There were very few people playing, so every other game was against one of the 3 druid+warrior teams that would just kill us. Not completely dominate us as in a 2 minute game but slowly DPS us down due to my team being a dual DPS.

I'm in full S3 gear and so is my mage partner. We have problems bursting down even a S2 druid. At least 20-25% of my stuns were constantly resisted by the druid and he would kite us around the entire map (ruins, BE, and nagrand). My partner can't really burst him down because he's constant shifting out of frost novas to avoid shatters and going out of LOS. The warrior, even in full S3, has a hard time countering our CCs, killing us, and chasing us down while we chase the druid. So this game would last a good solid 7-10 minutes. He couldn't put enough damage on us until later in the game when our bandage debuffs caught up with the damage done by the warrior.

If we take the warrior first, he would put on a shield and one hander and start tanking me and casting spell reflect whenever its up. We can't poly/blind the druid long enough to take out the warrior. So he'll get heals and either my partner or I will get cycloned, lessen our DPS even more.

Am I at the maximum achievable rating for my team makeup? It's druid+warrior//SL/SL locks that are keeping us from going any higher past 2.2k.

Rogue Mage is great up until about 2100 in my battlegroup. After that it's purely warrior+druid with the occasional warlock+druid. Even back during the AR/prep days rogue/mage teams still had it a bit tough against war/druid, but now it's really a glass ceiling unless you and your partner have insane mind game tactics

If they somehow really manage to lockout or minimize arena point selling, I'd be interested in seeing how that would change the arena team composition among rating levels.

It'll still be the same. Even in 2.4, which personal ratings PREVENT farming of low level teams (2.4k rated players re-creating their teams to farm to 2.4k again to be 100-5). The druid's ability to kite and LOS any class in arena is incredibly effective. A S3 druid is near impossible to kill one on one, nor can he kill you one on one. Their popularity will not be overtaken in the 2v2s bracket. Maybe lessen in 2.4, but definitely not overtaken by any other healer class.

At 3v3s, the standard RMP will still dominate and the warrior/ret pally/druid team will be a worthy competitor to that comp when 2.4 comes along.

I don't do enough 5v5s or follow them in the tourneys to know much about them except for the 2345 comp.

There are several ways people sell arena points:

1. Have the 2.4k rated players bring a completely new team to a high +2200 rating and sell the entire team to a noob. The noob(s) loses 10 games a week (which could be anywhere of 150-200 points) and banks off of those points for a good 1-3 weeks.

2. Have high rated players play win/lose games for the noob(s), while still keeping their team instead of selling it entirely. This starts to have diminishing returns at the lower brackets, especially in 2v2s where your noob partner has to have some skills and/or gear.

3. The high rated players JOIN the noob's team and personally help him get to XXXX rating for XXXX points/personal rating. The high rated players would have the advantage over teams in the 1500-1900 range due to the fact they are more skilled and experienced with full S3 gear.

As a lock-tailor I went Scryer before; has anything changed to reconsider that for my next char or take scryer again?

Roll a warrior.
You'll be the second most highly sought after for groups.
Also, you won't have a difficult time joining good guilds.

The only thing I normally take scryer over aldor is if I have enchanting since scyer has the master enchanter.

i.e. you could group, talk, exchange with the other factions - horde and alliance. would just have to work up a lot of rep to be able to enter the other side's cities, and even more to get quests?

I'd be willing to give it a try. I've done pvp and pve already, might as well try grouping with hordie/alliance.

That would really take away from the game actually feeling like Warcraft. It would be less interesting.

The beauty of it would be that you wouldn't have to roll there :D

Stay on the normal pvp server if you prefer.

Well, I think you are missing the point. It isn't about whether or not the players have the freedom in participating in this sort of server or not. Blizz feels very strong about preserving the theme of their MMO. They want the game to make sense in their universe. They want it to feel like Warcraft. They understand that there are a lot of cool ideas out there that they have the power to implement, but they just do not fit well with WoW in particular. Blizz has shot down ideas in the past many times using this sort of reasoning and I tend to agree with them being a fan of the lore myself.

However, if you really like this idea then don't let what I am saying here stop you from expressing it more publicly. We all know that Blizz is working on another MMO. There is always a chance that ideas which are posted on the official forums might be heard by the right person over at Blizz and result in having an influence on another one of their games.

if the past is any indication then the patch WILL NOT be out on the 25th, trditionally the PTRs come down for a full 2 weeks before the patch goes live

Pulled Kael'thas for the first time last night.

First and only pull of the night after clearing TK just to see the fight, we got to phase 3 with 2 weapons down (bow and staff) and 25/25.

Just need to work on positioning of the weapons for AoE and a proper kill order. It was focus fire on the bow and staff for some reason, AoE started very late while tanks fumbled to learn positioning (first time all but two of us have seen the fight).

Advisers went down in less than 10 seconds each in phase one, regardless if it was ranged or melee dps, so we definately have the DPS for this. We even had an extra prot war that we didn't switch out after Al'ar.

