Most of the closures are in rural areas/red states so luckily it's just Republicans shooting themselves in the foot again. Sucks for the poor folk (whites too) who have worse health outcomes for their kids as a result.

I came across some podcaster claiming that republican women don't get abortions that much, especially not as much as democrat women. I don't think so.... The thing is, we never hear of republican women getting abortions not that they actually get fewer abortions but they never go out and protest their abortion rights. Republican women just get their abortion(s) quietly and thats it. This illusion that republican women have fewer abortions is nonsense. Actually, I'd bet that more republican women have abortions than do democrat women simply because republican women have better access to an abortion. They can flee to another state where abortions are legal where as a poor democrat welfare women does not have that option financially. Also, you must add in the stigma. If a woman on welfare has another baby, who cares? But if a republican woman, and a wife, and a member of the country club gets knocked up with an unplanned pregnancy well that is a reason to get an abortion, for them.

So I would say that the most women getting abortions are in deed republicans, and they don't care about abortion bans because they feel privileged believing their abortion rights will be just fine and available and on demand despite the Ron DeSantis's out there. I have no doubts that your typical anti-abortion republican woman spends her day ranting against abortion, then in the evening attends some secret republican women's meeting on how to go about getting an abortion. Why? Because this is how they are. This is how any person who wants to get in your face forcing their beliefs down your throat acts, yet all the while making sure exceptions exist for themselves. It's called the hypocrisy, and republicans are masters at hypocrisy. MASTERS!!!

Yes, Republican women get more abortions than do Democrat women.
And yes, more republican men diddle little boys than do democrat men. But this we already knew....

I would say that I hope the original assertion is accurate, as that would stand to support freedom of choice.

Abortions aren’t forced on anyone, it’s your choice NOT to get one

It's what rural communities across the nation overwhelmingly vote for. Maybe if they cared more about their own welfare than men in dresses they wouldn't have to drive hours to a hospital.

I agree! I ain't got no time to worry about the Scottish. We've got enough to worry about on this side of the pond.

Today, a win for iOwa's Pro-Choice.
Republican iOwa gov Kim Reynolds was delivered a blow when the state supreme court blocked Reynolds proposed "heartbeat law". The current law, a woman can get an abortion up to 20 weeks. Reynolds wants that changed to 6 weeks or to when a heart beat can be detected. She lost. However, Reynolds promised the fight is not over.
Reynolds is bat-shet crazy. She actually believes she is dictator of iOwa and damn be the citizens and the polls.

She just jammed thru her private school bill that gives thousands of dollars to parents to pay for their kid to enroll into private school. That thousands in tax payer dollars comes directly out of the public school funding. Personally, I predicted $7000 won't be nearly enough and next year Reynolds will be forced to come before her states republican super majority pleading to triple that $7000 to $21000 per student. Or even more. And that increase also will come out of the states public school funds and thus from the tax payers. Eventually, public school funding will be reduced to a trickle while Reynolds enjoys her under the table kickbacks from these private schools who pushed the bill. Most of these private schools are Christian based schools and can legally refuse and turn away any applicant not Christian, or subscribing to another religion, or.... any student that identifies as LGBTQ. And again, legally refused admittance. All funded by taxpayers.
But this is iOwa and just one of the many reasons you would never want to live there.

Man I thank God I wasn't born a woman every single day. Also that I got two healthy ones so my kid having days are over.

This quote is likely bullshit. Take a statewide poll what do you think is the will of the voters, not the gerrymandered districts?
The special session will convene next Tuesday “with the sole purpose of enacting legislation that addresses abortion and protects unborn lives,” according to a news release from Reynolds’ office.

Reynolds said the state Supreme Court’s order, which left abortion in Iowa legal up to 20 weeks into a pregnancy, “disregards the will of Iowa voters and lawmakers who will not rest until the unborn are protected by law.”

Yea, there are consequences for overturning 50 years of precedent. A party that promotes that shit is going down.

An apt quote from that article:

What the Republican base demands and what independent voters will accept are growing further apart.

As the party moves further to the right, that gap will grow only larger (hopefully).
