If you're having trouble running Skyrim after today's small Steam patch, please try the following:

1. Right click on the game in the Steam library and select Properties
2. Navigate to the "Local Files" tab
3. Click "Verify integrity of game cache"

Also note that verifying your game cache will reset your SkyrimPrefs.ini file. If you are manually editing settings in that file, create a backup prior to verifying the cache.

PLEASE INSTALL THE "4GB SKYRIM" PATCH FOR STABILTY REASONS BEFORE WORKING WITH THIS MOD PACKAGE- It is included in the download!
In order for the 4GB Patch to work, the game must be launched through the provided 4GB Skyrim executable (.exe)
It is a guaranteed 99% CTD fix! The reason the game crashes to desktop is because the game is not a 64-Bit executable, therefore, Windows will not allocate more than 2GBs of RAM for use!! This mod allows the game to use MORE than 2GBs of RAM necessary for all those pesky awesome texture packs! Therefore, erasing the majority of CTDs and allowing for a clean, fun experience even with the latest Steam-Forcing Patch!​

whats going on with the 4gb patch now? i tried to run it from the previous icon and it wouldn't respond. when i tried to run it from the previous D/L it gave me an error?

had to start the game from the steam link

Try to launch the game from within steam and then through the patch, that fixed it for me.

i can't run the game from steam or with 4g patch. i can hear the game play but all i see is the loading screen. been like that since thanksgiving. before it worked great.

Have you verified the integrity of the data in steam? Otherwise, sounds like a reinstall

Weird. My problem was a corrupted game save. No idea whether it had anything to do with the patch.

By the way, I do suggest updating to the new re-pack, it adds some pretty cool new mods and adds neat features to the ones already present in the previous versions!

The mouse movement in menus is MUCH better with the latest patch. This is good news indeed.

To update or not to update, that is the question...I've been running it without Steam since the ninja patch. I assume that I'll have to go through steam from now on if I update...

Edit: The mouse is perhaps only marginally better in menus, it still randomly stops working and arrow keys are required... ugh.

Also, magic resistances appear to be completely broken now. As in, they don't work. At all.

Gonna shelve this game for now and go play BF3 I think. Very disappointed... would highly recommend not downloading this patch.

ugh. i thought it was something else and was spending time looking for it myself. but he said there was a vampire so i continued looking
