The success of the new PvP zone will greatly have to do with how much the content in that zone changes/expands in patches along with how much of a time sink the rewards will be to get assuming they are even valuable. Creating a potentially fun place to PvP in provided that enough participate alone will not be enough just as Halaa has demonstrated.
I really do love it when Halaa is active though. I hope the new zone in WotLK is successful.

yea i think thats the main issue, the stuff from halaa is pretty much useless, its easier to just buy a 10 resil gem if you want it and the rest of the stuff is crap, same with the spirit shards for the most part, the ring is nice but arena stuff killed that the moment season 2 came out, the meta isnt bad if you are a cheap ass however

Nah it's 100% true 😛. What I meant by "PVP goal" was getting the PVP gear (except the potions... which can be used in tower capture too, so they're kinda PVP) with the spirit shards.
So to make my flow chart a bit more verbose.
Do Spirit Towers PVP event (PVP) -> Do Auchindoun instances to get spirit shards (PVE) -> Redeem Shards for gear (PVP)
It's really poor planning to be forced to do PVP to "enable" the end goal (by enable meaning enabling the currency)... then have to do PVE to even purchase the end goal.
It's also kind of poor to make the PVP event give a PVE buff (+5% exp).

Well, I don't see what the point is to making players PVE to bolster their PVP-ability. I could see if the player wants to do both, then this would be great for them! But it really depends on your goals as a player, which would make it nice if there were more than one way to skin the proverbial PVP cat.
It makes it kind of hard since I don't really have any goals anymore in the game other than leveling. 😛 Although, I am kind of having fun in one of the guilds that I'm in since they're rather amusing to talk to. But their caliber isn't quite up to mine. Not to brag or anything, but a 63 affliction warlock should not beat a 70 ret pally 😛. Although, I did also beat a shadow priest from my other guild with my holy/disc priest :laugh:. It was amusing when he never even dispelled me.
After hearing all you guys talk, im glad that Im not in a top 50 guild. our guild is still pushing through SSC/TK and im loving it. I would like to see all of BT before the expansion, but I can skip sunwell for the new expansion.

Hopefully you're guild won't get stuck in SSC like a lot of other guilds. There are so many bosses in that place and you have to kill each of them in order to get a shot at Vashj. A couple of weeks of running out of time results in 2 weeks without any Vashj time. Granted this changes with the next patch (best decision ever imho) but as of right now you can't do that.
If the patch comes out next week you won't have to worry about any of the normal SSC issues. 😛

Yeah, we talked about that afterward and took the blame for trying to be too ambitious in getting too many new people keyed at once.
One healer for an elemental team had never even been past lurker in SSC before... and I think the healers have it the worst on Vashj, so much multi tasking and situational awareness due to their locations on the upper platforms.
Still we got her to 19% with 5 new people... overall thats not terrible. I think tonight we will just go with our usual group, maybe 1 or 2 new people that we know for fact can play, and just get it done. We still need to kill Kael before 2.4...
well we can do hydross, lurker, tidewalker, and keothras in 1-2 nights. And we raid 4 nights a week, so hopefully we dont get stuck. We can also do A'lar, VR, and solarian in 1 night as well. So for full clears I dont think we'll be able to get them both done in the same night, but shouldn't get stuck. We havent started a new boss in 2 weeks though which is sad. But we have a lot of guildies in college who were on spring break.

Just be glad you aren't in my guild... We run two Kara groups, in preparation for 25 mans, but group 1, which runs on Tuesday, couldn't run because we had zero healers. I want to move on so badly... I just don't think I have the gear.

Ohh we could do some super PVP together with my undead rogue (Lightning's Blade)!
This warrior kept dueling my (night elf) rogue yesterday. Finally started playing correctly and would've beat him, but I ran out of Crippling Poison before the duel even started, which would be quite helpful when trying to keep the warrior at a distance. Also, thinking about it, if I would've just sprinted away when he was coming out of the stun, that would've worked too. Should've also been more using of evasion... still have such a negative stigmatism with that move from back when you never wanted to use it, but now it's better to avoid the huge MS crits and some white damage and eat an OP if you have to. Hrmm, maybe I'll have to look into this more.
Oh and as advice, don't do Shattered Halls with an Arms/Fury warrior (even if they have good tanking gear... which actually makes it worse because of poor rage gen) and a mildly geared resto druid. It's not pretty 😛.

