Russia is basically Trump's Iran. Look for some sweetheart deals for trump sycophants to cheerlead in the years to come.

A tid bit of difference between Iran and Russia. Russia has nukes and i cant recall the last time Russia publicly announced that they intend to wipe Israel of the map while chanting death to the U.S.A.

Layered bullshit. It's an act of salvage. Anybody who pulls it out of the ocean can keep it under centuries old standards.

There are rules for salvaging something in international waters. I am no expert in International maritime law... but i am pretty sure the owner of the salvaged object has to be in some sort of peril. The salvager also does not simply have rights to keep the object. They can be owed money for the slavage.

Face it man. This happend because obama is a bitch. This was no salvage operation by the Chinese. The Chinese knew obama would not do shit. They grabbed the drone from our ship which they had been monitoring for some time. Not knowing what it was for (being no where near mainland China), they probably shipped it to their new bases in thr Spratly islands, and then overnighted it to the mainland for study. I bet that drone will come back glowing from all the xraying the chinese did to it.

Your analysis of this minor drone incident is completely retarded. Nothing happened because Obama. In fact Obama has been good in regards to China:

So because Politico says that Obama has been good in regards to China that must mean Obama has been good? Is that your analysis of the situation?

So far it's better than any analysis you have put forward. And better than Trump's who said the Chinese should keep the drone.

Think about what you were replying to more carefully. Reagan paid Iran back for their troubles, and it's pretty evident Trump owes Putin in the same way.

Good to know he's still playing 4D chess.

In Beijing on Sunday, the Global Times, a Communist Party-controlled newspaper known for its nationalist tone, poked fun at the mixed messages coming from the United States.

“Before Trump’s generous announcement that he didn’t want the drone back, the Pentagon had already announced publicly that they have asked China to return the ‘illegally seized’ [unmanned underwater vehicle] through appropriate governmental channels,” the paper wrote. “We don’t know, after seeing Trump’s new tweets, if the Pentagon should feel boggled.”

When was the last time you heard about the US capturing spy drones in the "international waters" surrounding Hawaii? Oh yeah, never... because the Chinese recognize US sovereignty over the Hawaiian islands despite them being 3000 miles from historical US territory. Why don't we respect Chinese sovereignty in the same way they respect ours?

We do. They were in International Waters. Hawaii is our sovereign land that are a State.

so they are not going to keep it using the bullshit salvage claim you barfed on here?

Intl law is basically might makes right. They got ahold of the probe, and they'll have it until it's not longer advantageous to keep. For someone who understands their race interests so well, you sure play dumb here.

Heh. I didn't say their claim was valid. I said it served as a rationale.

It seems likely that it was done on the initiative of the Chinese skipper given the official response from the Chinese govt. It's a minor incident that needs to disappear & they're working in that direction.

Or we can turn stupid & make it into something it's not.

There is no indication that the incident occurred other than on the Chinese skipper's initiative. I'm pretty sure that the Chinese govt wishes it had never happened.

So I take it that having a calm and reasoned approach to this incident is totally unacceptable because it's Obama that's doing it, and it's better to let them "keep the damn thing" to show those Chinese how silly and childish they were and how beneath us they are as a people and a nation because Trump said it.

Yeh, that makes a whole lot of sense. /s

I kind of assumed that this was a warning shot from China saying "we could do this any time we wanted to."

I'm sure it'll be lost on Trump, though.

I think you're reading way too much into it. This isn't the first time in History that a ship captain or a fighter pilot got a bug up his ass & created an international incident.

Everybody's willing to let it go except for the ravers having axes to grind. The Chinese probably have their own, just like everybody else.

Trump's comment? What an ass. He'll def try the world's patience.

More details about this incident from this article and it supports my point that commie china STOLE the darn thing right in front of the US ship, like a lowlife thief. Nothing about rights of salvage at all. This is not the sole incident. Remember the chinese pilot that crashed into the US plane in 2001 and the harassment of the USS Impeccable in 2009? That's how bully china operates. The US has the stronger Navy in the world and china would dare to do that. Now imagine smaller neighbors that do not have that kind of power. No wonder they do not like commie china.

Chinese submarine rescue ship did not respond to attempts by the USNS Bowditch‘s crew to communicate. The Bowditch‘s crew was “asking over bridge-to-bridge radio to please leave it there,” Captain Jeff Davis, a Pentagon spokesman, said. “The only thing they said after they were sailing off into the distance was: ‘We are returning to normal operations,'” Davis added.

The glider-seizure was illegal by any measure of international law. International legal experts and South China Sea watchers Julian Ku and James Kraska have already offered two excellent looks at this aspect of the incident at Lawfare. In short, the behavior that the Chinese rescue ship engaged in was not only highly unprofessional, it was an illegal seizure of a U.S. vessel in violation of sovereign immunity. Moreover, the Chinese vessel violated high seas freedoms of the USNS Bowditch under the United Nations Convention on the Law of Sea — a treaty China has signed and ratified.

Finally, there is the idea that the Chinese submarine rescue vessel somehow picked up the U.S. glider inadvertently, but this interpretation holds little water. U.S. accounts put the Dalang-III-class ship within 500 yards of the Bowditch, with the vessel actively seizing a “clearly marked” U.S. glider. (There were two submerged gliders, one of which was recovered by the Bowditch.) Additionally, there’s also a low likelihood that the Chinese vessel acted as a “rogue,” without direct authorization from above.

Or there's the simple answer- Chinese skipper gets a bug up his ass, makes an error in judgment.
