Taco Bell also has a subscription service now, through their app. $10 a month for a free taco every day! Of course I signed up for it!

Anyone here eat at Lefty's? I went there a few weeks ago and got the Southpaw Wedges. I'm on a never-ending quest to find something that's legit spicy from a fast food spot. I went in with high hopes, but low expectations. They come with Carolina Reaper cheese, which made me think maybe this could be that one item that delivers, at least on some level.

Now I've never had Lefty's before so I had no idea what to expect, but even for my uber low expectations I was really let down. The Flamin Hot Cheetos on top were the only thing spicy that I detected. I know the guy making mine was a trainee as I heard him tell the manager "Please help, this is my 1st time making these" So I'm thinking *maybe* he accidentally put the wrong cheese on them. I wasn't expecting food challenge level heat, but I thought there would be some sort of punch to them. It goes Reaper > Ghost Pepper > the rest. And I've had Pepper Jack that was more spicy than this, and I don't find Pepper Jack spicy. I also had hope because while Ghost Pepper's are a trendy thing to put on your menu because most people know it as OHH HOT! Carolina Reaper's aren't really known so I thought I could be surprised here. I seriously doubt anyone here has had the actual southpaw wedges, but I noticed a few other things on the menu with the Reaper cheese.

You know what, maybe I should give up finding something spicy at a damn fast food place. But a part of me's still hoping the n00b who made mine just got the cheese wrong lol.
The ghost pepper nuggets at BK are spicier than any other fast food I've seen so far. Still not crazy spicy but at least they are getting there.

I looked up the nutritional info on the Ch'King sandwich from BK.com and it says 4,500mg+ of sodium for all of them. I know fast food's packed with salt. But how the hell is that even possible? I Googled the sandwich, and everywhere else I'm seeing write up's on them the sodiums listed at 710mg. So I'm assuming the 4.5k on BK's site has to be wrong, but it's weird they have it 4.5+ for all 4 versions of the sandwich, so it can't just be a single typo. 710 seems a little low also, but much more reasonable than what's on BK's site.

Does anyone know anything here?

One week only? My condolences to the Taco Bell staff.

I've worked in fast food before & special items were always such a pain: new equipment, new ingredients, new training procedures, spread out across the entire staff, and not all chains offer the specials, and everyone wants the new specials, and there's typically ZERO preparation on the company's behalf, so you get a random shipment of new stuff & having to find a place to store everything, find time during production hours to train everyone, and start banging it out perfect lol.

And then, the following week, customers that are angry that the wings are gone.

They're just doing the chicken-centric places a favor. People got the craving and now must find the chicken elsewhere.

That tiny foil package of "soup" in with cheap ramen noodles tends to have about 1350 mg's of sodium so yes its possible to pack a crap-ton of salt into a relatively small amount of food, but 4500 mg's ?!?

So that would be approx 1 tablespoon of fine-ground salt PER SANDWICH?

I would think that salt would be the only thing you would taste!

That does seem peculiar. On their entire menu, the next nearest sodium number is 2840mg for a 20 piece spicy nugget, followed by the Ultimate Breakfast Platter at 2230mg. I did see a few other sites putting it between 700-950mg, which seems more realistic.

Yeah it seems it's gotta be incorrect to me, but you brought up the breakfast platter having 2230mg, that's a puzzlingly large amount of sodium for a breakfast that's 1/3rd pancakes. So maybe the Ca'King does have 4.3 grams of salt, and that's the reason so many people are saying it's the best fast food chicken sandwich? After eating them around 5 times I'm still in disbelief that nasty ass Burger King was able to make such a delicious chicken sandwich, it just makes no sense to me.

BTW, when I was in NYC for Xmas I stopped in to Sticky Fingers. They had a spicy chicken tender promotion going and the cashier warned me about how spicy it was. I, of course, ignored the warning. After the first one I can say it was on par with Three Mile Island spiciness at Hooters, maybe even a little more spicy than that. And naturally I had wished they sold milk, but forget that and my mouth burned for like a half hour afterwards. Still, good stuff.

Heads up for those who like spicy but don't follow fast food. While I'm sure this is fake news, like Trumpers would say. Arby's has 2 new "spicy" Diablo sandwiches, a chicken and brisket one. It comes on a Diablo bun, which is some sort of red colored multi hot pepper infused bun. diablo BBQ sauce, Ghost Pepper cheese, fiery seasoning, and diced roasted jalapenos. From what I read on a blog, the diablo's Ghost Peppers, Habenaros and a few other really hot peppers in the dough for the bun and BBQ sauce. They're proclaiming all other spicy fast food items are a joke. But they nailed the spicy here, the gimick besides that is "OMG it's so spicy you need a shake to cool down the heat" so either sammich includes a free small vanilla shake. They even refer to trying it as the diablo dare (ooooohhhh!)