Beev, I looked at your thing and you're missing some enchants. At least throw something like the +10 stam patch on your boots. You also need the +damage enchant on the bracers and the + stats on the chest. You could go for +healing on the bracers and sacrifice 5 damage. Also, grab subtlety on the cloak

Yeah I haven't really done enchants yet (save for a few). Like my mainhand enchant I'm waiting on until I get a good mainhand, and I'm either getting Nalorakk's bracers or the pvp bracers. You say I should go for subtlety on the cloak? I've noticed a lot of warlocks get penetration. Other than that, I completely forgot about my chest and boots 😱

Spell Penetration only affects resistances not the chance to miss, so I'm not sure why anything but a PVP lock would want it? 😱 Unless there are some mobs with some minor shadow resistance or something.
You should put +12 int on the bracers as a temporary enchant then. It's much cheaper than +12 stamina.

your gear looks fine, the ony comment i can really make is that you need more + hit a lot more, im assumeing you use the scryers bloodgem when you raid and not the riding crop
that brings you up to like 160 hit which isnt bad, if you can id go for the mainhand from Murmer in SH it has hit on it and is the best "Blue" you can get till some sort of epic (http://www.wowhead.com/?item=27905)
your best bet is prob to wiat for 2.4 tho when season 2 gear becomes honor gear and just get the season 2 Dagger which has hit
id prob put a 4hit/5damage gem in your current ring

the wand from Aran has hit or you can get the badge one and put a hit gem in it
generally speaking you dont want to spec 0/21/40 untill you have 202 hit 1000 spelldamage and 18+ unbuffed crit% however im not gonna tell anyone how to play, its just the general consensus

as for enchants id do +12 int or +30 healing to bracers because 15 damage is fing expensive and hopefully if you have better luck them me you will replace the ones you have now
+20 spell pen is a pure PVP enchant it does absoutly nothing for PVE, get Sub, however if you can get the cloak from Prince which has +hit on it id wait for that (http://www.wowhead.com/?item=28766)

Thanks for the tips, Anubis. I broke 1000 shadow damage recently, but my hit suffered a little because of it. I've been trying to get that sword off Murmur, but the dick won't drop it. My Cenarion Expedition rep is slowing climbing up, so maybe I'll push for it and get exalted.
Any high rated PvPers out there? I'm a rogue teamed with a frost mage and usually do quite well against most teams. We hit 2100 a couple days ago but lost ~140 points to 3 different druid + warrior team yesterday morning. This combo seems to be more common now at this rating (druid+whatever). There were very few people playing, so every other game was against one of the 3 druid+warrior teams that would just kill us. Not completely dominate us as in a 2 minute game but slowly DPS us down due to my team being a dual DPS.
I'm in full S3 gear and so is my mage partner. We have problems bursting down even a S2 druid. At least 20-25% of my stuns were constantly resisted by the druid and he would kite us around the entire map (ruins, BE, and nagrand). My partner can't really burst him down because he's constant shifting out of frost novas to avoid shatters and going out of LOS. The warrior, even in full S3, has a hard time countering our CCs, killing us, and chasing us down while we chase the druid. So this game would last a good solid 7-10 minutes. He couldn't put enough damage on us until later in the game when our bandage debuffs caught up with the damage done by the warrior.
If we take the warrior first, he would put on a shield and one hander and start tanking me and casting spell reflect whenever its up. We can't poly/blind the druid long enough to take out the warrior. So he'll get heals and either my partner or I will get cycloned, lessen our DPS even more.
Am I at the maximum achievable rating for my team makeup? It's druid+warrior//SL/SL locks that are keeping us from going any higher past 2.2k.

I think you might just be. The Druid+Warrior/Warlock team is a good combination. I'm curious if spellsteal ends up being useful for the mage? It's a fairly costly spell and isn't necessarily going to drop the druid's mana. But if you can steal the HoTs and seal his casts (kick or CS), you may be able to kill the warrior. Also, using wound poison may help as the druid will probably want to remove it if he wants his heals to be more worthwhile. That may not sound too bad, but Abolish Poison ain't gunna do it quickly (you can probably reapply them faster, so no need to SS it).
If you can, try combining a successful stun with a shatter combo. He can't break it if he can't act 😉. Although you mentioned a high rate of stun resistance, so this won't be easy.
I'm no Arena expert as my rogue isn't geared well and only did it for a couple weeks, but that advice might work or be worthwhile trying. Personally, I think you might be able to kill the warrior if you can try to pull them apart. I'd say for you to stick on the warrior and try to kite him away (staying inside Intercept range and moving backwards... goat him into coming 😛) while your mage tries to push the druid around. No doubt the druid will go to help the warrior eventually, at this point, the mage will probably get cycloned and will need to break this or try to LoS it. The druid will either use Lifebloom or Rejuvination. I doubt he'll try a cast, but if he does, CS it. If he casts an insta-cast HoT, spell steal it. Keep trying to pull the warrior out of LoS and maybe your mage can help you.
This is all just bench fighting in my mind and good players may not fall for a separation 😱.
