What are your predictions for new features in BF4 vs BF3?

We know there will be naval forces, and probably a new faction.

My predictions:

• Real working in-game VOIP
• Working "battle recorder"
• Capture the flag from the get-go! Yeah!
• Single-player should be multiplayer maps with bots, like BF2. I think it has more replayablity that way. But it won't be. It will be similar to BF3.
• There will be a DLC that delivers the functionality of the Special Forces add-on for BF2.
• Another throw-back DLC with Chinese themed maps from BF2. Fushe pass, Dalian Plant, etc.

Hehe I mind of liked some of that,
but if cutting that craziness still gets me a commander that can direct traffic (incentivized by rewarding fulfilled commander orders), I'm on board.

BF2 artillery wasn't that insane, you could very often survive just by running when the first shots hit. The problem is that people are unwilling to accept a feature that can kill them when they can't immediately turn and fire back at someone 50 meters away or less and commander artillery isn't that. If people only want the ability to have face to face gun duels, why try to have any features at all beyond what CoD offers? Heck, even CoD is overfeatured if that's all some people want, with those killstreak helicopters and stuff.

As for cartillery, that's just fun. And doesn't always kill, sometimes it's a free vehicle.

Yeah, I'm scared the dumbed down style will kill the game, and BF3 went way too far in the COD direction. Often there are too few vehicles on maps, and I would have loved to see the A10 and frogfoot integrated into regular maps for dedicated ground attack. The jets are ok, they take some time to get used to and do a pretty good job of following Dice's "easy to learn, hard to master" mantra. Helos are an abomination, they fly much better with a mouse and keyboard than with a joystick. It's not even close to how much more rpecise a mouse is than a joystick when flying them, and it is pretty clear joystick implementation was an afterthought.

I heard a bunch of people bitching about the size of the maps in BFBC2 and saying they wanted bigger ones with more BF action. I tend to agree, but it seems the most popular maps are the close quarters ones that play exactly like COD. People don't often like vehicles, they just want to grab a sniper rifle and park themselves on a rock. The game has a lot of potential, but people are pretty terrible at it. There should be a button that allows anyone on your team to TK someone who is sniping on assault rush, if they're not covering objectives and moving up.

Battlefieldo - Battlefield 4 Beta scheduled for fall

Interesting news from the Twitter front today. For all of you who bought MoH: Warfighter mainly for the early access to the Battlefield 4 Beta, I think you might be happy to finally have a word on this event. Battlefield 3's Community Manager Ian Tornay posted a revealing tweet regarding the possible season in which the beta of Battlefield 4 will be set. Tornay's tweet reads:

| Excited thinking about all the cool, fun @Battlefield 4 stuff we've got planned, leading up to the beta in the Fall and... beyond!

This might confuse some as there were whispers in the corridors that the (exclusive) beta for Battlefield 4 would be set to launch this summer. It seems that with this tweet from Ian Tornay this theory is debunked and now we have something solid to hold onto and a season to look forward to.

A new screenshot has appeared from various sources showing an exclusive BF4 beta for Premium members. This could mean either two betas, or Premium members will earn early access to the scheduled single beta.

Are they going to have a for-show demo beta like BF3 did or a real beta? It's a rhetorical question, I know you guys probably don't know.

By this, I simply mean two things:
1. Will they actually do beyond in-house-only testing early enough that not every feature and design decision is 100% locked in?
2. Will they do it long enough to catch a meaningful amount of bugs and get balance right before release?

I am not saying they need a super long beta like PLanetside 2, after all, that was a new engine and everything. But yea, BF3 had a for show beta.

Though I enjoyed it, BF3 was their COD pass. Not trying to stir shit, just my opinion.
