I agree. Although the General Forum is a good place to start, specially for new members who aren?t too familiar w/ the topics and just browsing the web for help. But more derailed topics would be a good idea.

I couldn't resist :)

I don't see why not. Anand personally answered the OP. Hopefully by the end of August we'll be done with this. I just think we need some more support from forum members.

Hint: Link to this thread in your sig, and maybe some of the programmers will show their support.

Bump can we at least get a clear answer of why this isn't being done or if it is being considered?

Bumping after having been away for a while.

Seriously, this should take about five minutes to do, has widespread support, and would be incredibly useful. Right now it's not so bad, but a large percentage of the time the Software forum is unusable because of deluges of posts about rumors of next-gen console hardware, or whatever hot PC or console game came out last week.

I don't understand why this has been in limbo for nearly a year. If you need moderators, ask and people will volunteer. If you need help sorting threads, ask and people will do it. If there's some technical thing holding it up (waiting for a new Fusetalk version, etc.), just say so.

I for one volunteer to help this good cause. If the new programming forum needs moderation, or if there is any other stuff I can do, I'd really like to see this happen.

I'd even be willing to help migrate old threads over to the new forum.