Going for full night of attempts tonight, I see it happening much faster than Vashj (took about a month from the time we started SSC to the time we killed Vashj). We have wicked melee DPS so the pyro barrier should be down in time for the second pyro. I think it's our fight to lose once we hit phase 4 25/25.

I think after it turned out to be easier than anticipated, it's psyched everyone out to make killing him before 2.4 a high priority. w00t

Your first goal tonight with Phase 2 should be killing the bow, staff, and mace with at least 20 seconds left before P3 starts. This is absolutely necessary because your raid needs to loot their weapons and be in position in time. In addition, pretty much all weapons should be close to dieing when the mace goes down due to the AOE with exception of the Axe. The Axe is by far the least useful weapon and it can stay alive well into P3 and even P4.

If you complete that goal before the end of the night with time to spare, then move on to getting your raid positioned properly so everyone gets the staff buff and optimizing your DPS output on the advisors. Thaldred is especially important to kill quickly during this phase. Once he dies, it relieves a lot of pressure on the raid. No matter how you slice it though, the weapons and the Advisors need to be killed ASAP.

The last two phases are pretty easy. They do not consist of challenges which your raid has not encountered before in one form or another.

battle ground question:

since it was double honor points for bg over the weekend i hit WSG hard because that is where the honor points were doubled. my question is how much honor points does one normally get for a kill in BG?

oh and alliance sucks at WSG, i did about 25 runs over the weekend and only had 2 wins, that sucks beyond belief. we had much better success in EOS were out of 10 runs we won 7. why does the alliance suck so bad at WSG?

because everyone wants to be the hero and no one heals,

during a BG weekend you dont get more honor for killing people you get a Bonus at the end of the game its liek 30 or something

but the max honor you can get for killing someone of equal lvl in PVP is 20 and thats when you solo them, that number is divided by the number of people who help you kill them and is weighted by how much of the killing they did

Not really just healing. Alliance are usually poor at WSG as it isn't as simple as overpowering a group at a node.

There was a blue post awhile ago about the exact honor differences during weekends and that's not always the only change. I believe you also gain more honor per flag cap and everyone gets the honor at the end. I believe AV is the only BG where the only difference is more honor at the end.

To my knowledge, it's 21, which is also the number that BG reward honor is calculated based on. You actually get player_pvp_worth x multiplier for an objective. Also, if people are in the area, they can also get credit for doing nothing, which will leech from the amount that you get.

I think anyone would agree that BGs are fairly frustrating as Alliance.

It is mostly healing though. It is like night and day playing a game of WSG or EotS if I step in with 2-3 guildies and the rest are pugs. We just run around in our group filling the gaps where the rest of the pug is lacking. We never die because all I do is CC and heal while they protect me. Other than that, it is the same old story as any other pug BG.

It truly is amazing how almost all of the debating and strategies on the net for BGs revolve around what a pug is simply incapable of doing well. Just adding in a small percentage of true team players that communicate well with each other can completely change everything. Odds that were non-existent become existent. Strats which are considered to be useless by the majority suddenly overwhelm the opposing team. We aren't even talking about a premade here. I'm just talking about a few people carrying the weight of the team.

If you are part of an Alliance faction that sucks outside AV, then even on WSG weekend(especially WSG) you will net more honor in AV.

If you are part of an Alliance faction that sucks outside and inside AV... well then I don't know what to tell you, other than to find people that don't suck or willing to learn and que up with them.

Still AV is probably most fruitful unless you are (un)lucky enough to be in one of the BGs that Horde are so hard nosed they don't even allow Allies to snag towers.

In WSG a single healing priest can turn the tide of the game with escorting skills as well as mind vision.

Also, it's a pity people don't heal as much in BGs... I net more honor on my priest healing in BGs than I do on my warrior smashing face. Spot healing people in combat that are killing folks has it's bonuses.

So my little sister is quiting wow. She has a 70 mage 1/2 epic'd. What would be the total cost to get that mage from her? just the character transfer? or do I need to pay for her account for a month?

I have seen something similar. I used to go into AB and such with 3-4 other people that I PVP'd with and we'd roflstomp the enemies (almost always 5-cap'd at the beginning and held it the entire time). Although, I should say that I did this on my Horde and that made it all the easier .

Last time I tried Mind Vision on a flag carrier to find him in a base resulted in an error. I forget exactly what it was... probably some LoS thing.

I'm the exact opposite. I usually make really poor honor in BGs when I'm healing :(.

You can probably just transfer since she has the same last name.

You will need her secret question and answer to said question though.

Strangex2.

Mind Vision rank 2 has a 50000 range and does not require LoS. I can escort a carrier and 1/2 back to base just /tar carrier name and tell my entire group where the flag is going.

When I geared my disc priest for arena about a year ago, I would just find a decent warrior/warlock to follow and heal, while dispelling/burning/fearing their targets... was far more honor than solo running around DPSing, b/c I lived longer, killed more targets, etc.

EZ!

Well I want her mage, in my account so I dont have to pay for 2 accounts. Isnt it like a $20 fee to move a character from one account to another?
