Anyone ever get dropped from the C130? I'll be having a great gun run and all of a sudden I'm falling. Plane is fine

We are up to 6 members now. If anyone wants to have Leader access to the platoon, please send me a PM. I would like to get a couple people so that we can continually approve people.

What I can see there is that they have finally started to work on problems that players have been reporting since the game launched. I can understand the first priority was the game not running at all and crashing but its really disappointing this many months after release to still have the same buggy netcode causing serious problems that add a lot of randomness to the game for no good reason.

They added the headshot and packet loss icon to try and show players that everything was OK, Dice genuinely believed it was all fine and that all the players needed to see was that it was their internet or someone headshotted them. The reality was more like what the players had been proving for a long time, that the netcode had serious faults. Dice has wasted a lot of time by pursuing avenues on every bug that is basically "uhuh its not broken its your computer", only to try and prove to the players and be dead wrong.

BF4, still a mess 6 months after release. Doesn't mean its not fun, but its unreliable code.

Only if there was a class action lawsuit demanding full refund of purchase price. And punitive brain damage from the flickering. Maybe Dice will get their head out of their behind.

IMO, Dice took on a monumental task to release this game on multiple PC platforms, Xbox 360, XB1, PS3 and the PS4. They flat out bit off more than they could chew. I'm sure that EA didn't help the situation by not extending the release date to give extra time for development. The bottom line is these are all just excuses. When I pay $100 for a release I have certain expectations for that game. When I feel that I've been taken advantage of, I will be sure to remember that. I didn't have nearly as many issues as many users here on initial launch, but most of the ones that I did have are still around in one for or another. I have lost my trust in EA/Dice and that will be hard for them to gain back in the future.

Is the game playable yet? I uninstalled weeks ago because I couldn't stand the bullshit anymore.

"Tickrate
Players have been asking whether the tickrate – how often the server will update the game world – in Battlefield 4 will be higher in the future. Though we haven’t got any immediate plans to increase the tickrate at this moment, we are exploring the possibilities of raising the tickrate on specific servers."

so they're completely ignoring the problem, for those who don't know BF4's tick rate is 10

(for comparison sake, the default tick rate in CS:GO is 64, with high perf servers running 128)

when your tickrate is that low, the "netcode" is irrelevent

Its actualy 30/10 30hz from the client, 10hz from the server. The "specific servers" bit is a out to leave behind the 360/ps3 and possibly the xb1/ps4. I expect to pay more per slot as well, but that's fine.

Is this tickrate business actually a big deal? If so, how the hell could they have neglected it this bad?

all the lag compensation they talk about are essentially mechanisms that try to hide the low tickrate of the servers

The servers latency for processing user inputs and it being passed out to players is 1000ms in a second / 10 the tick =100ms

Since that is the processing time its inputs accumulated from the previous ticks that are then applied in that tick, making the actual latency of the server between 100ms and 200ms. I don't know about you but if you play a game without lag compensation at 200ms ping you need a lot of lead of your target to hit them and there are a lot of gaming artifacts. Its like playing on a 33.3 baud modem all over again.

All that latency is added because of the server tick rate, and the clients try to "compensate" by adding layers of code and prediction and fuzzy accuracy logic to make it look like the lag isn't there. Seeing as how a lot of people play with 10-30ms of latency due to their connections it seems crazy to add so much additional lag with server processing.

Its a massive deal, its an awful technical choice and I can't believe they did it and are defending it.

Haven't played in weeks, don't feel like I'm missing anything. I bought premium for BF3, very glad I didn't spend the money this time around.

Who wants to uninstall and go back to BC2 or PS2?

NEVER!!!!

I actually tried going back to BC2 after getting somewhat bored of BF3 just before BF4 released, but it looked and felt horrible. The awkwardness of character movement always kept me from really getting in the earlier Battlefield games, coming from Quake 3 Arena and CoD4 they just felt too clunky and slow. I sure liked some of BC2's maps though.

Im guessing PS2 is Planetside 2? I havent played that one, mainly because it looks like it has a lot of MMO type of stuff going on in it, and MMO's just arent my thing.
