Now well never see a programming forum.

Makes sense though. Only problem is, if we create a programming forum then people wanting to see other forums will also chime in with their requests. Tricky issue, but the general consensus does seem to agree to having this forum in the first place. Hell look at this thread, it was started 08/04/2004....a year and a third ago and there's no response.

Mods, while all we can do is wait, I think a good decision to make would be to give us a response ("We're working on it", "No", "Maybe sometime in the future", etc) - that way we can at least know what you have in mind.

There's a big difference between creating a forum on a new topic, and splitting an existing forum (that is, in many people's opinions, too broad) into two or more forums that have a narrower focus.

Doesn't seem like anyone upstairs is particularly interested in this, though, which is a shame. Splitting up the software forum would make it a LOT more useful.

6 hardware forums
6 miscellaneous

and 5 software forums

5 + 1 = 6 :)

Makes sense to me

exactly. considering how easy it should be to just add a new forum, they would have done this a long long time ago if they wanted to.

I got a message from Anand himself saying that they would be considering this. Also if all moderators thought like the one in that thread this would also have been locked a long time ago.
