I spent about 3 hours yesterday essentially removing all my mods and updating. I was getting a real bad grainy shadow when I updated a couple the other night, so I basically said to hell with it and removed and re-added everything. I worked from the Realistic Lighting Project on Nexus as I had been using about 70% of the ones that the author of that was using/recommending. So I used that as a guide and added in the few extra ones that I had previously been using (some crafting overhaul mods, a few new spells/effects, etc).

I want to get back to playing this again as I got side-tracked with other games. My new setup was looking pretty good for the whole 10 minutes that I saw of it before I called it a night.

Anyone try Falskaar yet? It's an unofficial DLC that was worked on for about a year. Has some pretty impressive specs.

Adds an entirely new landmass, 26 new quests consisting of 9 main quests and 17 sidequests, new items, two new spells, a new shout, a full soundtrack, and a voiced cast.

Wyrmstooth is really good too, and provides a similar (but not as vast) experience. I got that one in the Steam workshop but it's probably on the Nexus too.

I was trying to get it downloaded this weekend, but the DDOS on the Nexus made it difficult for me to get the Hearthfire CTD issues fixed.

I saw that one too. I may have to check it out. Thanks!

I'm guessing the ressurection of this beast can only mean that many an AT forum goer has lept on the Legendary edition of Skyrim. Like me, ;-)

I downloaded Falsaakr, but have yet to get to it. I hear good things though. Supposedly it's nearly professional in quality.

Has anybody tried Moonpath to Elswyr?

I installed duel - combat realism. I'm a whore for melee combat, and for making things less face-roll. But I fear it might make the game too tough. Has anyone else given it a try?

Well, in my attempts to fix the Crashing with Hearthfire and Breezehome whilst keeping Hearthfire active, I have corrupted my install to the point where it crashes on start. After a few hours of trouble shooting with BOSS, TESVEdit, disabling/enabling mods, etc, I found I'd several mods Subscribed in the Steam Workshop. I suspect some of these were interfering with my efforts and/or causing the crashing. I've unsubbed to all Workshop mods and will work through the Nexus exclusively moving forward.

Backup my saves, backup my mod list, nuke the install, redownload. Time consuming.

Moonpath to Elswyr is excellent as is Falsaakr - however Falsaakr (for me) seems a little buggy on the dialogue menus when speaking to a npc.

Anyone has any idea whether Skyrim will go on sale again anytime soon? I've been reading on it for past two days and decided it's a game I definitely have to try.

Did you miss the Thanksgiving sale?

I dont know if they plan to reduce it again any time soon. I think you just need to keep checking the daily and weekly deals.

No idea what thanksgiving is, but considering I only started to look into it two days ago, I probably did :D
I'd like to get the legendary edition, but I am pretty short on money, so a sale would help a ton.

Thanksgiving: U.S. Holiday during the fourth Thursday in November

Steam has a Fall Sale around that time, but they also had the game on-sale during their Holiday Sale in late-December. Odds are, the next sale won't be until the spring.

Bah. Well, chances are my wife will buy it for me because she noticed you can play a cat there, so it's not lost cause yet :D

Right now I am digging in the flood of mods and my jaw is laying on the floor. Just wow.

Anyone using the Real Vision ENB mods? I downloaded all the mods in sections 1-3 and most of the mods from section 4. After fighting with CTDs, I finally got it to be mostly stable (still crashes every couple hours).

The game looks pretty good but I'm a little disappointed in the performance. At 2560x1600 and using a single 290@1240/1450, I still dip into the 30's a lot outdoors. Dungeons and other interior locations run smoothly but outdoors it gets a bit laggy. I figured a single oced 290 would be enough for Skyrim but apparently not.

I also haven't been able to get Crossfire to work correctly. The recommended solution is to rename TESV.exe to Oblivion.exe but then I can't get Mod Organizer to recognize the executable. Uggh.

Other than than it's been a lot of fun to get back into Skyrim again after a 2-yr hiatus. I love the huge open worlds and variety of creatures.

Damn, started a caster earlier this week. First time I playe da caster in this series.
WOW is the first thing that came to mind when I tried it. How awesome is it to dual cast Flames and burn stuff in seconds!

Dunno how it'll turn out later on but for now it's so amazing and fun to play, a nice change of pace compared to pure melee.

I have some questions though for the casters out there:

1- If I equip a staff, does the staff shoot the spell it is enchanted with or is it just a wooden stick to bash heads?
2- Anyone tried Shield+Spell? Sounds fun in my mind especially with the shield skill Elemental Protection
3- I'm also tempted going with a Full Plate Mage and dual cast my way to awesomeness :p

I'm rediscovering this game and it's pretty cool!

The staff shoots spells from the echantment pool that is on it, and need to be refilled with soul gems, after that you beat them with it as a stick

Never Tried

Battlemage, just enchant everything with magic/magic regen

may have to try that too, always played melee/damage persons. never could get into mage always to squishy :)

Well, the fact that enemies can't get to you fast enough before they die make me not worry about my squishiness at all.

It's just pure fun.

I watched a video by Golpher and tried out the Phinix ENB. Looks great, much like Vanilla, but with better lighting. Anyway, performance with any ENB @ 1440p is poop... you can disable the SSAO, but without it there is no point of an ENB imo. With my GTX 780 cranked up my FPS was pretty much in the 30-40's the entire time outside. IMO playing Skyrim without a solid 55-60FPS is not an enjoyable experience. Right now I am using SweetFX and COT and I think it looks fine. Pretty much vanilla outside lighting, but the performance is back up to 55-60 FPS. You can use the Imaginator mod to adjust the lightning to make it brighter if you want.

I haven't had this game working for over a year; too many updates breaking mod compatibility and it's a pain to reinstall everything every time it gets updated. But Skywind has me intrigued; might be time to do a full reinstall and reacquaint myself with Skyrim modding.
