Well, at least some things will get fixed. Skyrim 1.2 patch gets released tomorrow (for Steam users, it'll be pushed in the afternoon).

Yes this is some good news. Hard to say how many CTD issues it will fix if any. Why don't they just release their own 4gb LAA patch?

Not all of them I'd guess, but it does have one of the big ones with the 44.1KHz sampling crash. I did have mine at 96 when I started playing and switched it down but still get occasional CTDs.

I think the short answer, if I understand your question correctly, is "no." There are several of them around Riften (and elsewhere), and besides the quest where you HAVE to steal one, I think their presence is just coincidence. You'll see as you progress that they quickly become unrelated to the plot.

Well I found another one, on the next mission. It really makes me think that there is one in every mission, since I'm 3 for 4 and the guy who I bring them to is in the guild.

Wow AMD has really fucked up this driver release. Triple A title like Skyrim that people have been waiting for for years and they still don't have drivers out that fix critical bugs almost 3 weeks after launch. Cross fire that has negative scaling, and no CAP release. They are working on it but each hot fix we see barely seems to fix anything. I understand their effort with BF3 has lots of issues as well.

I played for......jeez 4 hours tonight with zero crashes on Bf3, just switched to 11.11 and no caps since I am on a single 6970 right now

Make sure you are launching the game with the .exe file provided in the 4gb mod. I found myself just opening the game out of steam from reflex and caught myself after getting crashes doing it that way. I pinned that exe to the taskbar in windows so I remember to use it.
Thanks for the heads up, but I actually have both the Steam exe and the 4GB exe next to each other on my desktop for testing purposes. It really doesn't help me at all. I've had plenty of crashes that didn't seem to warrant a 2GB memory cap being the cause (only loaded Breezehome, then walk out and fast travel and crash). The 2GB memory issue doesn't seem to actually be the problem IMHO...but what do I know. :\

I rarely crash when I'm running around not using fast travel (thoroughly exploring and clearing sectional areas of the map). I only had 1 crash yesterday in 5 hours of play and that was during a zone-in for a dungeon I think.

I've been playing this for quite a few hours and I'm glad to say that I'm one of the (seemingly) few that hasn't encountered problems. No CTDs at all, very minor graphical glitching once or twice, and I haven't encountered a broken quest yet.
I am impressed at how fast the levels load up! The only time I have a chance to check out the stuff on the loading screens (once I realized they could be turned, zoomed etc.) is on the first load.
(OC'ed 2500K, OC'ed HD6850, 8GB RAM, No SSD)
Overall I'm very impressed with the game and I'm sure I'll be playing it for some time...

Seems like everyone is playing mage now. I guess I might have to start a new save or reset my perks

I always play a mage of some kind. Playing the brute warrior is always boring to me because I can already wield a sword/axe in real life if I wanted to, but I can't shoot fire and lightning out of my hands. ;)

I'm starting to get a little tired with the game. Hard to find much of anything that can kill me right now, and even though I'm not as uber as some of you guys, the repetition is getting to me. I just got the quest to
collect the different vials of blood.

REALLY???

Starting to feel like World of Warcraft all over again, collect x gems, get x pelts, get x items...

I wish i could break out all of the misc quests that are all grouped into one section in my journal as well.

I saved today before going to work standing near where I have to fight Alduin (or where I think I fight him).
We'll see how that goes. The draugar deathwardens or whatever they are called die in about 3-4 hits now and don't do any damage to me.

I actually kind of liked that quest. I didn't have to go out of my way to do it, just picked up the pieces as I went, and the ultimate culmination of that chain is awesome,
with possibly the best reward in the entire game if do as Mora asks. And let's be honest, it's a TES game, you're going to do what the daedric lord wants, right?
.

Yeah that would be nice. But I just go into that section and turn off the tracking on ones I don't want to do, or don't want to have cluttering up my compass. This game needs an always-on minimap desperately!

Turn it up to expert. You'll take some damage, and it will take several more shots to kill them. Also, I fully expect difficulty to be a non-issue once the CK is released, as the real mods will start transforming the game.

Still level 28 here. Been bogged down with school work so I haven't been playing a ton. Mages still mess with me though even with full improved daedric armor and the blocking magic reduction perk. Gotta work on my enchanting and enchant some spell resist I guess.

My leveling seems to have slowed down a great deal after 30. Going from 30 > 37 felt as long as going from 0 > 30.

It seems to involve work, something developers don't like to do anymore.

ex. DICE.

Amazes me how they let this game through without proper beta testing,CTDs are so common for PC users and not hard to reproduce at all,I guess they went with release now fix later policy.

I see their official CTD thread is up to 39 pages long ,thats a lot of unhappy PC users.

I'll say as a beta tester myself I'm more then amazed on how the CTDs etc slipped through testing.

I didn't notice any slowdown. I'm at 38/39 right now I think and still charging through. Just killed my 3rd dragon at the college. yeah, they are starting to become cockroaches of the sky.

I'm level 23 now and have been playing a ranger.

I've killed many dragons now but just now I was treated to an awesome happening that I quickly came here to share it:

The dragon was flying in and out about in the rainy day. He was beautifully fading and emerging between the clouds. After about a hail of arrows, the dragon decided to land. He was tired and ready to succumb to death.

I quickly took out my dagger and approached him for a killing blow. But I did not expect what happened afterwards.

It cut to a cinematic where I slashed the dragon's throat twice. Most cinematic ends here right? Not this one. He proceeded to fucking climb to the back of his neck and started wailing down the dagger to the dragon's face. He kept stabbing its eye to a pulp. Then finally he delivered a killing blow, then got off of the dragon.

It was about a good 10 second cinematic. I'm by myself now and I couldn't help but to say 'ohh shit' out loud few times.

I got that also, expect I bashed in the dragons head with a mace.

Playing ranger/assassin is so much fun. Far better than warrior where all I did was shield-punt and swing from level 1 to 22 before quitting.

I'm only level 23 and usually killing a giant takes about a good 3-4 minutes with arrows. But after unlocking Assassin's Blade (15x crit with dagger), I can take down a giant in fucking 3 swings. Before you get detected, you can land 3 crits of 15x. It's sick and so much fun.

I just wish there was some variety to that death blow, it get really annoying after killing like your 30th dragon and it does it for like ever 2-3 kills.

Same thing will all killing blows, which there was more variety, the sword, axe, daggers seem to always to the same. the mace and sword i seem to get a lot of decapitations

Pop a 1 handed pot as well ;)

Edit - Apparently it only works for the marksman pot cuz its broken? My bow displays in the thousands when I pot, I use glass though, daedric is ugly.

i haven't tried a pot yet. as it is its severely overpowered heh. My 2h hammer is high too
