Not like it will matter. It might sound harse, but Anand himself has no interest in programming or games, he's only interested in hardware. That's why we have so many different hardware categories and everything software lumped into one forum. I think he wants to keep this a hardware site.

I agree with an earlier poster who said that atleast someone needs to come in here and say maybe or atleast a firm no.

I think you could incorporate Programming into Highly Technical, since highly technical doesn't have that many posts compared to the rest of the forum. And programming can be considered pretty technical.

yeah, i think that you'd get a different audience in a programming forum than you would in a "software" forum.

bump :)

I agree.

The average intelligence on this site seems a good deal higher than most other places.

As such, a Programming forum would do well here. I for one would enjoy discussions on the topic, as well as helping the(Very small) number of people with less experience than I have, and learning from the(Very large) number of people with more experience.

To be honest, given what Anandtech seems to represent(A high degree of understanding with computers) a Programming forum seems very appropriate.

A programming forum would have to be split between programming for real, and doing some kids homework, which seems quite common on here.

HOmework problems are easily detected, guidance is issued and/or scoldings quickly admonistered when deserved.

I agree.

As a general rule, the person asking for help coding a Pseudo-ATM that can be run under Windows is probably not working for Capital One.

Homework is obvious, at least until you get to the very advanced levels. By the time you're at those levels, odds are good you know what you're doing anyways.
