I read the thread. I know when the neutral was given, which is why i said in my post that
if "someone sent me something that didn't work I would be pissed to. I don't care what the person does to fix it, it still isn't a positive experience."
He didn't give him negative feedback. If he had given him negative feedback than I could understand why people were so upset. it was just neutral.
Okay here's a hypothetical situation so that maybe you will understand.
Say you purchase (from me even) a hard drive.
I (as always) ship on time and pack it in a nice box surrounded by foam, or in a manufacturer approved container.
You get the hard drive and it is dead. Doesn't power up, nothing. You try another power supply/computer to be dilligent about it. It still doesn't work.
You them PM me.
For one I know the drive worked when I shipped it...I test everything. I give you two options. A refund + cost of shipping back to me and you send it back. OR like...$20 off of the price paypaled back if you want to RMA it yourself to cover your troubles.
You decided to RMA it yourself and I send you the paypal promptly.
What rating would you give me on that situation?
he didnt' give me an option though. he just said
"01/02/2006 05:48 PM From tfinch2
So when did you plan on letting me know? The scanner worked for me. "
and logged off from anandtech.
what were my options? give him a few days to beat around the bush? to tell me to try other stuff i have already tried, like reinstalling the software etc? a different usb port?
whatever.
he knew it was broken once i told him and told me when was i going to tell him. then left anandtech. sure, leaving after he responded that he knew it was broken, thats the same thing as telling me "

listen to yourself odin. it makes sense this way, ur hypothetical situation, but it doesn't apply to this one.
