I'm still working on my Heavy Armor to get the combo that allows it to not slow you down and it weights nothing.

~ player.setav carryweight 200000000

or, just ignore that perk. such a waste. carry weight can be easily managed if you don't pick up every god damn thing (as I learned on 2nd playthrough :D)

No, bad zin. Do not temp me!

Surely you don't believe running around, jumping , climbing , fighting is at all possible with 300lbs in your backpack. It's just a figure some people thought it might balance the gameplay, who's to say 1000lbs is inadmissible.

How can I make 8 pounds of leather from a hide that weighs 3 pounds? How can I craft a 31 pound warhammer from 5.6 pounds of materials? Why does a circlet that offers no protection weigh twice as much as an elven helmet? Why am I such a shitty jeweler that I can only get half a pound of jewelry from a one pound ingot? There's a lot of weight stuff that doesn't make a whole lot of sense in the game.

heh, that's how I rationalize it!

I don't do it so much anymore because, well, I do like that it is re-wiring my hoarding tendencies--tends to be the main reason that I quit games.

I got 50 or more hours into Fallout, NV, and as much as I love that game, probably more than Skyrim, the storage and shuffling of gear and items was just too damn cumbersome and taking up way more time than actual play. And I suppose that's one of those games that I really like to keep as much of the immersion as possible, being that the world is "believable enough"

yeah, those ratios bug me quite a bit. Not sure if there are mods for that, but potion mods exist that shrink the weight down to 0.1 each--though, I can see a potion, in a glass bottle, easily weighing 0.5 lbs.

To be fair, though, I don't think these things are meant to be so much realistic, as they are general balances in mechanics--all part of the consideration you need to make when going heavy armor/two handed weapons vs light/one-handed--damage vs weight, etc.

still, the 3 lb bear hide = 16 lbs of leather is ridiculous.

Zinfamous is on the money. The most annoying part of the Dragon fights for me is before the dragon starts to land. As soon as he lands it's shield bash, slash, slash, slash. Once you get the hang of it the dragon's are a cakewalk.
By shield bash do you mean holding the block and hitting attack button?

By the way, isn't there a mod that let's you turn into a dragon and fly? Or maybe I'm just remembering crap the wrong way? o_O

yes

there is, but iirc, you aren't able to fly yet. you can currently run around on the ground and breath fire and shit. also, no one seems to care that you are now a dragon.

I forget the mod, but I believe it is also available in the workshop.

That slow-mo shield perk keeping bugging out on me all the time now :( The first few times it was fun to run around with everyone else super slow... But it's really annoying now, plus it kills the challenge... Anyone has any idea how to help with that?

Basically, when I block and the enemy does a power attack, there should be a ~1s slowing down of time so I can dodge the power attack - but it lasts for 20-30s at a time instead of the 1s.

yep! I posted about it many pages ago. Even when it does work, it is kind of useless. Or, at least, not so advantageous that it is worth a perk.

I have had to F9 out of those freezes several times.

Long ago, however, I removed that perk using console commands. Look up the code for the perk, then simply remove it. Then, treat yourself to a new perk--be careful though if you want to add or subtract leveled perks (those that are x/5)--you need to make sure they are added in proper order or things might bug out.

Honestly, you can't control when the slow down initiates if you are a shield warrior, so the only solution is to remove the perk and replace it.

And for me--it wouldn't simply bug for 30 seconds, it could last for 10s of minutes. It was kind of odd, bugging the slow mo, then tearing through the dungeon and hacking at everything that moved and never being able to sustain any damage. ...A bit "OP," wouldn't you think? :p

I guess I'll have to do that then. But when it works as expected, it's really fun :(

Finally got rid of Lydia and picked up J'zargo. My character is a battle mage thief and I find the game more enjoyable with him zapping the hell out of mobs. :)

I had Lydia decked out in high quality heavy armor and a nice 2h weapon and found she would just lose way too easily.

^ Never understood what was the fuss with Lydia anyway, every single player out there feels compelled to have her as companion, she's pretty much a worthless NPC here. Hell I much prefer Barbas to her.

not sure what level you are, but trust me--it ends up being quite unnecessary. You only have to spec a few points into heavy armor (~3/5) then the nice bonus armor perks, and for shields (1/5 or 2/5--huge diminishing returns after the first one), then the spell resist and bashing bonuses, and you are, essentially, invulnerable.

Most of the real armor will come from maxing: smithing, alchemy, also enchanting, of course. max alchemy at 5/5 and all the beneficial increases (1st 3 perks, I think), same with enchanting (ALL the perks) and max smithing + armor classes that you want.

Once you get full, max enchanted gear of alchemy/smithing, some max potions of enchanting (also smithing potions that put about 145% increased smithing at that point), you are good to go.

..also,
Boethiah's Ebony Mail
becomes available at level 30. Get that. ;)

you serious? Barbas freaking pushes me around all the time. He's invulnerable and all, but whenever I am stopped, that little fuck starts shoving me into corners and off of cliffs!

no wonder Clavicus Vile wanted to murder that bastard.

I like Lydia and her obnoxious attitude. She's pretty dumb, sure, but you get her a nice suit of armor and a serious great sword, she will go to town...assuming she doesn't run off a cliff to her death. :\

Try Jordis for a change, she's the "upgraded" version of Lydia. And yeah, I'm well aware of Barbas being a butt(sorry a mutt), that's how much I dislike Lydia tho.

Do I need it? No. It's just, you know, fun ;) Stuff slows down for a second and I get to do a fancy looking dodge. I'm lvl32 and running in full Dragonplate mail with Shield of Ysgramor (and mace of Molag Bal), almost maxed out armor rating. I don't like Alchemy at all, no idea how high I will train enchanting - depends if I meet something that will insta-gib me (don't think that can happen anymore). So probably it will top at ~60-70.

I won't be grabbing the daedric ebony mail - I took it on two of my previous characters, want something else tbh. The dragonplate chest with a stamina enchant works great actually. I don't really feel I need to change it.

I actually tried Jordis for a little while on my first character, just for a change. She felt too...vanilla for me. No soul. :\

On my mage, I the first several times I walk into Proudspire, after purchasing and improving it, Jordis is chomping on some bread, and yells at me: "You're not supposed to be here!" Two or Three times!

Next time she does that, I will have her head.

I've started a few other characters just to play around with the character creation, but I've only really played the game on my first character, which is a sneak/archery/restoration build. As such, I've never had a need for companions, aside from sacrifice fodder for the various daedric gods. With all the trouble they've caused everyone else, it sounds like I've been better off...

She still does that to me, pretty much every time I walk in the house. I don't think she can see very well.

Currently level 7 on my "naked" barbarian. Only wearing boots and bracers and using 2H swords exclusively adds some difficulty to the game. Mind you i'm only playing on Normal but damn some encounters are nasty. I'm generally under 25% health when combat is over.

Think i'll boost my Archery a bit, could be great for some encounters. Archery and Sneak might be good.

I've only leveled 2H weapon skill and Blacksmithing for now. I'm at +60% dmg, +10% crit and -25% stam power attacks. Doing lots of damage quickly, especially when I scor a crit.

Downed 2 Dragons for now and damn they're hard when you only have your chest hair to protect you lol.

It's really fun though, nice build to play with. It's quite different from a heavily armored character and it's a little more involving gameplay wise.

The followers are basically pack mules much of the time for me. However on the hardest level (master) of play they are good to have early on. Especially Lydia and that Giant's Bone 2H. That combo is just plain good to have in a multi enemy fight on Master level.

She was the 2nd companion I encountered - the 1st was the bard. When I did a little more research - I decided to dump her in favor of a sith lord. :)
