Florida is forcing a woman to have a baby so she can watch it die immediately after birth. The baby has some sort of health issue that will prevent it from being able to breathe after birth. Being forced to carry to term in this case is cruel and unusual punishment that should be protected by the US Constitutuion and should have absolutely nothing to do with states' rights to limit abortion, etc. This is cruel to the parents and to the unborn child. Once the baby is born and dies the state of Florida has basically committed murder. I sincerely hope people forced into this sort of BS start suing the living crap out of Governors and states imposing this. They should DIAF.
Just wow!

Republicans in South Carolina pressure Walgreens to stop selling abortion pills.
Walgreens Won’t Sell Abortion Pills In These States—Even Though Abortion Is Legal There (msn.com)

Was just about to post this--just another reminder that when it comes to serving public health outcomes vs. serving the shareholders, it ain't no contest for one of the nation's largest pharmacy chains. I guess consolidation and losing those independent pharmacists may not be working out so well either.

For all the red-blooded American straight males in these states--get ready to broaden your horizons or go full incel mode if you haven't already (LOL).

Worst timeline keeps getting worse.

South Carolina bill would impose the death penalty for women who get abortions claiming that abortion is murder. So for some women you get the choice of a living hell if you're forced to have a child or death for not having one. Personally I think that anyone in this country who thinks this is reasonable should have their breathing air removed.

When youre pro-life the death penalty is an obvious solution, amirite?

one of my colleagues (outside the US) asked how much a difference the president makes for the average person. i said directly? maybe not so much. after all, the president executes the law, but doesn't create any laws on their own. but indirectly through appointing judges? quite a lot. and i used abortion as the example - if you're a woman who is pregnant and don't want to continue your pregnancy, you now may not be able to receive care in certain states thanks to trump (and mcconnell. fuck that turtle).

The problem in Idaho is that doctors are leaving the state because Idaho has made it illegal for physicians to deliver accepted standards of care.

Else where the fucking greed of for-profit hospitals is closing down maternity services is many hospitals in smaller communities, leaving patients to drive 90+ miles through the mountains to deliver. Example Mission Hosp in NC, purchased by HCA in 2019.

Women/babies will die because of this.

I need to point out something EVERYBODY is conveniently leaving out:

She used meth while she was pregnant.

I'm not saying that makes her a murderer. I'm saying its a fact being conveniently ignored. If theres nothing wrong with using meth while pregnant, fine. Dont leave it out of the story.

it will only be used to justify the regressive policies being put in place, like a “serves her right” attitude.

edit: as I said

It’s easy to beat up on drug addicts. Where do you draw the line? Imagine she ran a stop sign (not drunk) and caused an accident and had a miscarriage? 4 years in prison for that?

I suppose. I dont know. I have no intention of beating up on drug addicts. I just want all the facts presented in the news, or when somebody is making an argument.
And yes, even in Memes. Cuz I'm a modern kind of asshole.

AFAICT, they were.

I linked the article to you:

Prosecutors argued that the miscarriage Poolaw suffered was from her use of methamphetamine. An autopsy of the fetus showed it had tested positive for methamphetamine, the Associated Press reported, but there was no evidence her use of the substance is what caused the miscarriage. The autopsy showed the miscarriage could have been caused by a congenital abnormality and placental abruption, when the placenta detaches from the womb, the AP said.

There's no "smoking gun" here saying Meth was the cause. The prosecutor will of course ignore this and make the claim anyways. So at this time, the introduction of meth as the cause is simply a distraction from what is going on and really immaterial except to attack the mother thru a very common and accepted practice, attack drugs.

It's just as likely is was a regular old miscarriage. So, where does it end? Where's the line? A woman trips and falls, has a miscarriage, and can now be sent to jail? An older woman knows her risk is much greater, decides to conceive anyways, has a miscarriage, goes to jail? Domestic dispute creates anxiety to the point where a miscarriage occurs, woman goes to jail?

Oh, in South Carolina they're seeking to instate the death penalty for abortions...how long until the notion spreads to miscarriages?

with risk of miscarriage & spontaneous abortion running from 15-85% your risk of being tried and put to death is to high to risk getting pregnant in these states.
That'll be fun. Overworked stress induced miscarriage? Murder. Tazed by police, resulting in miscarriage? Murder. May as well just lock the pregnant ones up now until the child is born.

Guess now you can see why the GOP wants to marry 14 year olds, think of the children!

May sound hyperbolic but I can see a black woman pulled over by police and unjustifiably harassed. She is 6 weeks pregnant but doesn't know it. Arrest stress causes miscarriage and then is prosecuted for murder by a Republican DA.
