Well, I think you might be getting it. They're doing a Star Fleet Academy series set in the 32nd(?) century, and that's where Tilly is. I'm not super fond of Tilly, but I'll give the show a shot. That show could be really terrible in a number of ways, but it might be good. Only one way to find out...
I hope Starfleet Academy doesn't turn into something like this:

Stargate SG1 foreshadowed what ultimately became Stargate Universe.

Please tell me its not going to be called 10-forward, along with Guinan as the bar keep.

The only Spinoff to Star Trek im looking forward to is Section 31.

Finally got around to this. Finished last night.

I really didn't like Season 1 or 2. But while S3 is thick in member berries and a bit ridiculous at times, it was nice to see the TNG crew back together again, and it was a fine re-sendoff for them. Let's leave them retire these roles now.

Seven and Jack are fine to continue forward if they want to.

I think Star Trek Academy sounds like a CW show. ZERO interest in that.

Idk... I like Tilly and I see a lot of potential for the next round of ST "heroes" to be introduced. (long as they keep the "feels" levels within reason!)

:p

Picard s3e2: WTF plots holes

- When the enemy ship threw dr crusher's ship at the Titan, it didnt have shields up already???

- Since when can a retired admiral override the ship's captain's orders?
'Lock down the transporter so Jack can't beam out' or something like that

On a diff note:
LaForge's daughter's remark about how you cant use a law of physics to break another law of physics.
Will this come into play later on?
ie: Checkov's Gun

Shields have limitations .... like being rammed by another massive spaceship for example.

Also (shockingly) NONE of this is actually REAL lol .... try a little "suspension of disbelief" and you'll have a lot more fun!

;)

OK…so who/what is the “it” in this first plot hole point?

“When the enemy ship threw dr crusher's ship at the Titan, it didnt have shields up already???”

Who? Crusher’s ship? The Titan? Enemy ship? I know you know what that “it” is, but sorta nebulous to anyone not reading your mind.

Titan didnt have its shields up at that point.
Why didnt it?

I'm now up to S3e5:
More of human turning into super assassin like s1?
And more Starfleet upper command compromised like S1... ugg.

Where the hell did those other 2 compromised security guards come from?
They teleported in. Thought the ship didnt have power for that?
if they teleported in from the Intrepid, then why didnt they just teleport/kidnap Jack off the Titan?

And whatever happened to ODO, the head of security in DS9?

Best bet would be to watch DS9, in particular the episodes relating to the Dominion war which IMO is about the best "Trek" ever made.

Answering that question directly would be a major spoiler.

s3e7:
um.. connecting the half insane robot directly to the ship's computer instead of a completely isolated system?

Did they not watch james bond and the much ridiculed plot hole of the genius head of the spy gadgets dept (aka Q) accessing the enemy's usb drive directly from his laptop that's connected to the network?

hand to hand combat with a group of changelings? all the changelings had phasers 15min ago. what happened to them?

Fixed.

And if you actually watched STNG and the movies this decision makes perfect sense.

Given the current environment surrounding "AI" the series plotline surrounding Data (the sentient machine) will "read" historically much like Uhura did in TOS.

Umm, question.

Didn't season 2 end with "lab girl" merging with the borg queen and saving Picard 650 years later?

OK. So why have they completely ignored that this season.

2 caveats. 1) my grip on reality can be . . . . let's say "fungible." Mainly that means that I miss a lot of shit that's obvious to most. 2) I'm only about a third thru season 3 so maybe they link up later?

That was in Discovery and in the distant future. Whoops!

The below still fully applies though!

The "shaky at best" sci-fi plotline in Disco is a big part of why it's being cancelled after this season. (along with truly excessive "feels")

Not Discovery. That was Picard, but I think they ignored it 'just cause'. Picard should be viewed as one season=one episode of classic Trek, and once that season's done, any continuity is just happenstance, or happens to work with the story they want to tell.

Oh yeah sorry.... got confused.

Frankly I'm not so sure that AI can't do a better job with some of these scripts then the writers union! (what a mess!)

Yeah. When, not if there is another iteration of Star Trek, they need to get some writers who can handle it properly.

It was to show what a 18 inch gun shell looked like.
They have one on the USS. Iowa museum in Cali.

The question tho is where they found the gunpowder and packing ordnance, because im for certain they definitely don't that have that on the museum, or anywhere outside a secured Naval base.

i'm assuming on the iowa and Wisconsin exhibits, the rounds are NOT live?
There's no explosive material in that shell? it's just a shell of a shell.

And i meant everything that's needed to make that shell deadly including the priming material.

oh btw- the Iowa class was the biggest US battleships ever made.
they are smaller than the current mega cruise ships made.

don't need you needed it to be packed charged.
The kinetic force on a 18 inch shell @ 2700ft/s

It doesn't need to go boom..
Like Hulk.. it goes SMASH.

I think the IJN Yamato, and IJN Musashi hold that crown.

I would absolutely LOVE to see a NCC Yamato in Star Trek.
It would definitely make a awesome field test ship for the Enterprise - J.
Meaning the Enterprise - J being a Yamato class.
