If the Dems can peel off one of the GA senate seats (Warnock looks most likely) there is a way to 50 seats if they can find something super cushy for Pat Toomey to do for 4 years. Willing to bet that the right appointment would be FAR more enticing than sitting around in the Senate for 2 more years doing fuck all and he's getting out of politics anyway.

I think Biden should seriously consider offering a Cabinet level position to Susan Collins as well. Maybe Veteran Affairs or Commerce, she would technically be qualified for either one. The Governor of Maine is a Democrat and the seat would very likely go to Sara Gideon even in a special election. Susan is moderate enough that she would not be a big problem for Democrats, but runs as a Republican making it difficult for them to oppose her, and Biden gets to look like he is reaching across the aisle.

Just want to throw this out there, for reactions. Not heard a thing but I am wondering: Is it possible that Obama will be appointed Secretary of State?
Scott Galloway had been pushing that, but I doubt it. I think Pete would be a good SoS.

I imagine Democrats would be willing to give huge spoils to whatever Republican senator either wanted to switch parties or resign to take a cabinet post. So lots of good incentives there.

That being said, also lots of disincentives - they would be permanently demolishing not just their chances of winning future office but also leveraging whatever connections they have in Republican circles going forward.

If it comes down to one senator I sure hope the democrats can pull it off but it’s going to be hard.

Not sure where to put this ... If true it probably deserves it's own thread...It is election related with something to do with stepping down in Janurary...

If true, I would call that good news. Yeah, I'm not goody goody enough to say I don't wish anyone bad health. There are a score of people I WOULD put in that category, and Putin is among them.

Someone like Collins would only go for it if she planned to retire soon after.

Maybe the networks dont want to call the election so they can keep running special coverage!!!
GA is for sure still up for grabs, maybe less so PA, but I am surprised they havent called NV. Maybe they are gun shy since they might have been premature to call AZ.

To what end? Sure more viewers, but they are showing less commercials. Unless they are charging a premium to air them.
Also wouldn’t really explain why AP hasn’t called it. I think they are gun shy because Republicans are going to go insane when they do and there’s some 0.5% chance that Trump pulls it out.

I strongly suspect if Trump were in an identical situation they would have called it for him by now.

Everything I've seen here says networks aren't calling NV due to quantity of ballots uncounted, they're not trying to take into account that outstanding ballots are probably 60+% for Biden. Essentially nobody wants to call it 270 until a state's count is complete so as to feed a narrative.

Also, the preliminary hearing in Nevada fed court has concluded with judge declining injunctive relief to all of plaintiff's requests. Essentially told them that they have no evidence, blind woman could have fixed issue and declined to, federal courts shouldn't intervene in a state issue this close to election (citing Kavanaugh), and that potential fraud in one vote shouldn't potentially disenfranchise tens of thousands of other voters (defendants argued that an injunction against mechanical signature verification would slow process to point where count could not be complete by legal deadline and thousands of legal votes would be invalid).

True, Putin is perhaps the number one adversary of western democracies... well Trumpism and all that but that is probably intertwined.
While Putin falls in "that category" as you say, you have to admire the man at the same time, what he has accomplished with so little is ... astonishing.
Yes, take that piece off the board please.
