Or there's the simple answer- Chinese skipper gets a bug up his ass, makes an error in judgment.

Do you have anything to back up that statement? Or you are just blowing smoke out of your butt like the statement "rights of salvage" you stated previously?

Let see, a ship captain under the dictatorship iron rule of commie china and he would dare to do stupid thing(s) without approval from higher up? Yeah right. What's next? You will tell me that N. Korea personnel would go against the Fat Boy "our dear leader" on a whim? LOL.

See my post (with link) above :

Additionally, there’s also a low likelihood that the Chinese vessel acted as a “rogue,” without direct authorization from above.

Could higher up leadership in China be so petty that they would think to pick up a scientific water drone in order to make a statement?

Wait our leader is the petulant petty child named Trump. NM

Did you read any of my posts? I even provided links.

See my post above, #53 provided the attitude of china to US:

In a separate report, the paper quoted retired Chinese admiral Yang Yi as saying China considered itself well within its rights to seize the drone.

"If China needs to take it, we'll take it. (America) can't block us," Yang was quoted as saying.

Or shall I provide links (plural) with current chinese administration high ranking official made a statement about itself and the neighbors. Something about china is a big and powerful country and others in the neighbors are just small. Or statement from chinese official that since South china Sea has the world "china" in it, it belongs to china. Talk about great wisdom from china and chinese <snickering in sarcastic>. No petty childish ignorant cluelessness there, right?

Shall I go on? I swear sometimes I feel like I am debating with wumaos from Global Times, People Daily, and such in china with all the excuses for china and bashing the US from you guys.

I'm agreeing they could. As I pointed out, just look at our new fearless leader's temperament.

Reading comprehension - FAIL

You were the one that made this excuse for them chinese:

Could higher up leadership in China be so petty that they would think to pick up a scientific water drone in order to make a statement?

Nowhere that you said that they could, expressed or implied.

I provided solid evidences to prove that them chinese are even worse than DT (especially toward smaller neighbors), maybe not as blatant on Twitter. Facts are facts.

Look like you need to learn how to read again.

Is English your first language?

COULD the Chinese leadership be so petty?

And I answered that with "Wait our leader is the petulant child named Trump NM"

In other words Wait, yes, they could be. Check out Trump and NM

Christ I can't believe I have to explain this shit

When I read your post, I did not see anything about you agreeing that the chinese could be petty as DT.

Not clear what you mean NM?

Now if you said something about "Look at what the chinese will have to deal with soon, the petty child named DT, they need practice how to be petty as him" then I would understand your point.

Latest news, china/chinese are backtracking. They claim that they took the drone because of marine safety issue. LOL. Like how they invade islands/islets/shoals from the neighbors for "safety" for the common good. Or how they won't militarized those islets/islands but now they are putting weapons on those same places.

There is no indication that the incident occurred other than on the Chinese skipper's initiative. I'm pretty sure that the Chinese govt wishes it had never happened.

Regardless someone under the patronage of the PRC took the probe, and how that gets resolved involves the relative might of the parties in that relationship.

No, you're arguing with an actual idiot. Idiots don't really understand things, so explanatory statements are just gibberish to them. Eg:

You can explain to this idiot that for example a parent whose child "wronged" another can make some arbitrary excuse/apology to de-escalate a situation, and he will never grasp what the implies because he simple lacks the mental faculties to process the idea.

sigh...why bother

There is a HUGE difference between the military drone that was downed by Iran. And the underwater science drone stolen by China.

I thought the below quote was very funny:

"First I want to say we strongly dislike the term 'steal' as it's entirely inaccurate," she said.
"The Chinese navy discovered the device -- and identified and verified it in a responsible and professional manner. Whether the device was lifted out of water and dragged in water, I think the key point was that the Chinese navy did so in a responsible and professional manner. And they did so to prevent it from harming navigational and personnel safety of passing ships."

They were only doing it to protect others.

Dunno about that. I don't think either party wants to blow it up into an issue of might, particularly not the Chinese. Had they wanted a significant confrontation they'd have kept the drone.

The Chinese skipper has probably been called to grovel on some Chinese admiral's carpet at this point. It draws the kind of attention they don't want.

Define that difference in a way that justifies Trump's remarks, particularly wrt bombing Iran.

Latest news, the drone will return to the US...."soon".

Gotta love this:

Noting Chinese sensitivities about the incident, a U.S. official would only characterize the timing of the handover as taking place "soon."

So the thief stole an item outright right in front of the rightful owner on bright day time and now it has sensitivity feeling? LOL.

And there are the facts of the incident in the article, how chinese stole the item like lowlife thief/pirate while the US personnels were trying to tell them not to and the thief just ignored the radio call and stole it. Must be rights of salvage chinese style? LOL.

The point was these incidents/situations are handled based on the power dynamics of the relationship. Like for example the differences if this were some other two parties involved. It's high level politics, not anything the dummies in this thread can ever understand.

I made no comments in reference to any one bombing Iran. So I don't know what you are talking about.

You quoted Trump's comment that Obama should have "taken out" the spy drone captured by Iran juxtaposed with his comment about the underwater drone. The meaning is obvious. If you weren't talking about that, what were you talking about?

It is called inference. I was able to infer the point from his post. You seem to be a more literal person who doesn't do "inference". I don't mean that as slur or anything. People just communicate in different ways. For example, I only understand about 10% of what Moon posts and then only vaguely.

The OP was comparing Trumps difference of opinion on a secret military drone and a simple Not Secret research drone.

They are two completely different things.

Trump referenced bombing Iran. I asked your opinion wrt that specifically. It seemed an insane position to me, but obviously YMMV.
