I haven't been around for a while, but ... this petition thing is still going on? Give it up, obviously no-one cares by now. AT is a general-purpose site, they don't want it to turn into a geek-infested programming site. (Well, ok, I'm not saying that it's not already "geek-infested", but I meant in a more highly-specialized way, which might detract from the more general audience demographic of the site.)

Or perhaps the mods are just using this topic and letting it stay alive, to taunt certain members. :p

Is computer software any more geeky than hardware? The ratio of hardware to software categories on this forum is ridiculous.

My bi-mensual (2x every month) bumpage here.

Edit: I read this somewhere else (by Jason)
Fusetalk only has the attach code func, but I believe [ code ] is on our 3.0 list
I'm getting the feeling they're waiting for the next fusetalk before adding this forum, becuase the moment we create this category/forum people will bitch about not having a code tag.

A programming forum would have to be split between programming for real, and doing some kids homework, which seems quite common on here.

HOmework problems are easily detected, guidance is issued and/or scoldings quickly admonistered when deserved.

Considering that a large majority of people who come to this site are after info on maxing out their gaming rig, this make a large amount of sense.

If the admins spent some effort on splitting forums that need it rather than getting all upset about the busiest one then this place would be better off.

We do need a separate programming forum, it's a must, alot of us AT members are Programming Students/ IT professionals ..etc we need this. It's highly benefecial for it to be separate.

I love AT the site and the forums but my biggest complaint has to be lack of communication between staff/members. All it would take is a reply from someone in charge once in a while to appease most users here. That goes for both this issue here and all the stuff going on in P&N/OT. Lack of communication is the singlest largest factor alienating users and causing discontent on these forums.
