Also on Outlander, it was only released in 81 theaters! It was no wonder why no one went to it because you were lucky if there were 2 theaters in your state that had it playing. Personally I really liked the movie. I think it would have done better had they managed to get a PG-13 rating, but can understand the R for the gore (which I also understand why they kept it because it would have really diminished the end movie to remove/alter many of those scenes). In the end, it was a movie that the publishers bailed on by not putting it in more theaters and not advertising for it at all. I was going to the movies a lot back then (probably every weekend), and I didn't see a single trailer for it (and quite obviously, neither did anyone else). But it is a decent movie (a sci-fi twist on beowulf). Certainly better than "Cowboys and Aliens" and yet that managed 100mill in the domestic box office (because it actually was played in ~3800 theaters in the USA, vs 81 for Outlander).

That said, this is getting way off topic.

Well if its good or not if a movie doesnt test well they arent going to put 80 million in adverts on it. Thats just the reality of the film business.

Again thank you for the concern JSt0rm. Your research is noted. Personally I'm hoping for a kick ass game. When its released I hope it exceeds our expectations.

I look forward to facing up against Vanguards in a Retaliator, should be an interesting contest.

ot: Outlander is a good movie, watched it a few weeks back and still enjoyed it.

Is there an estimate for when this game is coming out? I've heard it has changed a few times and can't find it now.

I spent $45 on my Aurora LN package. I already have over 50 hours of entertainment out of this game. That's less than $1/hr. For entertainment.

Star Citizen is an absolute success. Already.

IF they do anything else (like say an FPS module, social module, more maps, SQ 42 campaign)........it's all gravy from here.

How come the Wired author didn't interview me?

Things that happened yesterday for those who don't check the website often:

Star Citizen Alpha 1.1.1 Released
Some bug fixes, flight ready Gladiator, and working turrets for smaller multi-crew ships (Gladiator, Super Hornet, Cutlass)

1.1.1 Still having matchmaking issues

Star Citizen 1.1 re-named Star Citizen Alpha 1.1

Design post on Stances, Stamina, and Breathing in FPS

Gladiator light-bomber flight ready and on sale
Stand alone ship, Ship package, and Cross-chassis options

Super Hornet on sale again for limited time
Stand alone ship, Ship package, Ship upgrade, and Cross-chassis options

I have trouble keeping up with this game. Thanks SithSilo.

Does anyone know how I can upgrade my super hornet to a Vanguard? I have the digi Colonel package and I was told I would lose a lot of benefits if I melted it to fund the Vanguard LTI package.

You'll have to wait a while until the Vanguard is in arena commander before you can do the upgrade and keep your alpha access + LTI.

The cross-chassis upgrades only come out once a ship is flight ready.

I also heard they will be moving to a new cross-chassis system once the larger ships(Starfarer or larger) start hitting Arena Commander that will allow you to just swap any ship with any other ship for a fee instead of applying multiple CCUs/upgrades.

will it be possible to buy a vanguard in addition to my current superhornet at that time, and get LTI on the vanguard? I missed the recent vanguard LTI sale but i want one.....

You won't be able to buy a vanguard with LTI directly.

What people have been doing/are planning to do is buy one or more cheaper concept ships with LTI and then use them as Cross-chassis platforms to move up to larger LTI ships they may have missed.

The best candidates for this method haven't come out yet. The Hull Series transport line-up will be out later this month. Since they will come in multiple sizes the smallest ship may be a good candidate. The other option people are waiting on is the 3rd starter ship which will be out later this year. It shouldn't cost too much and should be coming with LTI.

Im having difficulty here.

If I get the 30 dollar ship can I play the Alpha?

None of the currently offered packages contain access to the full Alpha experience, it was a perk for early backers. I think the current plan is that each Alpha module will be accessible via a $5 pass specific to that module.

For example:
Arena Commander Pass $5 - Flying
Star Marine Pass $5 - First person shooter maps
Social Module Pass $5 - First multi-person planet side experience, shared hangars

If you only get the $30 package you will not have access to the Beta once it rolls around and you will need the $5 Arena Commander pass to fly.

This $45 Package includes the ship in the $30 package, an extra month of insurance, Beta Access, and the Arena Commander pass. Alternative $45 package with the Mustang Alpha instead of the Aurora MR. Both of these also give you full access to the first single player campaign and the full multi-player game once released.

They may choose to combine the passes as more modules come out or charge less if you get it packaged with a ship. Since we only have one module atm I can't make a very educated guess.

I totally forgot and missed it, too. Not a huge miss, but definitely a ship I'd prefer LTI on.

I would agree with not melting the superhornet. Right now it is still one of, if not the best combat fighter. The Vanguard may be a tougher ship once armor and redundant systems are accounted for, but from the sounds of things, it will not be as good of a dogfighter. It is listed as twice the mass, and 50% larger in almost every dimension, which means it will be that much easier to hit (just the dimensions alone will make it 50% easier to hit, let alone the difference the mass will play into its ability to maneuver).

They are two different platforms though really, and each will have its role to play (I can see the Vanguard playing as a long range sniper and anti-corvette/frigate roles once upgrading the gimballed cannon to a S5 (assuming it will take one)).

That said, this is all just theory-casting.

Agreed. I want a Vanguard, but not at the expense of my Super Hornet. Different combat role, but just my style of ship.

I'd prefer to have both I just cannot afford to pay full price for it.

I will wait until I can test fly the Vanguard to see if I like it more than the SHornet before I go melting anything.

Just remember all these ships will be available to purchase in game (with ingame currency worth a lot less than what you would pay now) when the persistent universe finally comes out.

Yep, and even LTI isn't supposed to be a huge leg up as insurance costs aren't supposed to be significant. Personally, I just get something intangible out of the early pledge. As foolish as it is.
