and a 10 year old girl raped in Ohio was also denied abortion services. This is unbelievable, but it happened.

Lol Alito bumped the stay set to expire tonight until Friday now. Like why bother? Just block the restrictions until appeals court makes a decision over the next few months v
