I'm pretty sure that NPC followers can only be killed by you (or maybe from falling damage.) I've watched Lydia take a knee while fighting a dragon, and then have the dragon breath on us both for enough damage to make me chug potions like a frat boy at a kegger, and she still got up a second later and attacked again.

OMG I killed Lydia.

Finished Civil War tonight. Ulfric deserved to lose. Sat on his throne the whole time the battle was going on. And who'd they get to voice General Tullius? Sounds like Toby from The Office.

this.

lol, Toby form the office.

The voice/attitude of Col Tigh is pretty damn unmistakable--assuming you have seen a few episodes, of course.

The more I play this game - the more it continues to surprise/impress me

Helping out Paratus Decimus in Revealing the Unseen quest reminds me of the puzzles in Myst.

I may have to use the "carry weight" console commands just to free myself from the somewhat arbitrary restrictions placed on it. My first character was a skinny little elf mage; my second character is a roided-out Orc. Yet the difference between how much each can carry is a bit silly, even after dumping the majority of my points into stamina. It was made doubly annoying today when I loaded up with 800 pounds of smithing supplies, slowly lumbered over to the forge in Whiterun, made a shitload of armor and weapons, upgraded all of it, along with some stuff I'd picked up in my travels, lumbered back towards Breezehome to prepare to enchant it all... and the game crashed. Fuck that nonsense, 20 minutes of random crafting ruined for no damn reason? Yeah, I'm done with the arbitrary restrictions on how much shit I can haul.

I just played a couple of hours with my speakers off, as if I had been rendered temporarily deaf. No sound to warn you means major surprises and adrenaline rush. Plus you sure keep your eyes open for any visual clue and proceed carefully, even in the open country.

:D

welcome to the proper side.

One of the reasons I don't like such restrictions, is that early in these games when you really need money quite steadily, you simply have to loot loot loot and sell whatever you can find. The difference between carry weight restrictions and none, for me, is simply time.

Either I take one trip and 2 minutes to travel from dungeon to Whiterun to sell all of my junk and stash gear, or back and forth several times over 20 minutes to do the same thing.

I upped the carryweight too. It doesn't break the immersion for me and makes it so much more enjoyable and time efficient.

Even in the early going I never found myself short of funds. I used followers as pack mules, or kept only the most valuable subset of what I found. Anyway, at level 48 with the game almost "complete" I have 150k gold, own four fully-kitted houses, and I have no idea what I would spend the rest of it on. It's really kind of ridiculous. The one thing this game does unambiguously well is the sprawling, beautiful world with its weather, lighting, ambient sounds, etc. Everything else is either non-existent (NPCs that know anything at all about the world... like what time it is), or ladelled over you in huge, heaping portions until it's completely meaningless (gold, loot, combat capability).

Why doesn't the carryweight stay saved? I don't want to enter the command every time I load a game. Also, it turns out it is WAY more confusing for me to be carrying around dozens of weapons and armors, some of which I want to sell, others which I want to keep. I get paranoid I'm accidentally going to sell off some shit I'm trying to keep.... it's no good. Even with an upped carryweight, I leave armor and weapons at my house for simplicity's sake. It is nice to not need to ditch the thousand pounds of crafting equipment though.

It is annoying, but, "~, [up arrow], Enter, ~" takes about 1 second. :\

^ What are you guys using? I only use the below command once

player.modav carryweight xxxxx

and it will stay forever, rinse and repeat if the backpack is full and you don't feel like going back yet.

Edit: I saw player.setav earlier in the thread, pretty sure I used player.modav instead. Give it a try and see if it loads modified or not.

Does anyone have any suggestions for increased difficulty mods? Needs to be much much harder. I think I broke game with smithing/enchanting. Basically my lvl 60 Breton has 85% magic resits wearing nothing, 25% natural, 15% agent of mara, 25% Lord Stone, and 20% with 2/3 magic resists in Alteration tree. He does 751 dmg per sword and has two (dual wield) - combined with Elemental fury takes out Ancient Dragons in 2 seconds when they land. He has 650 armor with no shield which is over max of 567. Nothing is challenging nor has it been since about lvl 36 after maxing smith/alchemy/enchanting. It's ridiculous every rare Daedric artifact you can find is a joke compared to what you can make. Makes dungeon diving a complete bore if you can't find anything better than you can make.

to make it more difficult for me, I gave ebony blade and light armor to my heavy armor shield/sword warrior. Granted, that isn't a perfect solution, being that Ebony blade uses one-hand stats....and that despite it's apparent lack of damage, it makes you more or less invulnerable with the constant life steal.
:p

I have seen mods that make Dragons stronger, but not much else. I haven't searched thoroughly, though.

Anyone know a good way to level up heavy armor?

Wear a full suit of heavy armor (preferably with at least one piece having a fortify healing rate enchant), then find a rat and walk away for a few hours.
