Someone in that circuit should bring an identical case about viagra. Much more dangerous than mifepristone. Would be amusing to watch the calvinball play out where that medication would receive a completely opposite result in the 5th.

They don't care if they are inconsistent and look like total fucking clowns. They care about their policy outcome.

I guess I should not be surprised. Judges who know nothing about medicine, criticizing the FDA's decisions on medicine. Think about that for a moment. Someone who knows absolutely nothing about medicine, criticizing an agency whose job it is to regulate medicine.

Don't get me wrong, if there is real proof that an approved medicine had an overlooked or unknown harmful side effect that can be proved, then I don't have a problem with filing a lawsuit to stop that medicine from being sold.

That's not the case here. Everyone knows it. This medicine has been approved for two decades. There are no major harmful side effects. Any objection is purely on ideological, most likely religious, grounds.

The harmful side effect is that it hurts the delicate feelings of those that will shoot you if you get an abortion. With that said, fuck their delicate little feelings I don't have the time or inclination to worry about anyone's feelings when it comes to facts.

LOL has anyone told these judges how many more women in their 20s/30s are getting hysterectomies or other forms of sterilization over the past 12 months??? And predominantly white, educated women.

Conservative policy is all about bringing about that change you fear most by the most boneheaded moves possible.

Wait until the RWNJ fascist states make it so a woman can't be sterilized.

I can see Republicans mandating women get pregnant and give birth to at least one child. Polar opposite of China killing baby girls. Both heinous.

Republicans already during the first attempt at personhood, tried to ban forms of birth control. They will try again.

I came across some podcaster claiming that republican women don't get abortions that much, especially not as much as democrat women. I don't think so.... The thing is, we never hear of republican women getting abortions not that they actually get fewer abortions but they never go out and protest their abortion rights. Republican women just get their abortion(s) quietly and thats it. This illusion that republican women have fewer abortions is nonsense. Actually, I'd bet that more republican women have abortions than do democrat women simply because republican women have better access to an abortion. They can flee to another state where abortions are legal where as a poor democrat welfare women does not have that option financially. Also, you must add in the stigma. If a woman on welfare has another baby, who cares? But if a republican woman, and a wife, and a member of the country club gets knocked up with an unplanned pregnancy well that is a reason to get an abortion, for them.

So I would say that the most women getting abortions are in deed republicans, and they don't care about abortion bans because they feel privileged believing their abortion rights will be just fine and available and on demand despite the Ron DeSantis's out there. I have no doubts that your typical anti-abortion republican woman spends her day ranting against abortion, then in the evening attends some secret republican women's meeting on how to go about getting an abortion. Why? Because this is how they are. This is how any person who wants to get in your face forcing their beliefs down your throat acts, yet all the while making sure exceptions exist for themselves. It's called the hypocrisy, and republicans are masters at hypocrisy. MASTERS!!!

Yes, Republican women get more abortions than do Democrat women.
And yes, more republican men diddle little boys than do democrat men. But this we already knew....

It can already be a challenge to find a physician willing to perform the procedure, especially if you haven't already had kids and/or you're under 40.

Just a clarification.

The issue with China and the abnormally high baby girl abortion rate was more about Chinese culture than the Chinese government mandate itself. The policy itself is the "one child per family" policy.

The issue is that in Chinese culture, males are prioritized as they are seen as the only legitimate heirs to any family name. Therefore, if a family is only allowed one child, then it must be a male to continue the family name. So it was more a combination of Chinese culture, and a government mandate that resulted in higher baby girl abortion rates, but that wasn't the policy itself.

The one-child policy was always a badly thought out policy, and has fortunately ended in 2016.

Yup, there is absolutely zero consequences for their bullshit. They could literally say "I don't like this drug, therefore it's not allowed." And nothing would happen to them. FDA should just fucking ignore them.

I think that's already happened to Clarence Thomas at least.