I haven't tried either and honestly I have my doubts, and by that I mean Arbys is 100% full of shit here. But, because I never learn my lesson about being disappointed by new "spicy" fast food offerings. I'll undoubtedly try both, and undoubtedly be disappointed x2. They talk about how half the shit in it has Ghost Peppers, yet I somehow imagine it still barely ranking a 2 out of 10 on the heat scale.

I don't eat Arby's much, but at least to me, pretty new to the menu they added crinkle cut fries. Which are really damn good. This is the actual blurb from their web site

Smoked brisket with ghost pepper jack cheese, fiery seasoning, fire-roasted jalapenos, pickles, lettuce, mayonnaise, and a Diablo BBQ sauce on a toasted red chipotle bun. Served with a free snack size Vanilla shake to help cool you down. Trust us, you’ll need it.

I smell fecal matter, and large amounts of it. But maybe this will be the sandwich to finally make me eat my words.

Not sure where I'd find an Arbys, but I'd for sure try it. If I can find fast food where I think "Yea, that's kinda hot", I'd call that a huge success. "kinda hot" is defined as a noticeable burn you don't have to search for to find.

Severe supply chain shortage, the closest Arby's to me that even had these was about 25 miles away. And that location was almost completely sold out already. Not driving to get a samdwich that's going to be meh probably. Arby's by me has no idea when/if they'll even get the shit to make them. I understand with Covid lots of things are difficult. But Arby's still failed even by those standards. I was bored so I called 10 Arby's and got 10 nopes. Only reason I learned about the one that actually had some was because of a guy who worked at the one I went to that's up the street from me. I get things like red chioptle buns aren't normal items, but I dunno, you plan ahead for shit so you don't have these kind of problems. Running out of a limited offer happens, but looks like a lot of the Arby's never even got anything.

Way to successfully launch a product Arby's, and since it's an LTO that means I might never even get to try it. I had low hopes it would be "yea, that's kinda hot" but a 2.5 out of 10 would beat the 1.5 max of everywhere else. Since I'm assuming this sandwich and it's launch had been in the works for awhile, I imagine I might never even get to try one.

I am disappointed, as I sit here eating these extreme ghost pepper chips from Gold Emblem I found at CVS yesterday. The bag says "covered in legendary hot & spicy ghost pepper seasoning" UHHH no.

Had Popeyes new spicy flounder fish sandwich. Was pretty big, the fish itself wasn't spicy, they added a spicy mayo something or other to it. There was just a small amount of heat, was pretty tasty overall. The fish smelled very fishy to me. I'm not a fan of really fishy fish, but the sandwich had a pretty mild fish taste. Also has 2 pickles. For $4.49 it's a pretty good deal. Wish it had cheese on it, but oh well.

I'd bet it's the same spicy mayo they put on the spicy chicken.

Flounder tends to smell a little "fishy" but is mildly flavored.... I used to fish for them with my Grandpa many years ago.

:)

Every time I drive past my local Popeyes the lines are freaking insane and that's been the case since mid-pandemic.

Total bummer.... been wanting to try that new fish sandwich myself. (but not badly enough to sit in line for 1/2 hour at the drive-through!)

My nearby Popeye's isn't too busy at the times I'm normally there, fortunately :D
The one in the city where I lived last year was like that though, always a line.

I hate when they put the "spicy" part of a sandwich/burger in the mayo, as I love spicey but hate mayo with a passion. I can taste sulfur in it from the raw egg yolk.

I hate mayo too. That's part of why the Spicy Ch'King from BK gets the win from me, their spicy sauce isn't mayo-based. The last time I got a Popeye's chicken sandwich, I brought a bottle of BWW Medium sauce with me to put on it :D

Wait what? BK using a sauce that's not Mayo based? BK puts half a lb of it on everything. The sauce is definitely creamy like Mayo, but if it's not mayo based like you said, I'm scared because I taste mayo in it. And it has the consistency of a Mayo based sauce. I just Googled and read 5 reviews they all mentioned the sauce as Mayo based.

I think maybe you don't hate Mayo as much as you think. NOTE: I'm not a huge fan of it myself, but I do like Aioli's where stuff is added to make it taste like something other than Mayo.
